[Archived] Rovers Takeover: End game ?

I am not going to post what a friend who met him described him as!

Incidentally if you watch the Match of the Day re-run you can see a blue divider directly behind them. In other words they were in the Rovers' private area but sat as far away from JW, Sam and the Rovers Directors and families as possible.

They were fully 15 rows back!

Talk about "you are here but we wish you weren't"

I wonder if you could consider the possibility that Syed's PR people have used you and BPF? They've leaked info to you, made you feel a bit special and you've "gone native", by which I mean you've forgotten why you are on here in the first place. You're meant to be a Rovers Supporter not a Syed supporter. No doubt you could rationalise the two but I always wondered why you strayed so far from your "trust threTrust" to get it right mantra.

I supported Syed's bid too. I was genuinely excited about it. But Sam put us right weeks ago, he wouldn't have said what he said without a reason. And if the reason is that the Trust don't believe Syed will do what he says he says he would do then we've all been saved from a bad experience.

Clearly the VH sale will go through, presumably this week.So how about getting over the grumps? No takeover is without any risk but its time for all to get behind it. We don't have a choice anyway do we?

There's no reasoning here Jal-----just plain old prejudice. Just remember that Philip wants to sell us to another and even more unknown Indian won't you?

If the story was about a local Indian businessmen with knowledge and understanding of Rovers and the English premier league wanting to takeover Rovers, then this would be quite another matter as obviously they would be fit and proper to take Rovers forward.

Ok-round and round we go. You were defending posters who want Syed to get the nod. Syed is not to my knowledge a local businessman. You are obfuscating.

I'm assuming you are talking about posts I've made on ICBINF, if you recall RACE does not matter one iota to me, but thanks for the not so subtle smear.

The fact these bidders are from a business culture so massively removed from Premier League football does not sit easy with many on here, the fact that Kentaro seem likely to be big players even more so.

It wasn't a smear, I know race is an important issue for you because of your posts in ICBINF, yes, but I didn't highlight that in a derogatory way, I just meant I understood why you might respond to my mention of xenophobia. If you choose to interpret it in a negative light there's nothing I can do about that, but it certainly wasn't intended in that way.

For what it's worth, Peter Ridsdale is an English businessman who 'knew' the Premier League & football culture and still managed to oversee the ruin of Leeds, nearly take Barnsley into liquidation, and also take Cardiff hugely into debt. I stand by my belief that nationality is not the issue, and I've stated twice now that I have concerns about the current bid, and am not saying otherwise.

People supported Syed for one reason (I believe)- he was going to blow a load of cash on us (supposedly) and saw Rovers as a hobby, a mini Sheikh Mansour if you will.

Of course, VH could see Rovers as a loss leader for their company, if so, I see the benefit, the example of companies bankrolling Formula 1 teams for the profile it gives springs to mind.

However, if VH see us as a money making business, Kentaro's involvement gives me chills, I and I assume others believe it will end in tears.

RACE is not an issue for me in the slightest, but you carry on.

What a load of ######! You clearly don't know what you are talking about. 15 rows back? From where I sit in the BE I could see the Venky Party on the 2nd row of the directors box. If you are right, JW and Sam were sat in the press box.

How much is Syed paying you for this bullshit?

No, simply dont want any of them to take over Rovers on the fact that non have any credentials to do a worthy job for our football club long term.

One big fact for all local Rovers fans here in Blackburn is, the plan of show casing players from the Kentaro agency to sell on, sorry, but this is not what Rovers fans want to hear as they want the players to be as loyal as possible to the club and them otherwise why would they continue to support Rovers.

The future of Rovers IS, as it always has been, shaped on creating its own legacy, and not that of hiring a merry go round of mercenary players, many local fans simply wouldnt go to Ewood if this was the case.

I am against Kentaro, however the team is full of mercenaries now. Many fans I know do not give much of a @#/? about most of the players, it is the good health of the club that matters.

