FSF Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 The Football Supporters' Federation are conducting a quick straw-poll of fans up and down the country. There's only two questions, and it will only take a minute to fill in. We'd be much obliged if you could. Just follow the link below http://tinyurl.com/3ad6lau For your troubles, everyone who fills it in gets entered into a free draw to win a copy of Football Manager 2011, just because we're that nice. Cheers, FSF

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 19, 2010 Moderation Lead Posted November 19, 2010 I certainly do. Since the £100k p/w barrier was broken, the floodgates opened and things have gotten a bit silly. Man City's shocking over-paying/over-spending has left other clubs trailing in their wake. Now you've got average players earning superstar wages with inflated egos. And as for the Rooney situation........
riverside returns Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 All players should be paid a basic wage of say 2k per week adn get bonuses based on performance.

Stuart Ripley Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Without a doubt! It will keep the money grabbing foreigners, who keep young english players on the bench, at home. It will also reconnect the fans with the players

OscarRaven Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Depends... FA imposed (england) or FIFA imposed (global)? Cap how flat cap? % turnover? Bonuses included? what about relocation expenses? I think in reality wage caps are unworkable and far more hassle than just letting market forces dictate... unfortunatley we are not talking about a sustainable market place due the silly speculation and vanity of the rich and not so famous. So forget wage caps, simply state clubs have to make money / break even on a 4yr rolling basis - much easier to enforce.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 19, 2010 Moderation Lead Posted November 19, 2010 If, indeed the financial fair play laws come in whereby clubs spend only what they generate and the proposed takeover happens and they plan to expand the club and market us in India and abroad- this could help us greatly. If we can only spend what we generate and we are in a similar position when (if) the financial laws come into play, then that wage bill needs to come down!
den Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Do you believe that footballers should take a wage cut given the current economic climate? What a daft question from the FSF. What's the point in asking that question? The FSF are a good supporters group, but I expected better than this poll.
BuckyRover Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I don't like the politics of spite. They are paid by private enterprises. I do support a wage cap but an arbitrary Premier League cap would result in all the top players leaving. A wage cut across the board is stupid. It would have to be a UEFA cap.
Stuart Ripley Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Money grabbing foreigners? Who are the top earners at Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool? foreigners set the precedent in this country, english high earners follow suit. How many crap players have come over here based on some scout's instinct and left within 24 months a flop? 'Exotic' players need a big wage to get them to live in certain parts of this country, they certainly don't come for the culture
BiggusLaddus Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 No. Absolute individual caps will always become out of date eventually. Total squad wage bill limits might make things more competitive, but for them to be high enough to allow top clubs to compete in Europe, they would already be too high to stop smaller clubs overspending.
rigger Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I think that the system used in certain american sports could be used. what they do is set a wage cap on each club. If a club wants to go over their cap they can, but they have to pay the same amount that they go over, to the FA. This money would be then distributed to all lower league clubs. Thus benefitting the lower leagues and still allowing anyone to invest in squads if they want
JAL Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 As a supporter think there should be a price cap on match tickets rather than a footballers wage cap. After all is it our business to stop somebody else from paying somebody else an extortionate amount, dont really think so.

Give me strength
chris Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I think should footballers should get a minimum of £5.93 an hour. Any less then that would be very unfair.
