grizfoot Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Most people would agree that Mame Diouf and Roberts didn't particuarly have brilliant games against Wigan so in some ways it makes perfect sense the replace them. Diouf-Mk1 is obviously not fully fit so that's why he doesn't start. Interesting the seemingly frozen out Hoilett, Kalinic and Chimbonda return though. 3-5-2 would be interesting as a way to try and combat Newcastle's front two but we could also easily play 4-5-1 with our usual back four and central midfield with Niko up top on his own with Chimbonda and Hoilett operating wide.

1864roverite Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Has anyone considered they may just employ one of the defenders to simply man mark Carroll out of the game ? Take him out and you nullify Uniteds attacking prowess. Rovers playing for a point tonight and for me I would take it now.
Mattyblue Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Three centre halves (5-3-2) according to Radio Lancs. Prepare for fireworks on this thread...
grizfoot Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Three centre halves (5-3-2) according to Radio Lancs. Prepare for fireworks on this thread... It makes perfect sense against 4-4-2 when you think about it Samba and Givet can match up man-to-man on Carrol and Ameobi whilst we'll still have a spare centreback to cover. (Nelsen was superb in this role for NZ at the world cup). Whilst we also have two upfront although I'm guessing Hoilett may operate just behind Kalinic if they both play central.
LeChuck Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Wow, bizarre lineup! Um, could even be:- ---------------------Robinson ---------Nelsen----Samba-----Givet Salgado------------------------------Chimbonda -------------Emerton--------Jones ----------------------Pedersen -------------Kalinic----------Hoilett Although that's probably too attacking. I would say Exiled Rover's lineup is correct, perhaps with Chimbonda and Salgado swapped round. That was my first guess, although I think Hoilett will deeper than Kalinic.
Steve Moss Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Fox Soccer TV calls it a 5-1-3-1 formation.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 1-0 Pedersen. Newcastle trying to be too clever and caught in possession, decent finish.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Get in! 2 in 2 games for him now. Excellent start.
Presty On Tour Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Rolling back the years Pedders! Get in!
LeChuck Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Brilliant! Unfortunately I haven't found a way of watching it yet!
jim mk2 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Where's Ribble Valley Rover to celebrate the Pedersen goal ?
BRFC1995 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Brilliant! Unfortunately I haven't found a way of watching it yet! exceptionally frustrating 1st decent batch of midweek fixtures, rovers winning and everywhere i would normally watch seems shut down right on 7:45, damn suspicious..aarrrggg
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Where's Ribble Valley Rover to celebrate the Pedersen goal ? Check the previous page Jim: 1-0 Pedersen. Newcastle trying to be too clever and caught in possession, decent finish.
beerwins Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 just home...how did we score?? Pederson free kick, defender messing around getting it out, Pederson's momentum carried him forward took ball of him and drove it low across goal with right foot.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Pederson free kick, defender messing around getting it out, Pederson's momentum carried him forward took ball of him and drove it low across goal with right foot. From the BBC Chat: Blackburn goal: Terrible from Cheik Tiote in the Newcastle area, the midfielder getting caught unnecessarily on the ball allowing Morten Gamst Pedersen to take a touch and slam low into the far corner.
LeChuck Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Wolves and Wigan losing already as well. Could be a good night.
BuckyRover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 We now just need to sit back and defend this lead for 75 minutes.....
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 We now just need to sit back and defend this lead for 75 minutes..... Easy peasy. Newcastle defence all over the place, really need to take opportunity of this good start and get another goal before they start to click.
beerwins Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Newcastle look shaky at the back, Pederson could have had another there if not for a deflection, Rovers not sitting back at all at the moment.