We have been a club that struggle to hold on to top players for much of our history, relatively recently Bellamy, Roque, Warnock spring to mind.

The one thing that no current Rovers fan can deny is, that the Rovers team dont play for one another, to think otherwise is just plain ignorance.

The only thing the current Rovers team is missing is more goals in the team.

Of course we would all love a local person or a fan to buy the club but that was never going to happen. We had our turn of that type of owner when we had Jack and I can't imagine another like him, not in my lifetime anyway.

The trust who have access to all the information and background research have decided that the VH Group as the way forward. Do I agree with this decision? I honestly have no opinion one way or the other as I don't know the reasons why one bid has been chosen over another and ultimately only time will tell whether it was the correct one or not.

I am not knocking the players, they do on the whole put the effort in and there seems to be a good atmosphere around the place, but do fans have a connection with the players of today? The likes of Tugay aside, the majority of them as just professionals passing through

Fans only begin to have a connection with players when they the players begin to be successful in a Rovers shirt.

I get the impression that, for a significant number of posters, Phillip's credibility was shot some time ago. For me it went with his impartiality.

Sorry I've not been on in a few hours, I was busy using the money Syed has paid me to go on a bit of a splurge.

The information that we received was not from Syed's PR department but was indeed validated by them.

Allow me to be crystal clear on this. I'm not pro Syed. Based on what I know now, I suspect that he rather cleverly went about his business in order to enhance his public reaction very cheaply. It was a ploy that is nothing short of genius.

You can badmouth Philip all you want, but there issues with Venkys.

I can confidently swear on my own life that there are problems and arguments amongst people at the top and these concerns have come about very recently. I'm not saying that this will stop the takeover but I think that it is important to have it documented that there was concerns about VH from the very start.

There may be issues, or there may not. But when Philip comes out with blatant lies that people who were at Ewood yesterday could see were not true, then that is a different matter.

What "credentials" do you feel are needed?

Did Abramovich have these "credentials"?

Did Lerner have these "credentials"?

How do you know this "fact"? Are you on the Trust?

Furthermore,

If VH come out in the next week with more details and I'm happy with what they have to say, then I will give my full support to them.

I hate to go over the same point, but there are still to many unanswered questions / potentially dangerous areas for people to be giving full support to this.

I think some of you are really desperate to see some action in the transfer market, the promise of £5 million has you willing to see the ground renamed and JW replaced...

I fear that if VH came out and said "We will be looking to remove any reference of Jack Walker from Blackburn Rovers, it is our time now." There would still be people on the board saying "Well he had a good run, but it's time for the future now."

Good Post.. I just have one question honestly. would you rather

1. A guy says he is worth 8 billion dollars when no one even in his own town that Goldberg thankfully discovered has heard of him or his family.Plans to invest 300 million into rovers over 5 years, Promised to take us to the top and buy players like Beckham, bid gets rejected/sidelined by the trust.

OR

2. A company who is successful in what they are doing, Listed and documented accounts, Proved to the trust they are capable of taking rovers forward, Smart lines about investment plans and realistic targets.

The concerns you are talking about from the start probably has to do with Kentaro's involvement, I know nothing about Kentaro, but you know our club, JW would never make an announcement like that if there were serious doubts from the start (he did make you eat a copy of the mirror). VH are dealing with a trust, a number of people everyone wont agree on everything, the important thing is that the important things have been agreed.

I completely understand your nervousness about this and all rovers fans should be nervous, any change always makes people nervous but the important thing is to remember at the end of the day whatever decision the trust make we all have to support and back it no matter what details you may or may not know, may or may not have heard because our club needs us more in a period of change and uncertainty then ever before.

To be honest with you, it is Kentaro's involvement that worries me the most. VH could have easily been led up the garden path on this one. If scenario two that you have outlined is reality then they have my support. VH need a team of people who know and care about Blackburn Rovers. JW would be ideal to do this. If this isn't the case then Blackburn Rovers will be a club ran by agents who are funded by chicken farmers.
