Bobby G Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Who gives 6 year contracts anyway these days? If they go on a 10 match losing streak will they retain him or pay a huge compensation? Stupidity at its best. Long live the Barcode Comedy Circus...
bluebruce Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I'm enjoying their suffering so much...is that wrong?
92er Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Who gives 6 year contracts anyway these days? If they go on a 10 match losing streak will they retain him or pay a huge compensation? Stupidity at its best. Long live the Barcode Comedy Circus... According to the Independent it's a comparatively low basic wage of £750,000 pa-but it still seems crazy to have given such a long one.
Amo Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I'm enjoying their suffering so much...is that wrong? Tbh, I'm still speechless. Hughton formed a bunch of misfits into a solid team, got them promoted with aplomb, recorded some cracking results this year in a wide-open league, and they boot him for it. Hiring Alan Pardew in lieu of Hughton makes a mockery of any 'footballing' rationale for his sacking. Just more jobs for the boys.
broadsword Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Apparently Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew used to visit the same casino. Even for Newcastle, this is complete madness. What are they like, firing Hughton was like finally scraping the pennies together for a nice suit to wear to an interview, and then cutting the a*** out of it. Completely insane.

They haven't cut the arse out though, Ashley is still there.
Alex Rover Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 On the flip side watching the goings-on at the Looney Toons from now until the end of the season is going to be highly entertaining and essential viewing
emerton Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 "I've had a lot of texts from managers saying 'you must be mad going there'," said Pardew, 49, on Thursday."But it's one of the top five clubs in England. It's a daunting prospect but something I couldn't turn down." You are mad Alan....
modes98 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 You are mad Alan.... Nope he is umemployed and not stupid enough to turn down a premiership job. If he does nothing then he hasn't damaged an already poor reputation (plus a big pay off), if he keeps them up or better then he improves it. Ashley is a moron!
Amo Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Pardew mispronouncing Hughton's name at the press conference. Not doing himself any favours.
rigger Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Walking down The Old Kent Road, To see the Blaydon races
Hughesy Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Shame on Ashley for doing it. To sack a manager who got you promoted and has done a decent job so far this season is pathetic....I could understand it abit more if they were down with Wolves & West Ham, but they have beat Arsenal away and hammered Villa & Sunderland! I hope they get what the deserve from all this - and that is relegation come May.
RoyRover Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 As Phil McNulty wrote on his blog, Newcastle have a self destruct button that they just can't help from pressing. It's a joke that Chris Haughton got fired. Where exactly did they think they would be in the league? Probably top, because they are a massive club, with great fans who deserve to win the league.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Unbelievable appointment really, Hughton certainly didn't deserve the sack but you could maybe have understood it if he'd been sacrificed to bring in someone like Hiddink. But Pardew??????????
Backroom DE. Posted December 9, 2010 Backroom Posted December 9, 2010 Bad news for Newcastle, good news for us Pardew
Radagast Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Ashley has obviously being hoping to get rid of Hughton for a long time. He only appointed him as he didn't want to sour any potential buyer's interest by handing out a big contract to someone they might not have wanted and Hughton's been defying him with results ever since he took them off the market. I feel sorry for the more level-headed among their supporters who must have been delighted at the club finally looking like it was on steady foundations. Appointing a turnip like Pardew is an even bigger kick in the mush, and offering contract of this length to the chairman's drinking buddy reeks of corruption.
roversmum Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 But Pardew?????????? Don't be like that, Rev, he's absolutely perfect for Newcastle hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
TAFKAP Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I agree, very bizarre decision. Also, I've never liked Pardew, hope he fails there.
Mr. E Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I'm enjoying their suffering so much...is that wrong? Laughing at Newcastle is wholesome entertainment.

deryck guyler's spoon Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Pardew used to get West Ham to do their pre match warm up in all white. Apparently this made them look bigger to the opposition and thus intimidate them. Hardly surprising then that he comes out with garbage like - "it's one of the top five clubs in England. At least he fits in with the Geordie notion that they are some kind of Northern Barcelona.
Jansen is God Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I'm enjoying their suffering so much...is that wrong? If that's wrong I don't want to be right
