Torgeir Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 nicko, I see Gai Assulin has signed for City. According to wiki they're looking to loan him out, do you know if he's a Kentaro client? Or did he offend Sam too much by not showing up for a "trial"?

Hughesy Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Weiss is definitely one worth looking at. I doubt he'll have a future at City, but he's a talent. Agreed...wide man, likes to run at his man & abit of pace...Talent for the future.
Brownie Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Would love to see Rocky back in a Rovers shirt. Whats the latest on his fitness ?
tony gale's mic Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Am I the only one not remotely excited by paying £4 million for a 29 year old crock with as many good seasons at the top level as Michael Ricketts?
67splitscreen Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 RSC, just to much of a gamble, we need someone to see most of the season out on the pitch, OK there is no guarantees but more of a chance with someone who has less of a recent history like his. Beside when did the Sun get anything right.
Bobby G Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Roque was a one season wonder. His fitness cost him a career as it did at Bayern where he had numerous opportunities. I wouldnt take him back.
47er Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 In addition to his injury problems,I wouldn't want him back becauseI felt he let us down almost from the moment he started getting rave reviews in his first season. He more or less announced to all the world he wanted a move while taking us for as much as he could in the meantime. True we got an enormous fee for him but I don't think disloyalty like his should be rewarded. Mind you I'd prefer him to this bloke! http://tribalfootball.com/articles/blackburn-eyeing-middlesbrough-striker-boyd-1275331?
Majiball Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I dunno about a permanent transfer but I would certainly consider getting him in on loan. Our players already know him, how he plays and so on. Keeping him fit though, tricky one.
Bobby G Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Bentley, Kranjkar & Roque wouldnt be the worst dealings for January, would they?
benhben Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Wonder how Lewandowski has been going this season? Did he join another club? I wonder if we will return for any targets we were priced out of over the summer
Fife Rover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Bentley, Kranjkar & Roque wouldnt be the worst dealings for January, would they? Possibly Krankjar; but the other two can go and rot as far as I am concerned. They were each given a chance to salvage already broken careers by Rovers, and as soon as they got playing regularly and well they both let the world know of their availability and desire to move to a "better" club. They have got what they wanted and now that has rebounded on them, so stuff them both!
BuckyRover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 We did get £34m for their "ambition", so I'm not too concerned about them coming back. Roque would have to be a loan to prove his fitness and desire though.
Bobby G Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I think Bentley has a chance to recover his career and what better place than where it all went right. He has been out of the headlines for a while and hasnt been mouthing off, and he wasnt too vocal when leaving us either (compared to a number of other cases). But I think Hughes will move for him before we ever could.

67splitscreen Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Wonder which red top will be the first to link burger boy with a move back for a cut priced 400k. RSC on loan on similar wages to replace Benjani might be worth a shot. (edit just remembered he got a 12 month deal) doh! As I said earlier in the topic Klose would be my pitch and I would have thought similar money to RSC. Krancjar looked sharp last night in his cameo appearance.
S15 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 A fit Santa Cruz is a world class centre forward. For £4m. I'm going to avoid spelling it out any further.
mark Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 There is no figure in the story - there wouldn't be. Nobody knows what will be spent in January. The best way of putting it is that what needs to be spent will be spent...to stay up. curious comment nicko.. you really think we'd go down if we don't spend? i'm not saying we don't need to add to the squad and I know standing still is going backwards but relegation seems extreme.
jim mk2 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Possibly Krankjar; but the other two can go and rot as far as I am concerned. They have got what they wanted and now that has rebounded on them, so stuff them both! Well said sir ! Footballers do not know when they have a good thing going and always think the grass is greener elsewhere. Bellamy is another example - quitting Rovers for Liverpool after one season in which he was outstanding for us. Bentley has gone from the England squad to Spurs reserves since leaving and is now spending the best years of his career sitting on the bench when he would have been playing every game with us. Santa Cruz was for perhaps the first time in career free of injury with Rovers and starting games regulalrly - and it showed with some excellent performances. Both players will probably look back on their careers and regret the day they left BRFC. On the other hand, they will probably check their overblown bank balances and couldn't give a stuff about the lack of success in their playing careers.
Hughesy Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Back page of todays LT is all about how Roque would relish a return....apparently available for between £3-5m. He has told close friends he would like to come back & has many friends still at ewood. Tough one to call...an awesome player if fit, however awful injury record too! He also sh!t on us when we needed him most.

I thought the same Mark, given that we are 4 points behind Spurs! I am not saying that we dont need to spend but to avoid relegation is a very negative slant. Would like to hear Nickos view on West Ham if thats the case!

Our team would be so much better with those two in it.
RoyRover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Possibly Krankjar; but the other two can go and rot as far as I am concerned. They have got what they wanted and now that has rebounded on them, so stuff them both! This sums up my feelings for both of them. As you say, we resurrected their careers, got them playing well and as soon as there was interest from other clubs, they couldn't get out of Blackburn quick enough. We all know that after Bentley started playing for England, he was probably getting words in the ear about playing for a better club and earning x amount of money. Santa Cruz would be back in Paraguay recovering from another injury and telling radio shows that he wanted to move to a bigger club and he only used Rovers as a stepping stone. When he got back to England and was quizzed on his comments, he used the good old excuse that his words were lost in translation. Since then, both players careers have gone down the toilet, which is exactly what they deserve after the way they treated us. The annoying things about it all is that I know deep down that they would make us a better team if they did re-sign. There are big questions marks about Santa Cruz's fitness, which would have to be taken into consideration before anything could happen. It's difficult one to decide on, because I know that they could make us a better team, but I'm also happy to see them rot in the reserves and hope they regret their decision to jump ship. In Bentley's case, I would take Krancjar before him any day of the week!

To be honest the last three years Blackburn have been a club going nowhere, no money, no ambition, a selling club, a coat hanger in the PL. I really couldn't blame anyone from wanting to leave. I really hope thats changed but both had the right to leave, too many clubs had far far greater ambition then Rovers, clubs below Blackburn in the league. The fact they flopped is a great pomotion for Blackburn though.
Doaksie Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Am I the only one not remotely excited by paying £4 million for a 29 year old crock with as many good seasons at the top level as Michael Ricketts? Not the only one. Terrible attitude when jumping ship to the 'big boys'. Now he's got his tail firmly between his legs. Maybe he wants to share Richard Steadman anecdotes with Benjani. No thanks on Roque. We did well to sell him once for so much, let's leave it at that. Incidentally Michael Ricketts is training at Brockhall at the minute to regain his fitness. Don't even think about it Sam....
Amo Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 £4m for Crocky? Pretty sure we could put that towards someone who won't be injured 24/7.
