Have I missed something? Why is everyone throwing around crazy names and sums? We're Blackburn Rovers.

Nicko said he will reveal the name of the midfielder, and that we could break our club record fee to sign him. Has epl experience, but did not mention if he still playing in the league, or at another foreign club.

Could it perhaps be this guy, Emre Belözoğlu? Did he play for Sam during his barcode days?

On his day a cracking player.

On a side note i would like to agree with Herbergeh about Harmet Singh. A fantastic player already and by far the best player in the Norwegian league. Only 20 years old, "Indian", and he would probably only cost around £1 million, so absolutely worth the gamble..

I personally think he will become a top player. Only 20 years old, but very likely to break into the Norway set-up soon. He's been dominating as a central midfielder for Vålerenga this season, playing in a demanding role with both attacking and defensive responsibility. He scored five goals, and had eleven assists.. I like him because he plays to his strengths, and rarely loses possession.

People will disagree with me, but in my opinion he would strengthen our central midfield today - and certainly in the future.

He's good, and continuing to develop. Plays very mature for his age, but he's a bit small and could do with some more aggression. He's not very quick either, not in the first yards and not over a longer stretch. I think he'll be a Norway regular pretty soon and would definitely be worth a punt - wouldn't cost much either as you say.

Harmeet Singh is by no means ready for the Premier League..way way too lighweight still..furthest shout would be a buy, and a loan back.

Regarding Phil Jones, if Chelsea bids 17M+ for him, and Big Sam was promised every penny to reinvest, I would sell in a heartbeat. This considering we have to good DC's, and the money could be used on creativity and goals..

I think we only have seen the beginning of Phil Jones (the England captain). If he's worth £17 million now then he's worth at least as much in another three or four years. So many times in the past we have sold before buying, and haven't been able to fully replace our outgoings. If we know someone's interested, let them wait until we find suitable players. If we can't find any, then don't sell :D

I've said £20m in the past for Phil and we should sell, and we certainly need to seriously consider any bid in that region.

Sissoko and Muntari are the most believable guesses yet, but I wouldn't give 8 million for any of them at this stage in their careers.

A choice between EPL and Turkey, he would think he would choose EPL.

At Besiktas he would probably be paid somewhere around what he would earn at Rovers, he would be living in a nice warm climate and play in two of the biggest derbies in the world. I can certainly see the attraction. Anyway, he would be my first choice of the names that has been mentioned (I'm talking about Manuel Fernandes, ex-Everton now at Valencia).

I'm thinking Diarra or hopefully Robben.

Need someone with a bit of creativity.

Can`t see Robben coming to a club without European football plus he is the local hero at Bayern.

Would love Muntari or Diarra - both of which would improve our midfield staright away :-)

8m on a MF player, he better be good, goals, quality and no sick note.

Personally for that sort of money I would have liked Dos Santos and Kranjcar, which may have been doable with that budget, kill two birds with one wadge.

If we spend that sort of money the striker has to be a loan deal, (RSC?) unless the Raos are willing to pump in a lot more than we expected in January.

Im rubbing my eyes is disbelief that some people would consider selling Jones. First time since Duff we have had a true world class talent coming through, people want to flog him off.

Yep, totally agree with you MGM.

I thought the idea of us having funds meant that we were no longer a selling club. We've never bettered ourselves by selling our better players and that wont ever change. If the time comes when we have no option to sell him, then OK he'll have to go. Let's not be wanting rid of a good player though.

It's an ingrained transfer bitch mindset, after we had the Trust turn the taps off, people get used to it, bit like Stockholm Syndrome.

Lets be honest here, regardless of who the midfield player is, to be trading in this market again is a boost for everyone involved with the club.

The only way Allardyce will ever consider changing his style of football is possibly with better players, and we now look able to bring a few in, so things are looking up.

Diarra please, but thats surely a pipe dream.
