Tuncay is a talented lad, being paid a lot of money. I don't see Stoke - chasing yourselves in the table - would oblige with a cheap deal there.

I would love you to compare the records rather than dream of Roque's golden season...

And a pay-as-you-play deal would involved SOMEONE still picking up his £90,000-a-week salary. It would be a matter if how you split it.

It should not even be discussed.

To be honest, Benjani probably has more to offer. And we have seen how that has worked. Not fit, not picked, behind Jason - the Man With No Number - Roberts.

I'm with you on this one, forget Santa Cruz , He shat on us big style in his last season, the guys a charlatan.

I can't agree with Cruz coming back, we cannot take the risk, we need players for the remainder of the season without injury records longer than War and Peace.

Kranjcar yes and even a Tuncay type to replace Dunny, I doubt we will get 90min from him again, when he limps off we have to change the system and as was proved yesterday the injuries and lack of fitness are taking there toll on his game, his purple patch last season I fear is the last we will see of what he is capable of.

Tuncay being replaced by Dunny for 10-15 minutes would be a better option.

I'd also like to have a look at Dos Santos, spuds I believe paid around 4m for him with another 4m on appearances.

With a couple of decent MF signings IMO we could maintain our current position at least.

Tuncay and Kranjcar for around the 5m mark would be decent. (wages ????)

Yes---Dos Santos--------the forgotten man. Good Shout! Its amazing how many players Spuds have and don't use. Still prefer Bentley though!

This thread is proving that football fans are a sentimental bunch with selective memories.

RSC has only had one good season in his entire career. A few weeks ago on this board you wouldn't have found one member who spoke about how well we have done to get rid of him. Signing him would represent nothing other than Sam entirely losing his touch in the transfer market, which would be sad because for me that was one of the only plus points about having him as manager.

Stating the obvious maybe but adding a quality midfielder would make a massive difference to us as a team. Currently the quality is lacking so much in that department.

The People reporting that a now fit Jimmy Bullard could go on loan for as little as 15K per week (Hull paying the other 30K).

I'd like to see him play for us from Jan to June.

Unfortunately, it would probably be from Jan to Feb with his recent history...

What does "pay as you play" mean precisely? That he gets no wages other than for his appearances in the first team?

ISTR that Franny Jeffers was on a 'pay as you play' contract which was a basic wage of 10K per week, plus bonuses.

Not bad work if you can get it!

I think Rovers would pay him a basic amount then he would get more if he featured in games, but if Rovers were to get him on loan then there is the small matter of his wages, I would imagine that City would pay a large amount of it as they have done with Bellamy at Cardiff.

we're joint second in the form table yet he still receiving such criticism, ridiculous! As you are sam

I reallylike this table. Long may our good form continue.

If we only have 5 million, I think it should be spent on the midfield. I think it would go further for a real quality midfielder, as opposed to a quality striker. Let's maximize the bang for the buck (or pound, as the case may be).

Seriously, if RSC is the best option we have right now, I prefer we call back Blackman from his loan. At least, he has been playing and scoring goals.

Recalling Blackman should be considered. He's doing well in Scotland, is home grown and can only underscore to younger taltented players that Blackburn is the team to sign for if you want a chance at the PL.

No offence but your comparing Keith Andrews standard league to Premier league...big step up as most fans will say Keith found!

No offense taken. But unless the opportunity is given, we'll never know whether the player can step up. And Blackman has done everything we've asked of him well and deserves his chance.

And I'd hope that the Scottish PL is better quality than League Two. If so, then the prospect that Blakman can step up is much greater than that confronting Andrews.

The complication is if you do a deal like this the player is going to expect to keep his current salary - but the club that takes him is going to have to pay a proportion of it. The more he plays, the more of that they pay.

As Roque is under contract that would mean Rovers paying Man City - for example - £40,000 every time he plays.

Is it worth it?

Why are we discussing it?

No...and beyond me...would be my answers to those two questions.

There HAS to be a better alternative.

Hang on, so we get a world class centre forward and only pay him every time he plays?

Regarding RSC if we could persuade City to pay half his 90k p.w. wages it would presumably cost us about 1m to take him until the end of the season.

If he stays fit he is potentially top class. Where else are we going to find a potentially top class acquisition for a total outlay of 1m?

I'm only looking at this in light of a restricted transfer budget and the need for a creative midfielder. If our January budget was unlimited I'd agree with you entirely.

In view of his injury record, I'd only like to see him as an outright addition as well. I wouldn't like to see Roberts out, RSC in on loan for example.

Personally agree with many on here calling for resources to Br put into midfield.. We have plenty of striking options.. Midfield creativity is where we lack...

I don't agree with this. We have more quality in midfield than we do up front. Diouf, Pedersen and Jones are all doing very well at the moment, Emerton looks like he still has a bit to offer, Olsson and Hoilett are promising.

On the other hand Roberts is the only one of our strikers who looks at all servicable and its pretty nailed on he will be sold. Benjani has looked decent but permanently injured. Kalinic has not even got out of the starting blocks. Striker is the clear priority imo.

ps. Hard to disagree with Rev's logic - if it is a truely pay as you play it is a very sound option.

What would be a tragedy though is if we sold Roberts and brought in RSC as we could end up with both Benjani and RSC in the treatment room and have to rely on Kalinic.

I wouldn't want to pay RSC a penny. A one season wonder. Gave Rovers a good season, a good sell on fee. But we do not need another player to join the sick room. He is finished as a player for the prem. There are a lot of better options out there. Bellamy would be a better option - at least he would be paid for playing football. Even Michael Owen is a better option if you want to pay the amounts people are talking about on here - but both RSC and Owen have one thing in common - both injured most of the time.

Have you seen his statistics?

I'm fully aware of his injury record but I bet those 'statistics' would read very differently had he not spent the last 18 months at Manchester City.

I think I'm correct in suggesting he's fit at the moment?
