The litmus test will be whether John Williams remains as Chairman.

I'm going to get a ton of abuse for this post but that won't be a litmus test for me. John Williams comes across as a reasonable and competent administrator but he isn't the Messiah either. One day he will retire, maybe very soon and someone will replace him. Will the earth still circulate around the sun?

What I object to is John Williams being used as the yardstick by which we judge the takeover. Completely naive and mischievous in my view. Every new owner will bring his/her own style to any new enterprise and, lets face it, if you've put up 46M of your own money you are completely entitled to.

Met John today as part of the London supporters club, got the feeling the man will retire if new mob Take over,

Me too

But nothing so far suggests it has anything to do with the new group....Just probably time to retire & concentrate on family life & enjoying his time....he has been a great servant to us. If I was him then id take the £250k pay off he will be entitled to.

I would prefer it if Williams was kept as chairman as he has done an outstanding job. However it would not be a shock if he were to leave, its quite usual for a new owner of a business to want their own people in place. The real litmus test will actually be who they appoint and if they have required experience and skills to drive us foward.

I've heard on good authority that JW has been looking to retire for a while now and will do so when the sale is complete. Big Sam has to make an impact with the new owners or they'll be looking elsewhere.

Was at the game today in the Darwen end right by the Riverside. There were a few chants with a lot of feeling of "you can stick your F*****g chickens up your ar*e". Quite a suprise to me. I didnt think there would be so much angry sentiment aimed at Venkys.

Well the people around me accept the need for a takeover, think the lack of investment in the team over the last 3 years has concentrated minds on Ewood.

Wife?

nothing at all was mentioned on TV about her.

I suppose she could have been Mrs Allardyce, but she's never been shown on TV before, just made me think with all the new faces around Ewood if she was from some external organisation maybe?

It's usually the peformance/fitness coach sitting next to Sam - is this mystery woman part of the back room staff????

Maybe I should just stop thinking about all these trivialities...!

It was about 10/15 young lads singing hor about 340 secs. Wouldnt exactly class it as a revolt

The poverty of yesterday's performance underlined for me the urgent need for a deal to go through. Whether or not this is a good deal remains to be seen but it really does look as though we have no option. The problem as I see it is the squad needs a massive overhaul and from what we have been told Venky's do not have the cash, or perhaps the will, to do this. £5m in January will go nowhere, we need at least £25 - 30m to sort out the current squad, and it should not be done in January. The manager needs to be spending in January with an eye to how he would like to rebuild the squad, the problem with this is it's not clear who the manager will be in 6 months time.

I agree with most of your post but I don't think this part is right. Mrs Desai said in her interview the 5M was an initial figure, and that they'd give much more money to us if need be. Some posters on here have suggested Venky's in not worth much as a company, but others have suggested they're worth quite a bit. Their valuation is all speculation, really, but it doesn't seem right based on the current evidence to suggest Venky's don't have the money or will to invest in us.

Just occurred to me this morning - what is the POINT of the takeover?

From the supporters' perspective it is to provide a new source of financial backing and to increase the potential for the club to stay in the top flight. (other views are possible too)

From the Trust perspective it seems to be to cut their losses and to sever the connection to the club.

From the VH perspective... ? What really does the VH group achieve by acquiring Rovers, bearing in mind the primary purpose of any commercial enterprise is to make money?

Nothing I've read on here since the Venkys approach was made public really convinces me that we have been told what the real motivation is. But until we know for certain, it is difficult to know how to react to the possibility.

I don't know their motivation but they looked quite angry. I suspect it was a race issue.

I'm not sure they would be happier with the trust drowning us down the leagues however:s
