Majiball Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Honda on the move Sam's marquee signing?. I wish. Well since Mrs Desia has said she won't go against the fans perhaps we should all start chanting for him on Saturday???
beerwins Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Well since Mrs Desia has said she won't go against the fans perhaps we should all start chanting for him on Saturday??? We would probably end up with one of those lovely Honda cub 80cc instead
67splitscreen Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 We would probably end up with one of those lovely Honda cub 80cc instead Useless to us, other than for pulling a stretcher. Our players would never recover from the G force.
Majiball Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Useless to us, other than for pulling a stretcher. Our players would never recover from the G force. I dunno with the number of sicknotes we have a motorised stretcher doesn't sound like a bad plan.

Fergie likes Jones. As a centre half. However if the kid is played in midfield it will be a sure way of keeping him at Rovers...
67splitscreen Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I dunno with the number of sicknotes we have a motorised stretcher doesn't sound like a bad plan. Hence the G force, strap um in for the ride of their lives. My mums mobility scooter travels faster, further and longer service intervals than our MF.
Hughesy Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Really do wonder if Liverpool will now show a serious interest in Jones too...Carragher expects to be out for 3 months!!
nicko Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Really do wonder if Liverpool will now show a serious interest in Jones too...Carragher expects to be out for 3 months!! Liverpool need a new centre half - among many other positions. But will they trust Woy to find them? Have my doubts.
Hughesy Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Liverpool need a new centre half - among many other positions. But will they trust Woy to find them? Have my doubts. Maybe they wont trust Woy...but Jones is a pretty safe bet considering the likes of Chelsea, United, Arsenal & City are all showing interest in him. Regardless of the manager he is fairly low risk if you believe the hype.
rovgers Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 "Manchester United are planning to make summer moves to sign Aston Villa youngster Ciaran Clark and Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones." http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/11/29/manchester-united-set-sights-on-28m-move-for-aston-villa-and-blackburn-rovers-youngsters/ Nicko surely some mishtake? That article said that utd are going to spend 28mill on both but on a related article they've wrote that the villa player is worth 8 mill. Are they trying to say that Jones is worth 20 mill?
tony gale's mic Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Yeah... he's been mentioned before. Poor fella in that ad with Peds & Riise. Less than 30 goals in five years of Norwegian football? No thanks. He's been playing as a winger apparently.
Fife Rover Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 We would probably end up with one of those lovely Honda cub 80cc instead Well if it's one each I wouldn't mind that too much.
BuckyRover Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 If Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea want him. He is definitely worth £20m
philipl Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 If Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea want him. He is definitely worth £20m But he's worth more to us playing at Ewood.
tony gale's mic Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Is an excellent centre half worth more to us than two £10 million rated players, especially up front and in creative midfield? I'm not so sure...
Oklahoma Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 German press have mentioned that Werder Bremen are interested in Caicedo. (according to the site calciomercato). They also mention that Aston Villa and Birmingham want Robbie Keane.
rovgers Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 But he's worth more to us playing at Ewood. Is he? maybe in the long term, to replace Nelsen, but with the position he's playing now are we not better spending the money from his sale on a specialised midfielder?
Earlydoors Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Liverpool need a new centre half - among many other positions. But will they trust Woy to find them? Have my doubts. If NESV are calling the shots we can probably expect them to avoid expensive, young, unproven potential and go for experience, value for money and reliability Season 2009/10 38 apps Roger Johnson - Birmingham Paul Scharner - West Brom 37 apps Richard Dunne - Aston Villa 36 apps Carlos Cuellar - Aston Villa 35 apps Titus Bramble - Sunderland It might not sit well with the Kop but the bottom line is players get paid whether they play or not. Be interesting to see whether they can find the next Tony Gale or Ian Pearce.
BuckyRover Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 If Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea want him. He is definitely worth £20m I am not advocating his sale, only his value. If they offer £20m it then becomes his choice.

Oh how I would love the howls of protest from their fans if they become home to the leagues 'honest pros'. Because, of course, LFC and their supporters 'deserve' the best
Backroom Tom Posted November 30, 2010 Backroom Posted November 30, 2010 Is an excellent centre half worth more to us than two £10 million rated players, especially up front and in creative midfield? I'm not so sure... Nope, especially if that excellent centre half is playing in midfield. If £20m was offered it would really be a no brainer.
Torgeir Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Liverpool need a new centre half - among many other positions. But will they trust Woy to find them? Have my doubts. Brede Hangeland?
budha Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Is an excellent centre half worth more to us than two £10 million rated players, especially up front and in creative midfield? I'm not so sure... We have to remember that it's not only about the transfer fees, but wages also. From the top of my head I would imagine Jones costing us about £1M/yr at the moment in wages. Two £10M players from market would cost us £5M/yr in wages (£50k/w * 2). So if we assume that we'll have to sell Jones at summer 2012 because he wants to test himself at the highest level, we'll have saved £6M by keeping him until 2012 and not selling him now.
