bazza Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 They obviously see the profile of their accusation needs raising to show they mean business . The best deliberate malapropism I've seen for many a year. Well done, Splitscreen.

Andy Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Heard today that Matt Derbyshire is trying to put feelers out for a return to Rovers. Only way I'd be happy with that was if he was slightly more humble than when we shipped him out and was willing to actually deserve a first team spot, rather than believing that he's owed one.
Oklahoma Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 He already has a lot of work trying to use Dunn, Benjani and others. I think that, since there is some money, Rovers should try to sign a first team player that could stay here for many years. I was going to write the priority is midfield but, with the exception of the GK, the defense, the midfield and attack need new players. And obviously, we need to let go some of our players.
Backroom Tom Posted December 8, 2010 Backroom Posted December 8, 2010 Heard today that Matt Derbyshire is trying to put feelers out for a return to Rovers. No chance, he wasn't good enough back then and he's not good enough now
Doaksie Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 No chance, he wasn't good enough back then and he's not good enough now Agree. Don't think he'd offer us anything. I think we should be setting the bar higher than that. He's hardly set the world alight at Birmingham. If he wasn't a local lad I think the numbers calling for a return would be even less. Where would he even fit into our system - don't think he has the pace for the right hand side attacking position. On second thoughts, maybe a non-goal scoring forward is exactly our style.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I think he blew it big time with Sam in the Man City game a while back. There's seconds left to play , we're winning 2-1 and we're trying desperately to hold out. Derbyshire picks up the ball on our right hand side with all of Ewood Park to run into. Does he pin back his ears and run to the far corner flag ? Err, no he passes an aimless ball back into midfield, we lose possession, City play it into our box, across to Robinho and it's 2-2. Thanks for coming Matty. It's the sort of play that if your 10 year old son did the same thing on the local common you'd have your head in your hands. I don't think he played a game for us after that !
chaddyrovers Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Has Derbyshire even started a game yet? he didn't come on at the weekend did he?
John Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Remember that Man City game, it took me ages to get over that one.....
Backroom Tom Posted December 8, 2010 Backroom Posted December 8, 2010 Yep it was an absolute gutting feeling after Roberts super header it looked like game over until we let them back in.
rog of the rovers Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Would love Robbie Keane at Rovers, simply so he won't score against us! I think he could play the number 10 role, as part of the midfield five. Yeah you would lose something defensively, but he's such an intelligent player it would be well worth the defensive sacrifice.

We currently have Dunn ambling around our midfield. We'd lose nothing defensively.
Darwen Rover Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 We currently have Dunn ambling around our midfield. We'd lose nothing defensively. Ideal dunn replacement
Backroom Tom Posted December 8, 2010 Backroom Posted December 8, 2010 Bit unfair S15, I'd say Dunny does a pretty perfect job of being fat and past it most of the time, no replacement needed!
bazza Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 The trouble with Dunny is that he runs around as if he were still a 20 year old whereas he should be sitting in centre midfield and using his skill and experience to spray passes around.

There's still some gas left in the tank, but he needs to get a run of games in order to get himself fit. He scored 10 goals last season, so I don't agree with the assessment that he should become more of a holding player - he's better when he can run at defences and vary his play by either running past or delivering some excellent through balls.

LeChuck Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 A winger/attacking midfielder who knows where the goal is? His record in the French league is very good for a midfielder. No harm in having a look I guess.
bennyboyt11 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Not a set piece specialist however! Thought I remembered the name
Torgeir Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Good attacking player, but hasn't played top level football in a few years it seems. I saw him during the 2008 African Nations Cup and he stood out for Guinea and helped them to the knockout stage of the competition.
Roberto Policano Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Feindouno was class 5 years back,Milan & Juve were thinking of making a move, but never did. Better player than anything you have now in his hay day.Question of whether he still has it.
Iceman Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 agree Roberto, Feindouno if i remember correctly, was being chased by a number of Italian clubs. think Roma and Lazio were also looking. he is one of those players, who has lost their way, who Sam might rescue. worrying thing is, why did he land up in Saudi Arabia? before the takeover, i would have said great, but now im not so sure. its a trial, so nothing to lose i suppose.
alexanders Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 From his wiki: * On 24 September 2008 he moved to Al-Sadd Sports Club in the Qatar National First Division for € 7 Million, signing a contract for four years * Celtic F.C are reported to be interested in the midfielder and have apparently offered him a trial. Sounds like a good player who can play everywhere in the attack.
Bobby G Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 At his peak he was an exciting player. However, moving to the Middle East, then not being "wanted" there effectively at 29 tells me that he has dipped significantly. Maybe he isnt even 29 years old in the first instance.
