I was shocked they sacked Allardyce, but even more shocked that they haven't lined up his replacement. If they had a Jol or similar lined up ASAP then I'd still have them down as ruthless but thought "it's their club".

Why now admit it could be months to get a new man in. Why sack Sam in the mean time?! Steve Kean in charge of first team affairs for potentially months. No doubt he'll go on a little winning streak, we'll give him the perm job and then he'll do cr@p and we'll pot him.

Don't know what to think anymore, but fear the worst.

The Rao folk put the money down when nobody else did. They used the advice and knowhow of Kentaro all along the way.

Now comes the crunch.

Can they attract the profile manager or 'figurehead' they want?

Can they attract and afford the players they want?

By the way, the statement about 'British' managers is not the full story, Mrs D immediately added it could be a tp quality name from anywhere.

Major days ahead for the new regime.

I suppose the only consolation is that now they've come out and said we want top 5 and entertaining football, they are going to have to deliver or become a global laughing stock. Something that will be seen as insulting to MS Desai's late father's legacy... and potentially damaging to their expansion plans.

Nicko - what is you opinon on Steve Kean do you think he is capable of being caretaker manager?

Steve Kean.

Bright chap, lots of coaching badges, speaks several languages.

Street-wise Glasgow type in the Moyes mould.

No fool, well-liked by players and has lots of contacts in the game.

Came up the hard way as a player - went abroad for a spell. Done the apprenticeship as a coach at all levels.

Reckoned to be the 'brains' at Fulham when Chris Coleman was in charge.

Big mates with Billy 'Badger' McKinlay. Watch that space if he stays.

Gone backwards?

We have 21 points. How many did we have at this point last season? We have about 4 games coming up of which at least 2-3 are winnable. So potentially under Sam we would have had 28 points if not more after about 20-21 games. And that is backwards? On a summer where Benjani has been the star attraction.

If anything we have played better football on the whole this season. We look more comfortable against teams in and around us too. Confidence was back that we should be winning games.

Backwards I dont buy.

Kalinic should be the star though shouldn't he? But thats 6m wasted playing Allardyces system.

The football is poor, the defence is poor, and its worse than the back end of last season, so that for me is going backwards.

Big mates with Billy 'Badger' McKinlay.

We have gone backwards from last season, even a blind man can see that LeChuck.

I don't expect miracles on £0 budget but to go backwards is unacceptable.

We played some decent stuff towards the back end of last season, that has disappeared, and we’re back to the percentage football and not bothering away from home which is criminal for me.

The defence, which has been our strong point, look some weeks like they’ve never played before, and clearly the owners have seen this, many of the fans have seen this and that’s why I’m delighted he’s gone.

Just so you don’t get confused:

I respect and applaud the job Allardyce did in keeping us in this league, but his time had come to leave, he’d taken our football club as far as it could go.

So you expect us to move forward after spending nothing in the summer - strange thoughts, hopefully you are not entering our new owners line of thinking.

Also sacking the manager just when we are about to enter a busy period of games is fairly risky to say the least.

You suprise me GAV, you seem a pretty switched on kind of guy, but you seem to be taking a very black and white view, ie- 'I don't like Sam, glad he's gone, now we can play good football'.

In normal circumstances at other clubs, you may have a point, but with turmoil going on behind the scenes, with Kentaro in the shadows, is this not worrying you??

Nicko, i keep reading and hearing reports that Sam wanted certain players ie Roque, Bentley and Adam and in fact what he had been told to go for was Geovanni and Kris Boyd. Surely to god there cant be anything in this can there. I mean Kris Boyd!!!!!

if this is the case then i am not surprised for one second that he has gone

I never mentioned going forward, I'd be happy with playing the same stuff we saw back end of last season, but thats not happening.

If Blackpool, West Brom and Bolton can do it, with the right man we can do it also.

Plenty of people disagree. The stats don't even back you up - 19 points from 18 games last season. 21 from 17 games this season.

We've got 3 more points away from home than we did last year as well.

Bold font isn't a substitute for facts. You've got nothing to back up your claim really, so you shouldn't be as condescending in your approach to it.

Thanks for the Info sounds like he could become a manager, but i think the new owners have other ideas.

I dont know if he has a playing style he prefers to use I am guessing it will be a lot more on the deck :)

It's obvious, a couple of months takes us past the transfer window without one of those annoying 'managers' asking for money to buy his own players...ergo they'll spend bugger all in January. Ha ha, I thought they were kidding when they said they'd only give Sam £5m, well I'd snap your hand off for that instead of Kentaro's man sitting whilst we take on their freebies.

Points don't prove anything in terms of performances LeChuck, they do matter, but only at the end of the season.

I like many others, have seen with our own blinkers that the football has deteriorated this season, look at the defence as a prime example.

Anyway this is going nowhere, the majority are in favour and he’s gone :tu:

Must admit to being concerned over JW and TF - but thats for another thread.

Some of the names being mentioned recently have been very odd.

Someone at the club has been playing games and leaking all sorts of names for mischievous reasons - probably because they saw a storm coming.

The Boyd and Geovnanni things are shockers. I don't' think that is right. If so, somebody needs booting.

However I would point out that Biyd was considered in the summer pre-Venky's. So rotten names have been on the agenda for some time.

Sam was working on N'Zogbia, Adam and possibly Carlton Cole. And those are only the ones I heard about.

I have to say when I heard those names I thought you could be putting a good side together.

I can only repeat what the statement says - and it was a wild rumour I picked up a while back - Steve Kean will be in charge of the team for the time being.

I think he is admired. I don't think he is on trial.

If results are good it will justify his position. If not I would expect to see him still being involved.

Last time I checked, 17% were in favour of his sacking.

We've scored 22 goals compared to 17 last year by the way.

The only thing you're going by is your judgement of the football (and bafflingly goals don't seem to count in whatever criteria you're using). Every other meaningful comparison to last season suggests you are wrong.

Defensive mistakes I'll give you, but we're still doing better in the league.

WRONG again

56 votes [15.18%] are in favour he has gone!

I think the ones voting "given him a bit more time" would freely admit that they are sick of the DROSS that has been served up under his tenure but are just a bit upset at the timing and dealing of the sacking - it being a tad insensitive and that.

Bolton were third in the table of who has played the highest percentage of long passes this season. But perception will always be preferred over statistics, so everybody buys into the hype around Coyle.

Yes but their success rate was a lot higher than ours in completing those passes. We played the second highest amount of long balls but we had the worst success rate in completing them. Just shows you how bad our football was all round.

You still wouldn't vote "given him a bit more time" if you were in favour of him being sacked, that doesn't make any sense.

This site has around 50 regular posters and 150 day trippers when we have a sacking, hardy a cross section of 20k+ supporters! Both sky and talk sport had 1 in 5 people disgusted at his departure, speaks volumes.

Not wanting to keep repeating myself, but the football is worse than the end of last season, that’s what I’m basing my theory on, oh yes and the disgusting ‘beaten before we play attitude’ towards away matches.

Can’t make it any clearer than that.
