[Archived] Rovers Takeover: End game ?

Today I will be at Ewood, the same ground I have been going to as a season ticket holder for the last 35 years. Will the world have ended by 5 o'clock, no.

I may be a bit more happy if we have won and downbeat if we have lost but I will come back as usual to the next home game.

The same view applies to new ownership, whatever happens I got my football team many years ago and its a complete and total addiction so I'm afraid no matter who the owners are I will still be here.

Am I concerned about the future, yes, a little fearful, yes, terrified and wanting to stay where we are, no. This club has to continue to change in the same way that the players of yesteryear fade into the memories and new players don the famous halves. The VH group are likely to be our next owners, they won't be there forever, nothing is permanent. However it is in their best interest not to ruin Rovers, even the greatest conspiracy believers wouldn't say it was.

So cautiously optimistic, very hopeful about the Trust doing their best for Jack's legacy, but always, always Blue and White come hell or high water. So let's not be naive, change will happen for most things at Ewood, only our loyalty to the club remains constant.

Very good post. You echo the attitude that every Rovers supporter should have in my opinion.

Rovers till I die, no matter what.

Some positively zen like postings so let me try and capture the groove. We are certainly about to take the road less travelled. The first new owners since the visionary Jack. The first Indian owners of a premier league club. Maybe the first club to be a factory farm for young players no pun intended (well maybe a little bit).

Popular opinion would say too risky, they don't know Football, they will destroy our heritage and flog our silver, remote management, different cultural styles and maybe even values or ethics in terms of running a club. But popular thinking always favors the status quo, can't be done, don't change what's not broken, leave well enough alone. Unpopular thinking is never valued, never recognized or appreciated but it is the only approach that recognizes that history is not destiny, and is the only thinking that changes the world.

I have changed my position from even last week. Watching the Chelsea game made me realize that we have the potential but we need the funds and the commitment. Yes this deal has the potential for us to go base over apex but it is an interesting deal. I do see the potential of us becoming the club of choice for a sub continent starved of football simply because we are first. As long as the new owners are good listeners, imaginative marketers, and tap into the heritage of the club and not leverage it to the hilt then I for one am prepared to believe that the secret to success is to know something nobody else knows and they certainly know their region and its potential. "Pluck" us from below mid table obscurity please Venkys.

Well done to some of the realistic posts that are above this, nice to see a bit of honesty, hope, loyalty and concern on here rather than the "We're all doomed" or "It's the best thing since sliced bread" end of the pendulum dwellers that frequent the board and not the ground itself.

I'm currently more positive than negative, I do like the noises being made and the prospective owners trying to both give some optimism whilst trying to manage expectations, which in itself, is tricky / nigh on impossible.

Their maths look solid enough, if they can tap that Asian market, even something of a precentage point, then it is a very big number, and it's revenue, which is what we need, as we can't get 70,000 into the ground all paying stupid prices.

I watched an article on the BBC North West on the matter, they were interviewing some famous Indian Sports Journalist in India who spoke very sensibly about Venky's and their plans, overall he was very optimistic about why they wanted to do, but also the mutual benefits, including the fact that he stated that if we were to tour their we would defintely pull in crowds of 60 - 70,000, in his words "Easily", the upside for them is propelling their image and brand to the higher echelon's, I think this is a sensible trade off, as long as the mutual respect remains.

If they can stabilise and grow us, organically, and be Innovative (Also required) then the future is bright, and certainly better than it is under the Trust's management, which appears to be well and truly over, I do trust our CEO and The Trust to do the right thing by us.

Change is inevitable, so bring it on, it will never change who I support.

COYB's.

Thanks for the kind words.

This post is going to invite a ton of abuse but so what.

I have heard things from a very reliable source that I cannot disclose any more about which greatly hearten me about the VH takeover.

The litmus test will be whether John Williams remains as Chairman.

No, it's his usual "let me make everyone think I know something from inside as an excuse to change my mind for the umpteenth time."

You won't get a ton of abuse from me for this post. However it's not just up to the new owners whether John Williams stays. I sincerely hope he does but I think he deserves to be involved in the decision. It may be that he has other things in his life as well as the Rovers.

Whetever the outcome he will get my personal vote of thanks.

I have to say after today's vital win I feel slightly better about our future. Chaddy was it the same chaps as last week at the game today? & did you actually see them there today?. On another topic Nicko will there be any news in tommorrow's People about us or is it all quiet on the Western front!.

Nicko will there be any news in tommorrow's People about us or is it all quiet on the Western front!.

There might be a small line on it...with a couple of pars thrown in at the end that will cause some screaming.

However - as most people outside Blackburn are tired of the subject - it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't used in the People.

If not I will do an update tomorrow.

The potential new owners were there today in the directors box. Also hope that John Williams stay on as Chairman and most of the board stay at the club.

Neither brother was present however, two people from their group were at the game today.

India: The Structure And System In Indian Football Must Become More Marketable For Corporates To Invest - Bhaichung Bhutia

With Venkateshwara Hatcheries expected to procure Blackburn Rovers in the coming weeks, it only highlighted the interest shown by the Indian corporates towards football. But for them to invest in the beautiful game in their very own country there has to be a renaissance of some sort which would make the sport worth investing.

Indian national team skipper Bhaichung Bhutia confirms the same and adds that the structure of football has to undergo a massive change to expect the Indian business houses to even think of putting in their bucks.

“I think that the Venky’s- Blackburn Rovers is a totally business deal. They are planning to invest solely from the business perspective.
