thenodrog Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I actually got kicked out for protesting at stewards blocking my view for large periods, standing in front of me kicking people out for very little. Personally I'm amazed that as a student you could justify a trip which must have cost you at least £100! However... Those stewards sound very unreasonable. I'd suggest that if you are telling the truth and you spoke to the stewards in a quiet and controlled manner then you should make some form of complaint. I'd imagine it will all be on video.

thenodrog Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 FFS we've just been dicked by 7 (even at your tender age you can't have witnessed that very often , if at all) and you're putting a positive spin on it!!! The main problem today was not the formation or the personnel it was the fact we were 5 yards slower all over the pitch and looked totally unfit. For a manager whose attention to detail and preparation is, supposedly 2nd to none, this is hard to accept. I don't need to watch fancy tricks, raking passes, intricate play or total football but the absolute minimum that I expect is for the players that pull on the shirt to be as fit as they can be and motivated to play well. How bloody wrong can you be. Abysmal. I'd agree with that wholeheartedly. Any team wanting to punch over it's weight in the prem as we must continually do cannot afford to be lacking in physical (and mental) fitness. I commented as much just a fortnight ago after I'd read this....... http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/8638852.We_were_not_fit_enough__blasts_Allardyce/ Not goopd enough and rather worrying that a manager of his experience feels the need to admit that just 3 months into a season.
thenodrog Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Feel sick this morning. Old Trafford is the nearest ground to me - I can walk it in 20 minutes - but after many years of misery (2005 excepted) I stopped going. And in part because of the treatment of away fans. Now I know we have right berks following us, but the attitude of the staff stinks. 2005? Sherwoods equalising goal disallowed by Dodgy Durkin was about as miserable and cheated that I have ever felt when playing that lot. At least yesterday's debacle did not leave as nasty a taste in my mouth.

We were close to the front and when Man U scored their first goal, two people jumped up and openly celebrated in front of us. People tried to tell the stewards, but they didn't even have a word. Later I'd gone down to the loo, and the stewards were taking someone else out. They were pushing him around really bad - I don't think 6 people are necessary to get one small lad out - and the police were just stood watching doing nothing, whilst other stewards were stood about laughing. God I hate that place.

JAL Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 ###### happens so lets move on! One would think that everyone at Rovers cant wait for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers to come now.
DanLad Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 BTW I sat behind Ogil Ostenstad (sp?) in the OT away end when he was at the club. Norway produces some nice guys! He had a habit of being WAY offside, but that takes the biscuit, surely?

God I hate that place. That sort of behaviour by stewards really winds me up, Clare. The thing is, people have paid for their ticket and just because they are watching a game of football are still entitled to some form of customer service. I remember a young friend of ours being hauled out in a similar manner at Boro - I was furious as it certainly didn't need six of them! I think he should certainly put in a complaint and keep a copy of it, and send a copy of it to Newsham as well. They probably won't do anything, but at least the complaint will be recorded.
barry_ Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 'you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear!!' Maybe not, but desire, guts, determination and not giving up before you step on the pitch don't cost a penny. quite agree with you... something that no amount of money can buy. roll on next saturday now.

God I hate that place. I'm hardly small but that could have been me or my brother. They shoved my arm up my back and punched my hand when I had hold of the rail. Getting escorted out for calling a steward "sunshine" is more than unreasonable.
USABlue Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Easy for some to get over quickly get over it. I'm guessing you aren't going to have the #### taken out of you all day tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday,.... How right you are and that is a bonus, makes it easier to put it behind me but trust me, been there done that. Even dealt with losing to Burnley at work on Mondays (lived in Accy so you'll know there were plenty of em), not too many on here can say that you think?
FourLaneBlue Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 2005? Sherwoods equalising goal disallowed by Dodgy Durkin was about as miserable and cheated that I have ever felt when playing that lot. At least yesterday's debacle did not leave as nasty a taste in my mouth. If I remember right, Paul sodding Ince equalising in injury-time was the worst ever.
Rover Down Under Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'd agree with that wholeheartedly. Any team wanting to punch over it's weight in the prem as we must continually do cannot afford to be lacking in physical (and mental) fitness. I commented as much just a fortnight ago after I'd read this....... http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/8638852.We_were_not_fit_enough__blasts_Allardyce/ Quite. Even more embarassing is that Man U played midweek and still ran rings around us. Fitness has been a major issue for too long to the extent that I wrote to the club several times last year recommending a product I sell - that is taken by Bear Grylls and the entire German 2012 Olympic team, amongst others - that I really thought would benefit the team. Didn't receive any reply and when I approached Phil Batty (club doctor) when they were over here in July he basically told me to clumsy, hit shift + 8 again!! off. So much for Sam and his supposed alterantive approaches, use of dieticians, special training techniques etc. Whatever he's doing currently is a waste of time and money.
Jeru tha Damaja Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I stand to be corrected on this, but weren't we also the first team to start pre-season training this year? Clearly that was time well spent
RoversSG Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This is without doubt the most disappointing performance since i started watching Rovers 18 years ago but what saddens me is the lack of fight in the team. The manager sets the team out not to win not not to loss and the players all lack fighting spirit. I can't remember when was the last time we fought back from a deficit to win or even draw a game. This match was so embarrassing that the commentator was talking about about possible double-digit score in the 47th minute! I think samba tame header (just before his goal) was the 1st time VDS even touched the ball and that was in the last 10 minutes of the game! Even the games i played as a small kid against kids twice my age were more competitive! What we need is a manager who can motivate the players so that we're not 1-0 down even before we step on the pitch (especially for away games). Another capitulation like this and I hope Sam do the honorable thing and resign.
PAFELL Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 That sort of behaviour by stewards really winds me up, Clare. I think anybody who received any rough / unjust treatment from the stewards should complain to Rovers who may take it up with Utd. Though the latter may just say it is sour grapes for losing 7 1. If people do not complain it will just continue.
Majiball Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Quite. Even more embarassing is that Man U played midweek and still ran rings around us. mhead Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 As with all bad results....Shrewsbury and Barnsley away from 70s and 90s come to mind.....this defeat is worse for being just downright embarassing. It just gives a chance in this case for all the Man U 'tourists' to have a go based on their great football knowledge.Feel sorry for any fans from the Country areas of England and the growing number of India fans(engulfed by 'united' fans.My only text to sympathise was from a Man City fan. Sam does not have to put up with this.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 29, 2010 Moderation Lead Posted November 29, 2010 In my 26 years on this earth I've never seen Rovers play so badly. No fight, no passion, no commitment- none of the things that are usually so good about us as a unit. Not like I paid £42 for the privelege or anything...... I totally concur about the stewards btw- they really are awful towards away fans, I tried to have a word but they ushered me away and told me I'd be 'ejected with force' if I carried on- unbelievable!
Rover Down Under Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Whats the product??? It's right under this message (in the signature.) I'll put it in a pillow and mattress, then it might interest Sam.
alexanders Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Why wasnt Kalinic on the bench? Injured?
Gav Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 No fight, no passion, no commitment All down to the manager I'm afraid, although I don’t hold him solely responsible for Saturday to be honest.
