Forget the past is really your argument?so we were not the tenth best team in the league last year under Sam?

How do you achieve what Sam has done without the qualities you say he cannot instill in his team?

You do realise that had we won today we would have overtaken The great Coyle?

Thaank God there wasn't anything riding on that game.

Saw the last thirty minutes and wasn't surprised at the total lack of finesse. Easy on the eye we are not.

Givet appears to havecompletely lost the plot and needs dropping, as does Nelsen. Samba made an elementary mistake of dumping himelf on his back-end when he should've stood up to the defender. The midfield looks as uninspiring as ever and the less said about teh strikers the better.

Clearly we need to replace a lot of players who are either past-it or are never-has-been's. I was surprised to see that we've been linked with a left winger for £7m when so much re-building needs to be done and we already have one left-winger on a fat contract.

What we all want to know is how much money will be released for players and will Venky's trust Allardyce to spend it effectively. Signing three right-backs was one thing, but blowing an enormous wad on N'zogbia ... I can't see the logic.

Yeah, I don't think there was any 'star player' in Rovers ranks today. Olsson looked our best bet and Emerton was busy in midfield, but the rest were average to downright poor (Givet, Nelsen, Pedersen, Jones). Roberts wasn't great but didn't get any service, tbh.

Not sure I understand where the praise for Olsson is coming from... yes he got forward and looked pacey, but when did he ever actually create anything decent? All I remember is his crosses going straight into the arms of Jaaskelainen. The one time he did break into the box he dived.

He has potential, no question of that, but I didn't think today was one of his better games. A lot of huffing and puffing with no end product at all.

The difference today was Owen Coyle IMO.

Explain to me what Owen Coyle did that was so great? His side was dominated from start to finish. For the first goal, Kevin Davies gets on the end of a set piece and flicks it on to Muamba who shows some skill to get himself some space and score. Second goal, Davies gets on the end of a long ball to flick it down to the oncoming Holden who also gets himself some space and blasts it past Robinson. I'll also remind you that Kevin Davies cleared Samba's goal bound header off the line.

Coyle's team was constantly exposed, but our execution was seriously lacking to punish them.

Wow, what's Coyles highest finish in the pl? Sam has been shown to be pound for pound spending one of the best managers in the league, can you explain how you can finish so high up in the pl consistently without the qualities you say Sam does not possess, I am all ears.

To be fair to Coyle he has only been at Bolton since last Christmas and in that space of time he's made a far greater impact than Sam has in his two years at Ewood.

Won? ;)

Kept his team on the front foot, pushing forward, and looking for the win instead of trying to play for the 0-0. Fortune favours the brave ....

The difference today was Big Sam IMO.

When we won last year, Neil McDonald was in charge.

We battered them and had 5 up front at one point. It was just one of those days that nothing goes your way, on another day we would have had at least 2 of the 3 penalty shouts and scored some of our good chances.

Until you grow up, and stop being such an arrogant old tosser, please just go away.

Insults. Is that the best you can do ?

Every time Rovers concede a goal or lose a match, you call for the manager to be sacked or leave the club.

Now that's what I call childish. And pathetic.

One other point, for me Hoilett has to start the next game, he wasn't on for long enough today but ran at people and got a couple of good tackles in as well.

Something is wrong if he can't get a game.

I just remembered why I used to have you ignore. To prevent myself from wasting time reading and replying to ludicrous statements like this.

I'd love for you to explain how a manager keeps his team "on the front foot". If you actually believe that Bolton were pushing forward and attacking us more than we were attacking them then, well... no comment.

No, I call for him to go all the time - I'm very consistent in that respect. He did a good job in keeping us up, but I don't like the man (he's nearly as arrogant as you), I don't like his style of football, and I would welcome a change - and crucially I think the right appointment would move us forward. I honestly think he's taken us as far as he can, and investment in Allardyce would not significantly improve us. Better to ensure we've got the right man at the top before throwing money at him.

Now just because you don't agree with me doesn't make you any more or less right than me, does it? Insulting people for not sharing your exact worldview (be it football or politics) - which is something you do almost every time you post - is what I would call childish and pathetic.

Ok Lets be honest, we need about 30 million to replace this shower.

Jones & Hanley at the back against the Hammers, give the older ones a kick u t'arse

What frustrates me is that Hoilett was just starting to get a run of starts and then Sam inexplicably drops him. The lack of pace in our side cannot be underestimated.

I can't work it out either he got a lot of praise against Newcastle and continued to play well then is randomly dropped.

Next weeks lineup should be interesting surely there should be no Dunn or Diouf

Their tactics were superior? Please explain.

Well they won.

When they went down to ten men they played long ball counter attack football, we played that from the start.

If we had gone down to ten men would we have tried to get a win or tried to contain and sit on a draw, sometimes you have to go for the win to actualy win.

And now I remember why I used to have you on ignore. Because you clearly know absolutely nothing about football. I still laugh about the classic "playing the long ball is much harder than playing like Barcelona".

Coyle could have changed Elmander or Davies for Muamba, and defended but chose to keep two strikers on. I (and anyone who knows about football) would call that pretty positive under the circumstances. He could have stuck Davies up on his own, had two solid, rigid banks of 4 behind him but kept a fairly fluid, positive system - again, under the circumstances I would call that pretty positive.

Now imagine that Sam was in charge of Bolton. Elmander would have been off, Davies would have been up front 50 yards from his teammates, and would have had to deal with the odd defensive clearance that fell in his direction. The midfield would not have crossed the halfway line unless Davies won a freekick.

Sam did go 4-4-2 which was positive from our perspective, but he thought that Coyle would react as he would have and was simply outfoxed IMO.

5 shots on target each when all's said and done. However, we lost 2-1 .... that's the only stat that matters.
