Rover Down Under Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Woo 4-2, Givet, I think! C'mon lads five minutes injury time...more goals please!
LeChuck Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 ROfl pantomine villain strikes That brings his total to -1 as he cost us 2 goals.
imy9 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 EIT- the first 11 of Spurs cost about 75 million, it is a top class side out there. Bale, mod, crouch, pav etc
tony gale's mic Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 No Keane, no King, no Defoe, no Lennon, no Huddlestone, no Palacios etc, etc. They were there for the taking. As for the rest - it's ok, I know I'm right. Look at who they have got rather than who they haven't got. There's plenty of quality players in there.
Messi422 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Givet 1 goal and 1 assist, he showed his talents up front.
Hughesy Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 4-2 final score 12-8 attempts on target....2 off the line, and a dodgy 4th goal for spurs.. A loss was kind of expected by most, at least we didnt give up. Tough away game for us, why are we so poor away in London?? Have been for years!
Nelsta Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 It's over.4-2 Could've been alot worse if spurs would've finished there chances. But could've been better if the ref would have given the free kick for Van der vaarts handball for there 4th and we'd have put the 2 chances away that were cleared off the line. Ohh well...next!
daveoftherovers Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 4-2 is a lot more respectable than it could have been, as usual though, we've been on the wrong end of a few decisions and the comparison in quality was evident in the end. Gutted, but it's about how react to this again, consolation was that we didn't fold, under Hughes that would have ended up being 6 nowt
brian_gallagher85 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Game too far today after the last two wins. Unlucky with the two off the line and on another day we could maybe have had a point. Spurs where the better side, but we definitely deserved those two late goals. Hoillet is getting forward nicely and with games will only get better. A lot more positives to take from today than negatives.
Rover Down Under Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 This ref is a total douche, he did his best to get in Samba's way there, Samba was unsighted, played a poor pass Bale picks it up and looks like his hat trick is on till the more promising youngster on the pitch nicks it off hist feet with a great last ditch tackle. It's been 12 v 11 all game, a non-penalty, handball goal. Well played in 2nd half lads - that's three games on the run we've scored 2 and that's with 2 away games.

A loss was kind of expected by most, at least we didnt give up. Tough away game for us, why are we so poor away in London?? Have been for years! Hughesy once again trying to put a positive spin on a truly dreadful performance. Those that come home tonight and check the scoreline and see it being 4-2 will think that Rovers put in a good performance and made Spurs work hard for the win but that was just not the case. The 4-2 scoreline flattered us; Spurs should have been at least 4-0 in the first half. They had almost 80% possession for large parts of the game and had 12 attempts on goal and 12 corners. 4-2 may have been the scoreline but we were absolutely outplayed and deservedly lost. They could have easily got to double figures.

A loss was kind of expected by most, at least we didnt give up. Tough away game for us, why are we so poor away in London?? Have been for years! Attacking was fine today. We scored two, had two off the line, had another few clear cut changes (Kalinic, Diouf). Defending was woeful though. We need a presence in midfield, I'm disappointed Goulon never played. Was Sam too chicken to play him...
brian_gallagher85 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Yep, Mariner was a complete dick today, he just couldn't wait to book Samba for his "handball" yet let VDV set up a goal with his. At least the heads didn't go down and our goal difference didn't take a huge undeserved battering! Hughesy once again trying to put a positive spin on a truly dreadful performance. The 4-2 scoreline flattered us; Spurs should have been at least 4-0 in the first half. They had almost 80% possession for large parts of the game and had over 15 attempts on goal. 4-2 may have been the scoreline but we were absolutely outplayed and deservedly lost. They could have easily got very close to double figures. Simply not true at all, our defending was suspect today at times, but we deserved the two goals we had and possibly more.

Have been for years! all that was missing today was our defence , i thought they played quite well, we played football , not long ball, is the tide changeing ? /
Backroom Tom Posted November 13, 2010 Backroom Posted November 13, 2010 Ah well 4-2 isn't too bad, most would have expected us to lose 2-0 at least. Hoilett sounds like he had another good game, glad he is coming on finally. We got done by the form player in the league and his world class mate today, no shame in that.

MarkBRFC71 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Tactical naivety cost us in the first half. We started with a gameplan, tactics and system designed to combat Newcastle and Andy Carroll/Shola Ameobi's aerial threat. No concession was made for Gareth Bale and his pace, and Salgado should not have started because, as predicted, he was getting ripped at will by Bale. It was the same mentality as me wearing the same pair of undercrackers cos we'd won the last time I wore them - it seemed like Sam kept the same system purely because we'd won the last time we tried it. Credit to him for changing fairly early on, and we did come back into the game in the second, but that could just be because Spurs took their foot off the gas at 4-0 up. Sounded like we had a fair few chances, which kind of makes the errors in the gamplan in the first even more galling. Oh well, didn't expect to get anything today anyway.
RIML Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 I feel quite proud, ok we lost but Spurs still tried to waste time towards the end, we get one goal back and they panicked. I'm disappointed with the goals we conceded, Givet gifted them a couple of goals, we conceded from a set-piece again but one goal was hand ball. We had shots cleared off the line too, so we were unlucky not to have scored more. Saying that Spurs should have probably scored more than 4. Is this the first time under Harry Redknapp Spurs have conceded more than one goal at home in the league? Oh and Ryan Nelsen scoring for Rovers will always make me happy.
DP Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 No rub of the green today at all although individual mistakes costing us big time and I will question Sam's decision to stick to the same team and tactics which were clearly chosen to stifle Newcastle, not Spurs. Still, lots of positives to take forward as we had plenty of chances and some of our players are starting to show that they're not as talentless as some boardmembers think they are.
bluefred Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 drivel. get a grip fair do-s we got out footballed out of it today. but we kept going and got two goals back. it shows to me at least they have pride in the shirt and i can not condone them for that.
