Majiball Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Your manager should follow him out of the door. He doesn't do away games does he. I'd been a bit cocky about yesterday prior to the match, saying we'd give them a game. Lets put it this way I gave up trying to reply to 54 sms messages I now have unanswered on my phone laughing at us. But your right our away record under Sam is awful. We played like headless chickens yesterday and I've to go down the royal to get treatment for shock.

Majiball Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Mr Nixon, Can I enquire whether there are any other names floating around? Its just I can't say I've thought that highly of Larsson or O'Neill. Surely you must have the name of a striker or two since its the main role we desperately need?
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 pedersen is back to his best why sell our one in form player, impressed with hoillet today, ran his heart out and morris looks a decent player.we need more pace at the back. We need more pace through out the team ! Larrson and O'Neil ! Do me a favour, they're no better than what we've already got.
MeanGreenMachine Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Tell me about the brilliant midfielders you'd sign for less than a 5 million budget then? (well probably half that since we need a striker too) a) When did i become rovers chief scout? Is this football manager? They dont have to be brilliant they just need to have some more dynamics about them rather than just being a bulk who runs around and doesnt do much. A midfield with about of pace and movement would be a novelty.

There are lots of names around just now. Last week there were three positions that needed filling. That may have increased over the weekend of course. Anyone still want to say this squad is definitely strong enough?

chaddyrovers Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 We need a new left back, ball winning midfielder, midfield playmaker and a TOP striker!!!
Oklahoma Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Nicko, is this the time we can hope to have Lassana Diarra in our midfield? He is on Real Madrid's transfer list.

Amo Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I'd take Alan Smith on the cheap. He'd give us that steel in midfield that we're lacking and he's a born leader.

Are of of the names floating around decent players or are we doomed to the likes of Larsson and O'Neill???? Cheers I'd take Alan Smith on the cheap. He'd give us that steel in midfield that we're lacking and he's a born leader. Alan Smith would be anything but cheap.
Paul Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Headline on the billboard outside our newsagent: "Meerkats and Monkeys for Sale in Blackburn" prophetic or what?
BPF Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 He did at Newcastle, and he did at Blackpool. Add Burnley to that and we have three wins in two seasons. Amazing stuff
bluebruce Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I'd take Alan Smith on the cheap. He'd give us that steel in midfield that we're lacking and he's a born leader. I couldn't be less interested in signing Alan Smith.
jim mk2 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 To stay up? Of course it is. It'd be naive to suggest otherwise. And naive to presume we cannot go down. Most of the teams below us won yesterday tightening the league even further. Anyone could be relegated this season - including us.
BuckyRover Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 If we are at risk of going down with Sam in charge, then why is he our manager? I thought he was in charge because he was one if the only managers who could keep us in the league? Hence why we have to take the rough with the smooth.

There are no guarantees in football, that's why it's so fascinating. People tend to put all the emphasis on the managers, but the players have a job to do as well.

I thought he was in charge because he was one if the only managers who could keep us in the league? Hence why we have to take the rough with the smooth. Different season this year. If strange results continue to occur for the rest of the season then it’s going to be very close indeed between survival and relegation. We aren't certs to go down but it would be foolish to think right now we won’t be involved in the battle for survival. Nicko, I really hope we are looking at a few midfielders, preferably ones better than O'Neill. We probably have the worst midfield in this league as evidenced by our lack of goals and lack of protection for our back four.
chaddyrovers Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 It would depend how much Money is available!!! Don't think any of us know how much is available.
ada2020 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Add Burnley to that and we have three wins in two seasons. Amazing stuff Bolton anyone
Amo Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I couldn't be less interested in signing Alan Smith. PL experience, ball-winner, never shirks a tackle. I'd love to have Smith here.
DanLad Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 PL experience, ball-winner, never shirks a tackle. I'd love to have Smith here. Slow, over-rated, nut job. Doesn't win many balls. Doesn't shirk a tackle, but can't tackle well. I'd hate to have Smith playing for us.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I couldn't be less interested in signing Alan Smith. Me too, he's finished. He was another Jason Roberts up front and in midfield he'd add nothing. He hasn't got the savvy for a creative role. If we're looking for somebody to kick people there'll be plenty out there who'd do it for a lot less money.

I am hot having a go at you here MGM, and I do understand what you are really getting at, but expressions/opinions similar to the bit that I have highlighted are quite commonly seen or heard these days amongst football supporters. Do they really believe that any young fit guy who can run around a bit and has pace and strength can expect to be accepted into a football club as a professional player if those are the only attributes he has? I can assure anyone who labours under any such delusions that they wouldn't even make the lowest level semi-pro leagues anywhere if that is all they had.
