Majiball Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Positives are we still have the backroom people at Ewood who glued him together the first time and I tend to discount the time Ince and the dinosaurs were running the show at Ewood as they were utterly clueless- they couldn't even keep fit footballers in peak condition. But the medical team is only one part of the equation. Roden has to take a lot of credit he will have managed his fitness work and he's no longer with us, I also believe that was a key part in RSC wanting to go to City. He is unemployed at present.

Ricky Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Roden worked with sam before didn't he? And hasn't sam already said he wants to increase his back room team. Only a matter if time surely.
Majiball Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Roden worked with sam before didn't he? And hasn't sam already said he wants to increase his back room team. Only a matter if time surely. Indeed he did. Roden was fitness, Howard (our current SS) was strength and conditioning. Both are highly rated and he'd be a welcome addition to the team. But as to how you would accommodate him without stepping on toes is another matter. I think we could also do with another football coach one with an attack minded background to help us in that area and perhaps guide Niko & Junior a bit more. A full-time nutritionist, a researcher to support the SS team. And then perhaps expanding the match analysis team. Oh and a SS to work alongside every youth team squad coach. Please be aware that for the poultry price of a funded PHD LJMU could supply some very highly rated individuals.
Majiball Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 It's not easy to do just like that off the top of your head.I know from contacts & people i've meet over the years that player recruitment isn't easy and needs planning if it's to be done right. Obviously i know the score in Italy and other odds & sods across Europe,Who wants to leave in January, who wants a loan etc,Just like Alan does for England and Scotland. For what it's worth,i personally don't think you'd go down even if you signed no one during the next window. If i was your manager i would sign a striker with the £5 million, that in my opinion as a neutral is were you are weak this season,Maybe a midfielder if the budget go's that far,Surely that agency who went in with your owners can pull a rabbit out of the hat. Like people have said on here City could be a good place to shop,Pretty certain City will get a Striker in,maybe 2,4-5 could well leave. I could do a list of players who are looking to leave their clubs in Europe nearer to the Window opening,i'll have a better idea then. Thanks Roberto, I'd be quite keen to see the movers and shakers in Italy and these odds and sods if being honest. Cheers

pksrover Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 OK Maji I give up! please tell me (and possibly others) what the **** does SS stand for? sports science(/scientist)
Majiball Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 OK Maji I give up! please tell me (and possibly others) what the **** does SS stand for? Fair do's, my bad. SS stands for sports scientist. Gillian Mckeith? I think that's a bit like saying Jamie Oliver is a top chef since he hasn't got a Michelin star. If you want names there's 2 I know well but alas one is already at a Premier league club and the other believes that footballers are a bunch of soft nancy boys who don't train enough and well I'll leave it at that. This guys well spoken off though and publishes a lot in the field: Ron Maughan As for his applied experience and willingness???
Fife Rover Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 sports science(/scientist) Ah yes of course....now why didn't I think of that? Thanks a lot pks 1984
neophox Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Players out at the moment: Grella Andrews Nzonzi Please remember that these three all played in our central midfeld at times last season. Then Olsson who in my opinion was VERY good last season is out injured. Then we'll have Emerton back soon too. These players have improved alot this season: Jones Diouf Hoilett thats three new midfelders. Im a bit concerned about Dunn, he haven't shine so much, maybe his last season. But I think that we would all love to see Nzonzi back at his best, so all these players back in december we should be fine. At the moment this is our midfelders: Pedersen Hoilett Grella Andrews Dunn Diouf MB Diouf Jones Emerton If someone is to come in, Grella and Andrews to leave?
Amo Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Everton are reportedly looking to loan Becks. Could this be the marquee signing to christen Venky's takeover? Surely someone like Beckham would pay for himself in sponsorship and marketing?
neophox Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 oh, forgot Nzonzi and Goulon, also Olsson is playing wide left!
AggyBlue Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 what the **** does SS stand for? Fife, that shocked me

Add Lingazi (injured) , Goulon, Marrow, Judge and I think there is another young midfielder who is showing promise as well isn't there? Incidentally, anyone know when Handley will be fit again?
Fife Rover Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Fife, that shocked me Why did it shock you? You as the reader put your own word in there. I didn't have any particular word in mind.
philipl Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 SS = silly sausage Anyway Paul Plunkett has come out all guns blazing against spending £4m on RSC- says he is completely finished.
sweet Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Allardyce will have to be very careful if he is seriously considering trying to bring Santa Cruz back here in Jan. If Santa Cruz turns out to be unable to regain his fitness - well the owners, I would imagine, will be very unhappy about Sam spending their first serious transfer kitty on a player who is constantly injured, and will therefore definiately lose any re-sale value considering the wages he will be on. A very big gamble, not just on Santa Cruz himself, but possibly a very big gamble on our current managers future.
SamTheShrew Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 SS = silly sausage Anyway Paul Plunkett has come out all guns blazing against spending £4m on RSC- says he is completely finished. Yes because being a local reporter for a Rover's focused newspaper, he would have expenses paid for a lot of city training sessions and reserve games wouldn't he. Perhaps he is 'finished', but I'd put my faith in the management deciding this, not Paul Plunkett
Amo Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 We'd be laughing if someone paid us money for Grella. Now we're trying to sign another crock, who we already have first-hand experience with. IF Santa Cruz could stay fit, he'd be a brilliant signing, but that's a very big and brittle-boned 'IF'.
neophox Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Santa Cruz is one of the best strikers we could get for around 3-5 millions so if he proves he's fit he's definately worth it, remember we got 16 millions for him and we should be thankful of that, he cost almost what venkys bought rovers for, so in that perspective and if's fit I would welcome him back as I would with Bentley. I really can't understand why some people here moan about Santa Cruz commitment? He gave us alot of goals and we made big profit of him? It's the same with Bellamy, Bentley, Duff etc.....
nicko Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 I have had to bite my lip here for a couple of days. What a lot of total twaddle. Roque has hardly played for Man City since he joined them. Mark Hughes was axed because he had spent so much money on a half-fit player - along with Lescott. Before he left Rovers he dragged his heels and looked for a move for the last year of his time here. Radio Paraguay never had so many interviews. You had one great season out of him and a ridiculous profit for a player with bad knees. FFS. Move on.
neophox Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Nicko: Nice to see you here! Do you know something about Sam's targets in the january transfer window? Could Seb Larsson be a target?
Bobby G Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Other than his fitness, I would be more concerned about his motivation and drive to make it happen in his career again especially with the fact that he is so settled in the area.
Stuart Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Guardian reporting that Everton are looking at bringing Beckham in on a short term loan deal. We should be all over that. Talk about raising our (and Venky's) profile!
nicko Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 Do you know something about Sam's targets in the january transfer window? Could Seb Larsson be a target? The manager has obviously got some names in mind and others being looked at. However the first real teething problem with the new regime will be over who the club brings in. It is going to be an interesting few weeks. Larsson is on a list...but the manager seems to prefer Gary O'Neil at Middlesbrough. Some lively debate ahead.
