roversmum Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I hope we will get behind the boys, they haven't done anything wrong. I'm sure there will be those who want to make their feelings felt, though, and not necessarily about the sacking of Sam but the way it was done. There are also those who are very concerned about the future of the club. I must admit that I think there could be a very bright future under Venky's, but I am veryuneasy about the involvement of Kentaro, and not at all happy about the way things are happening - it could easily spiral out of control.

tony gale's mic Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Statistically, we'd have lost this with Sam in charge and so that should allieviate some of the pressure. Hmm. Stastically, under Sam we had one of the best home records in the league in his 2 years in charge, only losing to some of the top clubs. Stastically, West Ham have won 0 matches away this season. Did you even get your Maths GCSE?
philipl Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Picking up even stronger rumours in London that Sam will be the WHU manager for this one. If it weren't for the fact that Sam and the porn boys will be like potassium and water and both know it, that would have turned this into as certain an away win there could possibly be.
Bobby G Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 No way Sam could take charge before the game. Although I am sure he would be willing to be on their bench so quickly and will be fired up for the match big-time.
BuckyRover Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Another biased poll. Yes No No- in protest Yes- returning after protest at Sam's management.
WarWand Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 This is a massive game for us at the moment it will also give glimpse of life after sam and maybe the better football on offer. I think there will be a few players in the rovers squad with something to prove now sam has gone and hopefully they may now get a chance with us hopefully playing some football although this doesnt happen overnight.

Statistically, we also had "one of the worst" away records. Are you a supply teacher per chance?
thenodrog Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Statistically, we'd have lost this with Sam in charge and so that should allieviate some of the pressure. Explain. Off the top of my head we've tended to beat those below and around us under Allardyce's management (the 6 pointers) and get thumped by the big boys. I think you'll struggle to find the stats to back up your statement without relying on some silly reference to them being a bogey club.
thenodrog Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 One of the ideas was to not turn up until 5 mins into the game. An excellent idea for anybody who wishes to make a poignant and relatively undamaging protest at this weeks events. TV is a mighty weapon against anybody dependent on good PR. Personally I'd make it 10 minutes. Another pint bought around 2.55 and consumed on the concourse won't hurt will it? Admin...... Can this option be added to the poll?

Whereas now, we might.

JAL Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Can fully see the players being de-motivated, so it should be interesting. It wouldnt surprise me one bit if Rovers were to lose this game three or four nil.

Olveres Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Maybe Kalinic will finally be released in a 4-4-2 formation and destroy their back line.
Jackson Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I asked you to find the stats Jackson. 3 draws.

Not a great idea Gord, I wont be protesting. Steve Kean needs the best support possible on Saturday. The guy must feel a lot of pressure. He will feel very isolated taking the first team against Wham - where are the experienced PL people to help him out? To me, it's vital that we start well and get in front in this game, hence no need for protests. I'll back him 100% and really hope he can take us forwards and make the job his own. I don't underestimate how difficult that will be though. Tony Parkes used to say that a caretaker manager can only have any influence for so long. The players will soon realise that he has no real power, and he will soon realise that himself. It's a holding job and that's no position for the club to be in. Kean would have had a better chance of making a real go of this, if he'd have been appointed permanently. Having said that, if things go badly during the game, there's plenty of lads on the BBE end who will soon let Venky's know how they feel. and one of Keans biggest problems is that that sentiment will still be there until the managers position is sorted out properly. Looking forward to this game now. It'll be interesting to see how Kean lines up. Will it be significantly different from Sam? Will Niko feel as though the pressure is off him now? Will the players feel lifted, or deflated? How will we react if we go behind? Should be interesting.
Olveres Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I usually sit in JW next to the away dugout but this weekend I have a box in the Blackburn End. I am so switching the PA in the box to "crowd"!!!!!!!!
slough_rover Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Im hoping that the doom mongers are made to eat humble pie.

We've sacked a stalwart Prem manager and you recommend that we replace him with an unknown? The only reason he's been promoted is cos he's on Kentaro's books I understand.

It's not very fair on the players, is it? It's not their fault. We need to be on the ground and giving them our support from the moment they come out of the tunnel. Kamy's post and Den's comment should be sent direct to Mrs Desai if that is at all possible. I'm not holding my breath but I would like to think that Mrs Desai is reading the fans' concerns somehow.

No Gordon, you misunderstand. I said on another thread that he would have stood a better chance of succeeding if he had been given the job permanently. I followed it by saying "not that I think he should". Meaning that it's very, very difficult for him as a caretaker - and we shouldn't be in this position anyway.
thenodrog Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 It's not very fair on the players, is it? It's not their fault. How do you know they are not in agreement? I'd wager the vast majority would back it.

Don't you mean he's been promoted because he's the first team coach and has worked with the players all season? You seem to see conspiracy where none exists!
grizfoot Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 "Also, as a special treat, Cadbury are handing out Cadbury's Button giveaways on the councourses between 1.30pm and 3.00pm."
chocky Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Another biased poll. Yes No No- in protest Yes- returning after protest at Sam's management. We seem to be the only two that is glad he's gone..There does seem to be a lot of hysteria on here though as on facebook and other message boards..change is aleays difficult but I actually like what the new owners are saying. It just remains for them to back up their ambitions.. It's not very fair on the players, is it? It's not their fault. We need to be on the ground and giving them our support from the moment they come out of the tunnel. I'm not holding my breath but I would like to think that Mrs Desai is reading the fans' concerns somehow. I don't think the Walker trust did either Mum..
