Bobby G Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 The official website's news does not bode well, does it. Any more snow expected during the day till game-time?

philipl Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Snow update Posted on: Sat 18 Dec 2010 Supporters waking up this Saturday morning will no doubt have experienced overnight snow and Blackburn is no different. Some three to four inches of snow has fallen during the small hours in the Ewood area, and Blackburn Rovers staff are already at the stadium starting the effort of clearing away last night's fall. As of 8am, today's game against West Ham United remains on, with supporters advised to continually check the official website for further updates in the run-up to the 3.00pm kick-off. From the official site
Mike Graham Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 If the game is on there will be very few on.....
BRFC Casuals Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Rovers are doing everything they can to keep this game on. Volunteers are going in now to help clear the snow COYB
Mike Graham Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Like I said I live 6 miles away and am stuck unless I walk,it is also starting to snow again!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 There is at least 4 inches of snow in Ewood, the conditions are very bad around the ground and its started to snow again. If this game goes ahead it will be played infront of one man and his dog!
Mike Graham Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Ok Mum. Just going to get my spade Do I get a refund on my BBend car parking space? The Triust would have sorted it out, not too sure about this chicken lot!
Saltysellars Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Not even going to bother with the car......... so a hike down to Halifax train station, pray that the trains are running to some sort of timetable- will have to get the earlier train so to avoid missing kick off. That is not the issue. The problem is if it snows again whilst I'm travelling / at the game and am then stuck on the way home. The train timetable is not kind, and with only one train an hour, the earliest I'll be able to leave Blackburn is 6:10, and already this morning National Rail are reporting 40 min delays on trains in and out of Blackpool North. Additionally, if you were a West Ham fan with half an ounce of common sense and coming up from London, you'd take one look at the weather and travel prospects and dive straight back under your duvet. Doubt the official coaches from London will set off either. Frustrating, but personal safety does come first. Please keep up with the updates as they are very useful.
Bobby G Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Snowing heavily? I think that was NOT on the forecast.
24right Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Police advising not to use the M61 due to multiple accidents...
Dufflite Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 London news telling folk not to travel Letting the game go ahead knowing this is 'kin irresponsable. If they call it off they have to give refunds / replacement tickets - if travelling fans just dont show then they loose their cash! Very unfair- penalised for following advice.
philipl Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I am sorting out a total mess on flights- got three people travelling (or rather not travelling) today/tomorrow. Heathrow and Gatwick both closed today.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Sat here pondering the relatively small trip from Blackpool - thoughts go out to those travelling further - even have some sympathy for wham fans. Think I will park on outskits of Blackburn in an effort to avoid all those damned hills Can anyone recomend anywhere off Preston New Rd ?
Bobby G Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I think the players have been informed that the game may be called off.
Saltysellars Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I think the players have been informed that the game may be called off. How do you work that one out please Bobby?
Bobby G Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 How do you work that one out please Bobby? A 2+2 off Jason Roberts Twitter.
Stonesrick Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 There is not a cat in hells chance of the game being on. I would bet all my Venky's on that!
Wild Irish Rover Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 There is not a cat in hells chance of the game being on. I would bet all my Venky's on that! would seem to suggest otherwise... (from OneRovers Twitter 3 mins ago) A 2+2 off Jason Roberts Twitter. Oh, I bet he'll be wearing gloves and a snood this afternoon on Ewood then
Bobby G Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Well they need to have the staff there at any rate. Its too early to suggest or decide otherwise. I think they safely have 2 hours before making a call if its needed.
Stonesrick Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 would seem to suggest otherwise... (from OneRovers Twitter 3 mins ago) Perhaps I should rephrase that and state that there is not a cat in hells chance of me and my clan coming to the match. 8 inches of snow on the flatlands of the Fylde coast and I cant get out of my driveway. We are not used to this and our local authority here cannot cope.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 They need to think of the fans travelling from far....the conditions are very bad.Stupid to play this game imo.
