FEINDOUNO...a good old-fashioned Sam target...he has been asked for a 'test'...but in the meantime he is at Celtic for a week...and impressing...see how that one plays out.

BENTLEY...interesting...but can't see him fancying the step down - and he is on mega dough...it's a new name every day at the moment.

In fairness, got to say there are more interesting names being linked with the club in the last week than there has been for some time.

Trouble is actually landing people.

But it's potentially more lively than it has been for a couple of windows now.

Need to take into account that January is usually a very difficult time to sign players (so they say).

If we are not able to land our top target(s), I would prefer we aim for loan deals who we think can make an “impact” in the short-term rather than part with too much money (wait for the summer for when there should be more availability).

As stated previously, we could be in a decent position in the table come January therefore 2 quality additions could have a significant impact and also boost the club/team.

I think that’s the key here Nicko.

Despite many people on this site getting over excited come deadline day in the past few years, the more level headed amongst us have know we’d do little or no business in reality, simply didn't have the funds.

But with the new owners now on the scene, whilst I don’t see us doing major business, its good to have the potential to do something should the right player come along, that option has been missing for a while now.

Mr Bentley has a very high opinion of himself... but lacks intelligence hugely!

A nice lad but in his own world at times.

I still remember seeing him knock a ball into the bushes at training...and go after it by climbing on top of a wheelie bin that was perched beside and partly above a spiked fence.

One slip and £15 million was gone.

You could not make it up.

That England Cap... probably doubled his price I would have thought he was an 8 - 9 million pound player with good resale value

I wouldnt see Spurs ressies to Rovers 1st team as a step down...however I cannot see him taking the walk of shame & admitting he got it wrong.

As for mega dough...he WAS offered more than his £50k a week to stay.

I think somebody at the LET has been reading this messageboard. Apart from the LET has any other media outlet linked Rovers with Bentley?

He is a player who needs to get back to playing week in week out to get his form back - sadly his ego as well.

I wouldn't mind Clinton Dempsey at Rovers - better than Andrews / Grella

Seem to remember Caroll being mentioned as a possible transfer target over 12 months ago, I really rate the lad and he’d certainly fit into our system, but we don’t have 20m spare.....

A classic example of taking a punt on a youngster. There were many after Carroll - including Big Sam in fairness - when the Toon was at a low point. Add Megson's Bolton and Wolves to that list.

Newcastle did not sell. One of their better decisions in recent times.

There would be some queue for him now if he left - despite all of the baggage.
