:rover: you've no chance den, apart from a few on here every rovers fan i've spoken to are dreading this takeover :brfc:

Well most fans I've spoken to have said it's time to take a risk.

Staying as we are will lead to relegation in the short/medium term and the disaster that will entail.

VH may not be the answer, but The Trust defintely are not.

Very, very harsh.

I think if you talked to a lot of rovers fans they would very likely admit to having serious concerns. Those concerns are quite valid as well, since there has hardly been anything that could be seen as really positive come to the fore - as yet.

MODS: could be a good time now [seeing that we are probably a week or two away from the deal being done] to have a poll?

Something along the lines of "how do you feel about the proposed takeover by VH". "very worried" "quite concerned" Quite optimistic" - that kind of thing.

The results would be interesting.

I disagree, of course its normal to have worries and misgivings about this. Its the constant editorialising I was criticising and the inconstancies in his arguments, the frequent changing of positions to suit his current argument.

I'm all for a decent conversation on the merits of this takeover. It is difficult at the moment though as we have so little solid information to base this on. Some people seem to have made their minds up based on rumours and PR which is something we need to avoid.

And still you do not understand that I was reflecting what I was hearing- there were numerous twists and turns.

When I stated my opinion, I clearly indicated it to be what I thought.

Outside of the Blackburn bubble, most people are looking at what is happening with astonishment- the sort of astonishment when you can see a car crash is about to happen to someone you know.

Thats exactly the point. People having doubts or concerns is healthy and perfectly understandable. But when some people rattle off 4/5 reasons which have absolutely no foundation then it gets tedious.

I dont see how a poll will help right now. Nobody understands what VH intend to do with the club at the moment. All we hear is speculation or rumour which some people are trying to pass as fact.

A poll after the club has been bought and when the new owners actually give some kind of information into their short/long term strategies will perhaps be a more accurate assessment of where the fans stand.

The fact is that the Trust feel that we'd be in safer hands with Venky's then Syed or Shah. That for me overrides any of the unsubstantiated rumours flying about. Its a risk but staying as we are right now is arguably a greater one.

Right now, I feel cautiously optimistic. I think its a good thing that we're being taken over but whether these guys can take the club forward is not known. Their motives may be suspect but at the end of the day they share a common aim - they want to see Rovers being successful just as we do. This had to happen at some stage and its natural to be sceptical. January will show exactly how far we've moved on.

Speaking for "most" people now?

Deluded

Sums up your recent posts, has absoloutley no founding in reality nor is it in the slightest bit constructive. Shame.

If anything the only enthusiasm I've heard/read is from Rovers fan exiles.

I must say though, that most of the concern from people within Blackburn is based on a lot of uncertainty and not facts. It's the not knowing that's feeding a lot of the paranoia.

Let's be fair here...that's as unsubstantiated as anything you're accusing Phil of.

But you wanted Syed to be our owner?!! And there were so many more concerns regarding him.

Do you not think that when Syed announced that he wanted to sign Beckham that people around the country sat up and laughed at their radios?? What sounds like more of a car crash, the guy promising champions league football, David Beckham and a new stand, or the business promising to invest around £5/10m a season..........

If you have any genuine information then lets have it. Im talking about inside information, contacts, people within the club voicing their concerns, not just idle speculation you found in the Daily Mail. Because otherwise I cannot see how you can have greater concerns over this takeover then Syed Ali's attempt.

I think common sense dictates that Venky's will want Rovers to succeed as a football club on the pitch. I cant believe any potential owner would want Rovers to fail. Unless you think otherwise....

Not agreeing or disagreeing with the rest of your post but if we're going to talk about being laughed at. I've had far more ribbing, chicken jokes during this takeover. We were even having the p*** taken out of us on Soccer Saturday.

And Burnley fans haven't even started with their wind ups yet :glare:

Course this will change if it works out on the pitch and we have the last laugh.

Probably, but not necessarily. With any buyer there is a risk of asset stripping. However, this isn't what you said. You said they want us to succeed as much as we do. Which is up for debate. It's their money, but it's our heart and soul. And where our definition of succeed is to survive financially and achieve success on the pitch, theirs potentially and probably is to make a profit first, success on the pitch only being considered in terms of how it makes that happen. They will have different profits, and different emphasis to the fans. Our on field success comes into their agenda, but less than it does for the fans. That was all I meant.

I agree, they want us to succeed to, presumably, broaden their marketting value and make a financial gain, we want to succeed in order to remain a premier league club. Iam not denying that the reasons behind wanting success may be slightly different from ourselves and the potential owners but they're still genuine and is a reality with any modern foreign owner of a football club these days.

I still maintain that the credibility of many of the arguments made against Venky's is far weaker then anything against Syed Ali which was the original point I was trying to make.

People are forgetting that there is no choice, Rovers have to be takenover. The Trust cannot and do not want to put any money into the club. Therefore the end result would be relegation. John Williams has already said that if that happened, Rovers would not survive.

Therefore the club has to be sold. To the Venky's or somebody else. Syed has pulled out. That leaves ONLY TWO interested parties to by the club, Shah and Venky's.

NOBODY on here knows enough of what has been said behind the closed doors at Rovers, neither have they seen what is on the table - it is all speculation by all on here.

But it looks like Rovers have a choice of having no transfer budget, no one putting money into the club, having to sell the best players to pay the debts, relegation and out of business.

Or taking a chance of survival with the Venky's / Kentaro.

Dont be stupid, we cant be taken over because the representatives from Venky's werent sat directly next to Sam/JW at Ewood during the Chelsea match and somebody, somewhere at some time mentioned a loan which was found to be innaccurate information.

You're in danger of injecting some common sense into this thread.

We're still not sold I see.

Surprised at that one.

Just checked - only to clear up the confusion over the dates...

The deal is expected to be done in a couple of weeks, but nobody sees any problems with that.

Got to say the VH people did say they hoped to complete in ten days which is round about now.

However no-one seems concerned and all involved regard it is a cert to go through.

It's probably down to lawyers doing what they do and earning their cut...can't see any other snags or hold-ups...

But no doubt there will still be a cluckfest for the next fortnight or so until it is all done, which frankly we could all do without.

Good God, another 2 weeks of this. Im glad i took a few days off from here. There is bound to be some problem, its never easy going with us.

It would have been nice, if the deal could have been completed this week. It would have given the whole club a boost ahead of the Wigan game.

Still be completed quicker than compared with Luca Toni's arrival. ;)

Thanks for the update Nicko. Have VH people decide whether John Williams and Big Sam will stay at the club in the current positions???
