John Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Didn't Lewandowki join Dortmund for €4m? That's the kind of deal we should be looking at. Roque, for all his talent, is invariably crocked. Seems like he has started off pretty well there too, 4 goals in 12 games. By the sounds of things we would like someone slightly more proven or who have experienced playing here before - need to be realistic those types of strikers may come at a higher cost.......hit list in the LET I think said Carew, Santa Cruz, Ngog.

You say that, but Santa Cruz hit the ground running in his first year of PL football. I don't think PL-experience necessarily matters, as long as the striker fits our system.

I don't think PL-experience necessarily matters, as long as the striker fits our system. Some players/strikers can settle in very quickly, usually depends how good they are - personally I was very excited straight away about Santa when he signed, because he possessed proven quality even though his injury record always counted against him. The fact Hughes was aware of him for a number of years, plus got the run down from some of his old pals at Bayern, made it less risk too.

Hows he doing at Dortmund? Trouble is those sort of deals are really only about in the summer. Loan RSC, there won't be many suitors anyway. Don't really see the point in signing Bentley if being honest we Have Diouf 1& 2, hoillet, Olsson & Emerton if need be. Carew just doesn't float my boat, really. If I'm being honest I think Kalinic has more in common with RSC and if anything perhaps training together and the such may benefit Kalinics development. We have to get a central player even if it is a quick fix/loan boy in. I know exactly who I'd take a punt on as he needs a loan deal in Jan.
Ricky Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I'd prefer us to go for Caicedo over Santa Cruz.
John Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Notts County manager Paul Ince has revealed he will try to sign Alan Judge on a permanent deal. Utrecht FC midfielder Michael Silberbauer has been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers.
PAFELL Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 How long has Roque been fit now? How many minutes has he played for City this season? Has he played 90 minutes two games in a row (even for City Reserves) this season? I also heard something about Roque and Sam not being on good terms but that was cause Sam felt he was letting the club down, although he did stay till the end of the season that year, you didnt feel like he was dying to come back. My final thought is this. The LT usually follows closely the club "line" of thinking, so does that mean we are in actual fact looking into the Roque possibility? I would rather have Crouch than RSC or even carrol

Bobby G Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 8 million for someone who hasn't been in the form that earned him his good reputation for about 18 months now?
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Don't really see the point in signing Bentley if being honest we Have Diouf 1& 2, hoillet, Olsson & Emerton if need be. Bentley is better than all of them. If we have the funds to make a move and he is open to a move back then it would be foolish for us to not consider it.
MikeB Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Would be very surprised if Rovers touched RSC, even on loan. Showed immense disloyalty to us and we shouldn't be used as a 'port in a storm'. Final point on RSC, it's believed that the Rovers' medics were extremely surprised when RSC 'passed' his City medical !!! Bentley is a creative talent but I think Sam will be looking for someone with a bit of blistering pace which we are very much lacking in both midfield and up front.
Roost Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Stephen Ireland would be a great signing for us. It's in the paper today he will go for £8m. Stephen Ireland? Please,no. What a waste of money. He was terrible against us on Sunday - added to that he is a wierdo who would cost...... £8,000,000. NO WAY!
Majiball Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Bentley is better than all of them. If we have the funds to make a move and he is open to a move back then it would be foolish for us to not consider it. I'm not saying he's not, but central midfield is of far more importance than a wide right player, IMO.
Amo Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I'm not saying he's not, but central midfield is of far more importance than a wide right player, IMO. Didn't Bentley play centre-mid for us? I remember him having a run there.
budha Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I would rather have Crouch than RSC or even carrol The difference is that Crouch would cost ~£10M and Carroll £20M+.
Majiball Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Didn't Bentley play centre-mid for us? I remember him having a run there. Yes he did, but we also already have one player adapting to the role in MGP so I'd be looking for a real one or someone who's played there quite a bit. We need a passer and I feel we have to stick to our guns on this one, especially since we look like having limited funds this window.
tony gale's mic Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Yes to Bentley, no to RSC. Bentley has regularly showed flashes of his old self when he's been given a chance for Spurs.
Bobby G Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Id think Bentley could go for 4-5 million or am I dreaming? 8 million for Bentley and Roque wouldnt be the worst window would it?

Besides, couldn't Bentley play as the second-striker?
Majiball Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Id think Bentley could go for 4-5 million or am I dreaming? 8 million for Bentley and Roque wouldnt be the worst window would it? I just can't see spuds taking that kind of hit on him if I'm being honest.
Fife Rover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Didn't Bentley play centre-mid for us? I remember him having a run there. That would be when he scored 4 against United. Yes?
chris Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 That would be when he scored 4 against United. Yes? and look at him now, having to cover his legs with a blanket every saturday. ahhhh he wasn't to know. 6 or 7 million might get him.
LWX Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 That would be when he scored 4 against United. Yes? I thought he was an extra striker, or attacking midfielder for that game... i remember him playing centre mid proper away at luton in the cup, but he's far too lightweight and can't tackle for sheeet!
bluebruce Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 That would be when he scored 4 against United. Yes? It was three. I can't see Bentley moving for any less than £8 million, likely more, given how many teams would be interested, and the fact it is Spurs negotiating. They'd probably want even more if it was us- I get the impression they don't like getting screwed in business. I'd like Bentley back, but I think Kranjcar would be more affordable, and also a good signing. By the way... Charlie Adam considering appeal to get his contract cancelled
BigJackWalker Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 RSC - Loan with a price agreed if we want to make perm in summer - needs to prove his fitness 1st Bentley - Loan with a price agreed if we want to make perm in summer - needs to prove his attitude 1st Carew - Low fee & buy now....prem experience, good in the air, good at playing the target man - perfect for our current side. I'd be so happy if that happend doubt we coud pull it off tho
