It's something they should do when they have bought the club.

What communications are there between the Trustees and the fans, by the way?

We are talking about completely new owners, new faces with new ideas(either good or bad).I'm sure Jack Walker communicated with the fans before he took over to stem any fears...lets hope to christ this lot do the same.

Is it asking too much?

Very early days, and too early to tell, but Liverpool's new owners, so far, seem to be coming out with correct/positive soundbites. Also they've had meetings with supporters groups and said they are willing to listen to fans to see how they can improve the club.

I hope, as has been stated by others, that Venky's keep a sensible line of communication open. Apart from their initial (awful) PR comments/statements, I think it's a good thing they have kept their counsel for now until the deal is formally completed. They have suggested they will say more when it is all finalised so we just need to be patient waiting for that.

In terms of changes, we need to accept that once they own the club they can do as they wish whether we like it or not. Most of the football takeovers which has taken place have seen a number of managerial/board changes and I would surprised if we were to see different. My main worry is too many changes too soon which could have a destabilising effect - especially if poor decisions are made due to bad judgement.

Any communication would be progress.

To be honest, Jack Walker was never a communicator...different era...never had to bother.

I don't think owners have to 'reach out' to fans - just give them good football to watch. But if they want to keep the punters posted it would not be a bad thing.

Mike Ashley tried to be "One of the lads" at Newcastle and it was a disaster for him. We must hear from the owners but they don't have to tell us every detail just the odd word about where they intend to take the club would be nice. Keep finances out of it or any player we go for will cost 5 million more.

True - as long as we are run in a professional manner.

Just like the other two did you mean? I can appreciate what you mean, but talk is cheap. The real proof of the pudding will be in the eating in January.

I did say very early days....

I agree and have said that all along, actions will speak louder than words - most owners have come in to clubs and talked bulls*8t from the outset.

However, none of us have a crystal ball but some fans will naturally feel more comfortable with new onwnership once they have heard more detail in relation to the plans moving forward.

That link now makes for particularly sad and bitter reading now.

"That is not the case. There are other businesses apart from the club which generate profits which are available. "

Maybe with the club in the 2nd div and no massive recession in sight he could say that with some conviction. Unfortunately we've seen times change.

The Walker family have carried the club for 20 years now so it's no time for bitterness or resentment.

Good riddance.

Dont let the door hit your arses on the way out you *****.

Pathetic. That is a level of ingratitude that I did not ever imagine would be seen on here. That is the sentiment of a hateful and spiteful individual. You need to learn some respect.

Jack carried us, the Trust initially did so until even the 3 million subsidy stopped.

The last 3 years they have hung us out to dry, I believe it was a high risk approach to take for an asset that is for sale and massively reliant on PL status for its value.

They don't have my eternal gratitude.

Can't rem but I doubt it. JW might have said a few words after the deal was done but publicity never seemed something that he was keen on imo. Most of his business was quite rightly kept behind closed doors.

The hate stuff against the Trust reflects awfully on the deluded ignorant people writing it.

On a more positive note, here is an excellent Economist article on how dramatically India has transformed into a global powerhouse in the last two decades.

Getting an Indian owner could be a fabulous step forwards for Rovers. I just hope we have got the right one.

Those old enough to remember with memories that are clear and not selective will remember from the outset Jack Walker frequently stating that BRFC was a business, was to be run on business lines and ultimately had to stand on it's own feet and be self financing. His enthusiasm of course ensured that he didn't heed his own directive and 10 years on from his death his generosity has now led to resentment and ingratitude from a generation of spoilt fans. I've said before that it would do some people good if the club were relegated through the divisions and I see no need to alter my opinion

Theno talking about respect.

Priceless.

I take it that you are in agreement with DGS.

It does indeed Philip. Whilst it irks me it doesn't suprise me.

btw I think the wind may be changing direction again.

I doubt that the trust deed had a clause that said something along the lines of "but if you decide that you don't want to put any more money into the football club, then feel free to withdraw funding for as long as it takes to find a buyer"?

I know where you're coming from Theno, but you make it sound as though the family have been paying out of their own pocket - but they haven't. If JW had wanted the family to bequeth all of his money, he would have left it all to them. I know that sounds harsh, but isn't it the truth?

When Jack said such things in the 90s he had no idea that football would transform itself like it has in the last 8 years or so. As well as his backing, we were bringing in decent revenues at that time- such a situation of self sufficency was foreseeable.

John Williams is on record saying Jack would just not have it that a player would soon be on 50 grand a week.

Would a proud and competitive Jack of today have just let us slide into mediocrity as we tried to 'wash our own face'?

Most likely. Jack was a multi millionaire and thats simply not enough now. He truly would have to be "an idiot with a death wish' as Alan Sugar once ungraciously described him to carry on and blow a fortune like Mike Ashley has done with 200m of his own money frittered away on the mags.

Prem football is obscene. Guaranteed income by being in the Prem (regardless of wealthy backers) is approx 1 million pounds per week. The fact that thats not enough now illustrates just how sick the sport is.

Trevor Hemmings has more money and he owns PNE but he wont put much in cos he dislikes football and especially dislikes footballers and their agents.

He doesn't like football yet has put over £13m in a football club......

Anyone heard when the deal will finally be finalised? It is getting a bit dull.

The next 2 to 3 weeks is what Paul Plunkett of the LET said on twitter today. Rovers and JW always said by the end of November that the club would be sold by.
