BuckyRover Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I find it strange that no commentators have mentioned this fact. I have a friend who is a villa fan, so I notice the transfer related gossip and they are being linked to very cheap/free players. I get the impression that funds are not forthcoming. I wouldn't be surprised if we finish above them this season.

koi Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Villa will be among the top three spenders in the Premier League in January. Until then they have a small squad and needed a new face. City will be one I presume, who do you think will be the other?
bennyboyt11 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Surely City have enough player problems without the need for adding more faces? They seem to be finally blending together too.
Neil Weaver Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 The Daily Telegraph's view on Pires amused me........ Pires gets a few minutes in his new colours:How Aston Villa's newest old boy fared at Ewood Park 46 Pires ordered to warm up. No obvious signs of arthritis as he gingerly attempts a couple of sprints. 69 Action time. Pires replaces Stephen Ireland, to applause from the travelling fans. In time-honoured substitute fashion, runs about frantically without getting close to the ball. 73 Gets a touch – sort of. He rolls a free-kick to Barry Bannan (just the 17-year age gap) and the set piece comes to nothing. 90 Spends rest of the game playing the sort of pretty but pointless passes that would make him a shoo-in back at Arsenal. Trudges off at final whistle, doubtless looking forward to a hot bath and a bag of Werther’s Originals.
Amo Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Talk of Villa signing 35 year-old Juninho. Is Houllier the right man to guide their new era of youngsters? He was always signing foreign nobodies at Liverpool instead of putting faith in homegrown players.
sweet Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 City will be one I presume, who do you think will be the other? Has to be liverpool, surely? Possibly tottenham though.
nicko Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 City will be one I presume, who do you think will be the other? Man City seem to be looking at a couple of younger ones but that still means decent money. I would expect Chelsea to make a splash although they are unpredictable. Watch Stoke having a real go if they get close to the top six. They have as much spare cash as anyone.
Guest Walshy Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Does anyone reckon a cheeky loan enquiry for Anderson from utd could materialize?
LeChuck Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Weiss is definitely one worth looking at. I doubt he'll have a future at City, but he's a talent.
The Rover of Finland Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Does anyone reckon a cheeky loan enquiry for Anderson from utd could materialize? No in this season. M.Diouf already on loan from there and you can´t have two loan players from same PL club.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Weiss is definitely one worth looking at. I doubt he'll have a future at City, but he's a talent. He wants a ball of his own. Dribble, dribble but no end product.

Interesting, Stoke are only one point ahead of us, will be interesting to see how we both recruit....
nicko Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 John Guidetti - the Man City kid who has been on the 'watch' list - is about to join Burnley on loan. Interesting to see how the kid does. The word is he is not ready for the Premier League yet. By the way, if anyone round here is Peterplop on that ClaretsMad nonsense...be very careful. I have a pair of size tens coming in your direction.
The Rover of Finland Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Nicko, anything new on Seb Larsson?
nicko Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 Nicko, anything new on Seb Larsson? Still a possible.

Smithy Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Mail says Sam will have big funds to play with in Jan.
nicko Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 Mail says Sam will have big funds to play with in Jan. There is no figure in the story - there wouldn't be. Nobody knows what will be spent in January. The best way of putting it is that what needs to be spent will be spent...to stay up.

We haven't gotten round to learning to read in my school yet
