we idealy need 5 players, 2 strikers, a right winger, creative midfielder and a left back. we can cope for now with not signing a left back, however the other positions are vitally important. Krankjar, Bentley/SWP, Keane and either one of Carew, Jo, Luca Toni ;) or RSC

STRIKER...still looking.

MIDFIELD...think they have a top target...waiting to find out how far it has gone.

Think the manager was 'upbeat' about the news from the India meeting. There will be money. Now it's a case of all sides coming with names.

The midfielder I know about would be in the 'improving' category.

Only difference from recent times is that this time the owners seem keen to spend a bit.

What actually came of this meeting in India with Kentaro? Anything?

Yes basically as PROMISED - there is clearly cash there from Venkys, as Nicko has admitted with the quality of players being targetted.

Is it too much to ask for Bentley on loan....a top midfielder...and a new striker?

It's looking that way, unless someone arrives from the shadows.Shakhtar would take him,but player not interested.

Milan would let him go for free,to anyone picking up his £141,000 a-week wages, why not throw your hat in the ring.

Roma accepted a 3 million Euro bid for Adriano from Corinthians yesterday.Just leaves player and club to sort out contract now and that could happen too.

Tell you what Ronaldinho on a free, even at 141,000 a week is one hell of a deal, if you can get in his head. Hows Cassano coming along is he any nearer to joining Rovers??? lol.

I've always liked Adriano he's one hell of a player provided everything is right.

Obviously some good deals to be had out there at present, I wonder if Kentaro could have a word with them?

that would be 7.5 million a year, hes 31/32, hmmmm maybe a bit too much

cut his wages to a tiny tiny 70,000 a week then might be worth it

My oh my. There is some terrible tripe about...

TARGET...the 'midfield' player is a goodie...no idea if you can land him...but there is a will from the manager...and there is money from the owners...and he is NOT a Kentaro player for the conspiracy theorist.

BENTLEY...when you find out who the target is you will realise why I don't see Bentley happening...and from what I gather there is nothing in Bentley as it happens anyway.

STRIKER...still up for grabs...plenty of names coming up...plenty of names being looked at...but as of last night there is NO striker that far down the road to Ewood.

The point seems to be lost that - at the moment - it is a case of [1] the owners coming up with good money which they seem to be promising and [2] who can find the players to spend it on - either the manager or Kentaro.

This is a new process. The manager seems to be calm about this now which is probably because there is money to spend which should help him after two years of famine.

There will no doubt be much screaming and questioning when players actually start signing in this window. It's what some people do.

It will also be revealing about the political state behind the scenes.

But the bottom line is as long as they are good players who gives a stuff how they get here...

He's only 30. So out of sorts at Milan and still sat on 20 in 65, 1 in 3 there and 1 in 2 at Barca the boy would out score our whole team. He's the Brazilian Dunn and given we're already used to have a slightly plump creative genius in that role he'd slot straight in, lol.

If no-one wants him? No Brazilian club could afford it. Stick him on a nice basic around what you state with performance pay up to about what he earns currently and get Kentaro to earn their crust. Given their high level of involvement with his national team surely Jerome could man handle him into on of our shirts or even Adriano.

I just don't think you'd get a player like him for 70K, Guti wanted that and was 33 when we enquired.

The optimist in me tells me that if we could get through this December period and be in around 6-8th place we'd be an attractive proposition to one of the three mentioned players or others from a quality ilk.

If only though.

A couple of questions:

Will you know "who" has signed the new players and will you be able to disclose it?

Is the midfielder Ronaldinho??? lol. Seriously though care to rate him 1-10? (not goofy, the player you know about)

Can we rest assured that we are chasing players of a higher calibre than the likes of O'neill & Co?

Last one, have we been linked to any of the unmentioned players in your comments before?

Cheers

I usually find out who is doing the deals - preferably before they happen but sometimes only after.

No, it's not Ronaldinho. But now you have mentioned it I am sure the owners will be on the blower to Brazil.

The targets seem to be better than the Gary O'Neils at the moment. But you have to land them first.

Mister X will remain a secret for a bit longer until I establish one final element of the tale.

Since you'll know who does the deal, will you then let us know? Love the way you've manoeuvred past that part.

Very funny, but its nice to know the club rates my opinion. :P

At least that's something not even Middlesbrough fans rate him, or at least the ones here don't seem to.

Does that imply your prepared to start the Mr X, guessing game again?

I think your comment about Bentley probably points to a right winger. Come on down SWP :xmas:

How about we finally put a bid in for Lassana Diarra, although I imagine we will be well priced out.

Ah well let's go for beckham instead.

It will most likely never happen, but signing a player of serious calibre ala Anelka at Bolton as a one off would do wonders for every aspect of our club. If the new owners want to create a positive impression of their tenure something like that would shut up everyone, within and outside of the club. Players would be seriously lifted, fans would be buzzing and if we could sit in or around 8th come January who knows where we could finish.

Sam's dead right to call for a Gala signing and I hope they support his wishes in that aspect as I honestly think it would galvanise the club once more. I guess given Nicko's comments that the owners do see the positives in what Sam has said (as he's now talking about good money available), now I guess its just about defining "Gala".

And I'd still have DB here in a heartbeat. :P

I'd prefer we didn't look at holding midfielders, not unless they can spread the ball Tugay-esque. Whilst Diarra is class, I'm not sure he's exactly what we're looking for atm. Not to mention he's out of our league.
