magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I have no time for Cameron politically but he did well. Like Blair, when it comes to public speaking, there arent many better.

Balwer Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I have no time for Cameron politically but he did well. Like Blair, when it comes to public speaking, there arent many better. Some politicians are just great orators, regardless of their political persuasion. Cameron is one, like Blair was, and Obama is one too. I used to think Clinton was, although his performance for the USA's bid was fairly lacklustre by his usual standards.
philipl Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Voting running late apparently according to the BBC
Mike Graham Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I don't want these corrupt scum (in my opinion Glenn ) from FIFA over here and dictating that they are allowed to cream off profits tax free, suspend employment legislation and dictate to our elected Government. The business case for investment and revenue returns is questionable, and at least one government (Netherlands) have openly rubbished it. Am I one of the few who are not bothered about the World Cup coming to Blighty?
brian_gallagher85 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The Irish are here to help if the England needs a hand with anything....hell if financially crippled Spain and Portugal can put in a bid then we might just do so for 2026 Heart says England, but head says Russia. It's been a long time/too long since you've had a world cup and with it having one of the best leagues in the world it should really be a no brainer. Best of luck Qatar have apparently won 2022.
philipl Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Izvestia has just announced Russia has it... The Mirror says Qatar has got 2022 and the BBC say the voting has finished.

rovgers Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 SSN reckon the delay is because of the vote going to a third round of votes. Don't know if thats a good or bad sign for Englands bid.
philipl Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Apparently members of the Executive Committee have been out of their voting room for 20 minutes now. Result within 10 minutes and England looking glum according to the BBC.
Bobby G Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Qatar and US in last round of voting according to inside sources. 3rd round of votes for 2018 has been completed I think.
philipl Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 England eliminated in the first round according to the Times.
Bobby G Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Voting round by round will be announced. Its not out of the question for everyone to know who has won cause some of the bid members are also on the FIFA exec committee. Breaking news: ENGLAND KNOCKED OUT IN FIRST ROUND OF VOTING according to Al Jazeera TV; Korea in first round; Japan in second round. If this is the case be sure that Villar spoke on behalf of the whole Executive Committee today, and that the media has cost England the WC most definitely. Dutch/Belgian bid lost in second round.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Looks like Panorama may have done the damage then if the Times and other media outlets are correct.
Bobby G Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 To go out in the first round to the BeNe bid would be humiliating to say the least.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Henry Winter's Twitter: Belief that England being punished for media, sources claim. 5 minutes ago via Twitter for iPad http://twitter.com/henrywinter
BuckyRover Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The BBC are going to find themselves in hot water
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The BBC are going to find themselves in hot water Nah, they will probably blame Cameron. This is the Beeb we are talking about here...
Oklahoma Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 It seems Russia won it, according to Spanish press.
Bobby G Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Inside source from England bid confirms they were out in first round and hence why they knew so early.
niggit Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 What a joke this is, we will never get it, it's not about who is the best to host it, it's about money.
bluebruce Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 No point blaming the media. All they did was point out corruption- which they should be doing. They have not behaved improperly, though perhaps naively. It is the corrupt pricks themselves who are at fault here.
Bobby G Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Russia Its the media no question about it. Your bid was good enough to at least make it past the first round of voting. If you cant see that, then Im sorry. That doesnt mean you were going to host it, but you can be sure that you had a better chance if the last couple of weeks didnt happen.
M-K Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Booo. Should have been Spain and Portugal. Who the hell wants to go to Russia?
Mike Graham Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The BBC are going to find themselves in hot water why? Don't blame the messenger, it is the FIFA organisation that needs to account for itself
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 No point blaming the media. All they did was point out corruption- which they should be doing. They have not behaved improperly, though perhaps naively. It is the corrupt pricks themselves who are at fault here. The timing was a deliberate attempt to derail the bid and they have succeeded.
