Exiled_Rover Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Much better in the second half, it's a shame we lost the game in the first. I think today shows that we need to use that 5-4-1 formation carefully, 4-2-3-1 has been immeasurably better today since we changed to it. Let's not take today out of context though, if someone had offered us 6 points from 9 prior to Wigan, we would have bitten their hands off. It works against teams that don't have two very good play makers in their midfield. Newcastle didn't have the quality to break us down. Spuds obviously do.

den Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 ...and if they pick you apart then there's nothing you can do. I didn't expect us to win this, but that doesn't mean that we should be totally useless. Let's not forget that this is a Spurs side that drew midweek and lost last weekend (against two sides that may well finish in the bottom half). If you want to compete then you have to hold onto the ball a bit. If you give a midfield of that qualify 80% of the ball then they will beat you, and that's what it was with about 30 minutes gone. No question about it. If you're saying that this Spurs side are SO good that we can't hope to have more than 20-30% of the ball then let's just pack it in and try and re-enter the league at a more suitable level. I've seen Bolton outplay them, watched Villa outplay United in the second half today and numerous other surprising results in recent weeks...the key to all of them has been keeping a decent amount of possession even when you are spending large parts of the game defending. Tackle and hoof will never win it. Never. You just hate Allardyce Eddie. We're 3 down but have been playing some good football on the break and on the floor..
Exiled_Rover Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Is it just me or has Givet been really poor this season? It's just you.
Hughesy Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Really looked like we were going to get back into it before Givets mistake!! FFS!
Exiled_Rover Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Givet is a damn liability when he is off his game and going forward he is dog guff. That's because he's a centre back playing left back. Vidic would look pretty bad flying up the left wing too.
LeChuck Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 That's because he's a centre back playing left back. Vidic would look pretty bad flying up the left wing too. He's looked even worse when we have played him at centre back. He's far too small and always has these errors in him. Nelsen, Samba and Jones are better centre backs than he is. I bet Hanley isn't far off. Anyway, didn't he play for France at left back? The Vidic comparison is totally unfair, Givet has played at left back for other clubs. Wes Brown is a better example from Utd.
Hughesy Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 4-0...rub of the green for spurs...bad day at the office for us....to be honest as expected. Still gutted!
Rover Down Under Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Jesus wept, bleedin' handball by Van der Fart before Bale scored! Totally undeserved. STFU Spuds fans you tw@s!
Nelsta Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 If Samba's was handball then surley that goal was a handball, The ball bounced off van der vaarts hand!
Amo Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 He's looked even worse when we have played him at centre back. He's far too small and always has these errors in him. Far too small? He's taller than Puyol and Cannavaro.
beerwins Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 If we had put away one of those chances we had it would'nt have been so embarrasing, I hope the new owners are watching carefully and rethinking there 5 million budget in Jan.
Pinch Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Jesus wept, bleedin' handball by Van der Fart before Bale scored! Totally undeserved. STFU Spuds fans you tw@s! Farcical penatly, undeserved yellow for Samba, and a blatant handball assist...ridiculous.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Name a side in the league that definitely has a worse midfield than us? West Ham have a better one even Wolves probably have a better one.
philipl Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Ref is having a bad one. All against us of course.
