Have to agree with Nicko. IF we were to bring RSC back it would have to be on a loan deal at most, because his form for us in his second season combined with his Grella-esque fitness record since he left us do not justify spending any chunk of money on a permanent deal.

But he's not good enough. Our profile might be huge but if we're in the championship it wont really matter..

Couldn't disagree more. He's certainly good enough for us and would easily be our best midfielder.

I'd have him playing a Tugay type role spraying balls around the place with Goujon (early days) or someone with an engine as his enforcer.

For Beckhams wages do you not think we could find a more able central midfielder instead of playing an aged right sided midfielder out of position in the centre?? Beckham can play a long ball but we've got plenty of that already. Tugay had fantastic technique and the ability to beat players just through subtle movement and great touch. Becks couldnt do that, not in the premierleague.

Beckham has been overrated as a footballer for the past 3/4 years and it was a joke that he was included in the England set up for as long as he was.

He was a great player no doubt, but I cannot think of any reason why we'd take somebody like Beckham on now for football reasons. He would add virtually nothing to what we already have. Same boat as Pires. Marketing is obviously a different story.

The manager has obviously got some names in mind and others being looked at.

However the first real teething problem with the new regime will be over who the club brings in.

It is going to be an interesting few weeks.

Larsson is on a list...but the manager seems to prefer Gary O'Neil at Middlesbrough.

Some lively debate ahead.

Talk about stirring things up!!!

Jerome Anderson tries to fight his way way back in.

I have had to bite my lip here for a couple of days.

What a lot of total twaddle.

Roque has hardly played for Man City since he joined them. Mark Hughes was axed because he had spent so much money on a half-fit player - along with Lescott.

Before he left Rovers he dragged his heels and looked for a move for the last year of his time here. Radio Paraguay never had so many interviews.

You had one great season out of him and a ridiculous profit for a player with bad knees.

FFS. Move on.

Hang on Alan, people are discussing it because words about RSC's "type of player" have come direct from the horses mouth.

At face value BFS has given the link substance - its not like we are all pining for him out of nothing.

There appears to be something in it, so of course people will discuss its merits

Dodgiest knees since Jimmy Bullard. RSC is "fit" now though, right? A loan until the summer, and a midfielder or two, and we should be able to stay up quite comfortably.

Nightmare scenairo if the owners, or should I say their advisers, are going to start deciding who we buy.

8 million for someone who hasn't been in the form that earned him his good reputation for about 18 months now?

£8m is alot if money but we have a good reputation of getting the best out of players who have not been on great form.... Diouf, Bentley, McCarthy, Friedel, Warnock and Santa Cruz.

In my eyes if the player has quality then we could get the best out of him, and if Ireland could get some good form he would be superb.

Allardyce will have to be very careful if he is seriously considering trying to bring Santa Cruz back here in Jan.

If Santa Cruz turns out to be unable to regain his fitness - well the owners, I would imagine, will be very unhappy about Sam spending their first serious transfer kitty on a player who is constantly injured, and will therefore definiately lose any re-sale value considering the wages he will be on.

A very big gamble, not just on Santa Cruz himself, but possibly a very big gamble on our current managers future.

I doubt that Sam is looking at RSC. When has he ever clearly stated that he's wanted to buy a player and then went out and bought him? It only drives up the price. More likely he has another target and his interest in RSC is designed to drive the price down on that player.

I have to agree with you with regards to RSC. He had one good season and that was it. Yes he has skill, yes he was a good player. But with the dodgy knees he has he is finished at this level.

robbie is badly out of sorts so any move for him would be a gamble plus you can't just whack it long to keano coz the lad won't jump for a ball so dunn would either have to snap out of it or we would need to buy a playmaker.
