John Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Don't think the players were in today training, back tomorrow.

BuckyRover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Anyone heard any comments from the players today? I'm familiar with Roberts, Nelsen and Gamst from yesterday but would be interested in any response today. Presume they've come in and met Kean and realised there is to be no planned appointment / master plan. Roberts said the whole team respect Kean and are looking forward to working with him as their manager. He also said aiming for fifth is no bad thing (I think RVR said this but can't find it) Tony Parkes has said that some players will be glad he has gone.
hawkiiz Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Roberts said the whole team respect Kean and are looking forward to working with him as their manager. He also said aiming for fifth is no bad thing (I think RVR said this but can't find it) Tony Parkes has said that some players will be glad he has gone. Parkes said that on a general basis though. He said players that are not regulars will be happy because it might open up for them. He was not specific. Nelsen was almost crying on the radio yesterday for christs sake!
LDRover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Fair enough. But what about the quote saying no players are unhappy at all? All is just well and dandy? Didn't seem unhappy to me at the disabled supporters party last night. Shocked maybe but not unhappy. Time will tell if they're demotivated/unhappy etc, to just assume they are brings out the old ass/u/me adage.
beerwins Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Roberts said the whole team respect Kean and are looking forward to working with him as their manager. He also said aiming for fifth is no bad thing (I think RVR said this but can't find it) Tony Parkes has said that some players will be glad he has gone. In all fairness Tony Parkes sounded a bit senile, he said MON is the most exiting name being mentioned to the vacant managers job, he exites me about as much as tuppaware. He also mentioned something about morten patterson
alexanders Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Nelsen was almost crying on the radio yesterday for christs sake! Hold your horses there cowboy! Thats totally blown out of porportion.
American Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Parkes said that on a general basis though. He said players that are not regulars will be happy because it might open up for them. He was not specific. Nelsen was almost crying on the radio yesterday for christs sake! And Jason Roberts seemed happy. Also don't get where you're seeing Gamst as not happy by reading his blog...
BuckyRover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 We will see at 5pm on Saturday how unhappy they are. Until then we don't have much of a clue
jim mk2 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 We will see at 5pm on Saturday how unhappy they are. Or they pull their tripe out and play well for their sacked old boss. You can twist it either way.
John Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 We will see at 5pm on Saturday how unhappy they are. Until then we don't have much of a clue So if we win one match against the bottom team in the league everthing will be Hunky Dory?
BuckyRover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Or they pull their tripe out and play well for their sacked old boss. You can twist it either way. No you can't. How on earth does that do Sam's reputation any good? Winning proves he isn't needed. Lose and it points to him being missed. Good luck trying to spin that on Saturday
AggyBlue Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 So if we win one match against the bottom team in the league everthing will be Hunky Dory? If he can't fashion a win against the leagues whipping boys we're in it deep
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Got to feel sorry for Steve Keane, reading between the lines. Firstly, if results go badly he'll get it in the neck. secondly, how does he approach games? We've been told Sam's gone because they want better football (fine by me). Therefore you assume this guy has to 'entertain', if not, there would be no difference from Sam. Thirdly, we all know the squad is pretty limited and have had Sam football drilled into them for the last 18 months, can he unpick that in 2 months? Fourthly, He surely won't be allowed to strengthen the squad - nor is he likely to be able to attract any quality. Finally, if he does keep us up and plays some decent football then there's every chance a 'glamour' character will be appointed (be it as a director of football or whatever) and steal his glory. Given Venkys comments about kean and his rapport with the young players, perhaps we'll see a young Rovers on Saturday. 4-4-2 with Hoilett and Olsonn on the wings, M Diouf & Kalinic up front and Jones back in defence....
BuckyRover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 So if we win one match against the bottom team in the league everthing will be Hunky Dory? No. But it proves we can win a game without him. You would be forgiven for thinking that many on here think that's a bridge too far for our untalented squad. If we lose I will say that the early signs aren't good. Mainly because I thought we would win with Sam in charge.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Or they pull their tripe out and play well for their sacked old boss. You can twist it either way. Ah - so previously when we won or achieved a decent League position it was down to Sam's superb management. But when we lost it wasn't Sam's fault - after all he has no control over what the players do once they cross that white line. But if we win on Saturday, no credit can go to Steve Kean - it must all go to Sam even though he's no longer at the Club.
hawkiiz Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 And Jason Roberts seemed happy. Also don't get where you're seeing Gamst as not happy by reading his blog... Of course Roberts doesn't mind. He fell out with Sam and wanted out anyway.
Roversider Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 As usual some players will be very disappointed that Sam has gone, some worried and some will be ecstatic. Kean provides some continuity and I don't know how it will turn out on Saturday but I would hope that the players selected will be keen enough to play for their own sake as well as the Rovers. There will be new faces in January so they need to play for their own future. Also team spirit extends far beyond the manager. Sam is gone now, best of luck to him whilst he counts his cash. I really believe he will be doing an effective job at another club. As usual, owners change, managers change, players change but Blackburn Rovers continue on. I support the Rovers and not the staff, the owners or the players. Lets look forward now.
hawkiiz Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Hold your horses there cowboy! Thats totally blown out of porportion. Listen again then. He was not happy. Dunn was not happy. MGP was not happy on Norwegian TV, and is insecure on his blog. Of course he doesn't write a bad word about anyone, but there is a reason why is crying for people to stand together during this rough patch. He does say "nobody is bigger than the club". Why would he bother saying that if everything is just awesome at the club?

Why would he bother saying that if everything is just awesome at the club? Yep cos things were totally awesome after we got tanked 7-1 at Old Trafford. And it was all tickite boo after being done by 10 man Bolton. Also, Dunny was quite happy when I talked to him last night - can't say how MGP felt as he wasn't there. Or maybe that's why he wasn't there? Yep, he boycotted the xmas party because of Sam getting potted..you may have something there.
47er Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 No you can't. How on earth does that do Sam's reputation any good? Winning proves he isn't needed. Lose and it points to him being missed. Good luck trying to spin that on Saturday To draw an exact parallel, Newcastle fans coming out of the game last weekend said that the team had done it for Hughton. Jim is quite right and either explanation could be justified. Best not to draw any conclusions from one game--which I've been saying all season!
BuckyRover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 But why? Losing would be doing it for Hodgson/Sam. I wanted Newcastle to lose to make Ashley look like an idiot and I was very disappointed that they didn't.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 If he can't fashion a win against the leagues whipping boys we're in it deep Errr.........How did Sam do in his two home games against West Ham again?

Of course they did not make a scene or tell you all their feelings at a party for disabled people. They are professionals, not kids. Would you tell any outsider of how you feel about your work just like that? Things were not awesome at Old Trafford. I was just as devastated as you, but it was no crisis after beating wolves 3-0 was it? I could only watch about 35 minutes of the Bolton game, but what I saw was us completely dominating and playing good attacking football. Unlucky not to score. However my point is Mrs. Desai says there is NO unrest or insecurity amongst the players. How do you defend that? Are you really saying they are all happy about losing Sam? If so, why did they not complain earlier and get him sacked even earlier?

Who died after a fall (climbing I'm guessing).

If you can show me where I implied that they were all happy about losing Sam then I'll happily debate it with you. I'll give you a clue though - you won't...unless that is you twist my words.
