47er Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 So as opposed to asking with a roundabout figure in mind you'd like me to just grasp any number out of the air and throw it at him? I'm curious to see if Roberto can throw any names out there since his connections are more continental and he might know the odd gem who's available. They've said £5million with the potential for more, so until it becomes transparent that that's not the case, I'll refrain from making assumptions. Supposed to be 5M including wages wasn't it? I think she might review that one!

Roost Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 We need the Ireland sort of players, player that you KNOW can do it but they need to be loved and pushed by the right man. Sam could make Ireland a star again, perfect time to get him at his lowest point. Maybe, but not for anywhere near £8M.
chris Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Maybe, but not for anywhere near £8M. he probably needs another season of suppression at Villa to knock his price down.
Majiball Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Supposed to be 5M including wages wasn't it? I think she might review that one! No idea. But we did shave a serious % off the wage bill this summer, I'm not sure I want to see it sky rocket again. But then good players want money especially when its the EPL. Prices are always inflated in Jan, no one really wants to sell there best players so I'd be happy enough with a couple of decent loaners. I've said it before we need to take greater advantage of this type of transfer and I'm kinda glad Venky's see it that way as well. I know exactly who I'd want to play in the middle and as for up front I'd take RSC on loan provided we could keep hold of Roberts. I don't see the need to splash out big style in this window and the above mentioned 2 would be enough to see us safely home and maybe perhaps more. This way we get a bit more time to take stock and try and route out some good buys as with so many out of contract again this season and some money for a change we could have a good chance to "improve" the squad. I'd also be very keen at present to see exactly who the bosman's will be this summer as there must be one or two gems to be had.

I was just saying that I didn't think £5m was the transfer fund. As 47er said, the £5m supposedly includes wages so we will have a lot less than £5m if what she says is true.

I gave my reasoning and if you perceive that as angry that's your problem.

As 47er said, the £5m supposedly includes wages so we will have a lot less than £5m if what she says is true. if the average player earns 30k a week, then x 52 is 1.5 million. A contract averge of 3 years is 4.5 million. That would mean a kitty of 500k. I'm sure the £5 million would be the upfront fee.
whiteinpeace Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 The difference for Henning was that he was and still is very much a true gent neither motivated by money or greed. he didnt engineer his move via the media. he didnt slate the club in public. he was welcomed back becuase he had a genuine affection for the club. that is the marked difference for many players who have come and gone through the Ewood gates. As for Zulu, Ricketts might just be getgting fit for replacing Elmander - how funny would that be ??? It'd be fine, we have Coyle the Messiah, he can turn virtually anyone into worldbeaters.
rovgers Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 It'd be fine, we have Coyle the Messiah, he can turn virtually anyone into worldbeaters. Do you think he'd be up for the challenge of turning Keith Andrews into a world beater?
sweet Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I want Roque Santa Cruz back! Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce keen to end striker's miserable time at Manchester City My link "Asked if Santa Cruz was the type of player he would like to sign for Blackburn, Allardyce said: 'Yes, I think so - there is no doubt about that. 'Whether players of that ilk want to come back to Blackburn Rovers and play for us, that is fine - but it all depends on the financial side of it. 'There will be some finances but whether it will stretch to the size of the sort of wages that Manchester City pay is a difficult one."

It´s from Roque´s first game for Blackburn. The match was here in Finland. Maybe 50 Rovers´ fans was chanting Santa Cruz has coming to town before the match. And he scored after 5 minutes. There was something magical right away and he was so so good that season.

Haven't City done some deals recently where they pay the wages or part of them for players they have got rid of? Might be a way we could afford the deal. Even though he would fit the system we play I still think going for Roque would be a bad move considering his injury susceptibility.
chris Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 'Whether players of that ilk want to come back to Blackburn Rovers and play for us, that is fine - but it all depends on the financial side of it." someone needs to tell Sam he already played for us, we have had lots of players of that ilk and better ilk's. just wonder what wage he is on.
Amo Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 'Whether players of that ilk want to come back to Blackburn Rovers and play for us, that is fine - but it all depends on the financial side of it." Sam's just waiting to take all the glory when he signs Santa Cruz for ickle old Rovers.

ROVERS Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 please get both Kranjar and Ireland in.............. thats all i ask for.
modes98 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I think Sam knows he played for us... Big hint was when he said "come back to blackburn" Bentley is in a similar situation. I imagine Sparky wants both!

Roberto Policano Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Mr Policano, We've got around £5million to spend and since you have a good knowledge of mainland european football would you care to throw any names into the hat?? It's not easy to do just like that off the top of your head.I know from contacts & people i've meet over the years that player recruitment isn't easy and needs planning if it's to be done right. Obviously i know the score in Italy and other odds & sods across Europe,Who wants to leave in January, who wants a loan etc,Just like Alan does for England and Scotland. For what it's worth,i personally don't think you'd go down even if you signed no one during the next window. If i was your manager i would sign a striker with the £5 million, that in my opinion as a neutral is were you are weak this season,Maybe a midfielder if the budget go's that far,Surely that agency who went in with your owners can pull a rabbit out of the hat. Like people have said on here City could be a good place to shop,Pretty certain City will get a Striker in,maybe 2,4-5 could well leave. I could do a list of players who are looking to leave their clubs in Europe nearer to the Window opening,i'll have a better idea then.
duffbear Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Do you think he'd be up for the challenge of turning Keith Andrews into a world beater? A bigger challenge would be to keep our vince fit for 6 months!
SamTheShrew Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 re the possible return of RSC - did we get the full 15 million upfront from city, or is it due in installments? If he is available at 4 million and we did get the full cash upfront, with our new financial security its a no brainer for me
67splitscreen Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Elmander 3.5m? Newcastle, Stoke and Liverpool three team rule? I would think Sam would be interested at that fee, wages who knows. My link
PAFELL Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 A bigger challenge would be to keep our vince fit for 6 months! The biggest challenge would be to sell both Grella and Andrews - nobody wants them.
Mr. E Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 what about the guy Morten suggested? Erik Huseklepp, 26 year old forward, plays for Brann in Norway, not the best goalscoring record, but supposedly a very hard worker who will want to prove himself in the Premiership.
SamTheShrew Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 you've answered your own question. We don't need anymore non-scoring strikers
