Just a quick question, even if we were to be safe this season have people actually enjoyed it?

Whether it's the way Sam had us playing or football in general I havnt been looking forward to the games with the same vigour as in times gone by.

At times I think this premiership lark isn't all it's cracked up to be :(

Some west ham fans on the radio today said they would rather go down with Grant than stay up with Sam, maybe there's a tiny little bit of sense in that!

The problem is if we went down we wouldn't come back.

Ah - so previously when we won or achieved a decent League position it was down to Sam's superb management.

But when we lost it wasn't Sam's fault - after all he has no control over what the players do once they cross that white line.

But if we win on Saturday, no credit can go to Steve Kean - it must all go to Sam even though he's no longer at the Club.

Fantastic Rev, made my night

I know plenty that have stopped going altogether under Allardyce because of his style of football, I know more that have stopped going away for the same reason.

But I also know plenty that have stopped going because football isn't the same anymore, no standing, no smoking and players getting paid to much.

You are remarkably sanguine LD Rover. Congratulations to you--I just can't feel that way, because:

We are about to embark on a run of winnable games. Before Sam's sacking I was confident we 'd go into the New Year with a good safety margin between us and the relegation zone. I'm not so confident now--are you?

We have an untried caretaker manager for an unspecified period but it could be till the end of the season! And he won't have Sam or Neil MacDonald's know-how to help him. A step-up too far?

The January transfer window is nearly on us. There is no chance of Kean being able to stand up to the Venky's. He will get whomever is foisted on him and the new manager will inherit them. Have you heard anything about the Venky's transfer market intention to make you happy?

In summary what is there to base your optimism on? Are you just happy to be rid of Allardyce and not thinking it through beyond that?

It looks that way. Same applies to you Bucky.

I sincerely hope your confidence is not misplaced because, like you, I love this club but on balance I feel I have every reason to be concerned by recent events.

47er, I've said that I feel the timing is wrong and that the one thing that all Rovers fans, pro and anti Sam would agree on is that we wouldn't get relegated under him. I'd still like to think we'll be clear of relegation by the end of the season but one can never be sure - win on Saturday and we'll be talking about Europe!

The thing is we're all assuming that Venky's are shysters who are intent on ruining the club when the reality is that we really don't know. Fact is we'll be going into a transfer window for the first time in ages with some money to spend and this alone is a reason to be optimistic. Will the Venky's foist players on a 'puppet' manager or do they believe Kean to be the real deal? Again , we do not know and while you have every right to be concerned you should also reserve others the right to feel that maybe there is a chance they could be good for the club. In fact, why would they not want that? They appear to have done pretty well for themselves in business so far, why set up to fail here?

You may not agree with the rationale in removing Sam but it's hard to argue that the football wasn't pleasing on the eye and would hardly enhance the Rovers brand, so if that's one of their objectives in moving the club forward you can hardly blame them for potting him.

I'm not just blindly happy that Sam has gone but in any walk of life change happens. This change could be our downfall but by the same token it could take us into a new and exciting chapter as Rovers fans. Time will tell.

The coming relegation battle should prove very exciting, if that's what turns you on.

I prefer safety in mid-table thank you, which is what the owners tossed away yesterday.

how boring, they would have never been multi millionaires with that attitude

I like a gamble, blackburn have got stale for years

Tell you what, stump up 40 million and the club can do it your way, stuck in a lower/mid-table twilight zone where nothing ever happens.

You want something to happen ? How about relegation ? £40 million well spent.

It is a game afterall

Unbelieveable. My missus says that - and she's a non-competitor too.

Something's niggling me. I've never heard of Steve Kean before. The Venkys got rid of Neil Mac as well as Sam and are prepared to put Mr Kean in charge 'til the end of the season.

LT reports he's a Glaswegian in the Moyes mould, well respected in the football fraternity, worked at Fulham under Chris Coleman, and at Coventry when Chelsea wanted him. Could he be also in the Shankly mode?

Have Venkys become aware of an unknown gem who could become a great manager?

I wish............we'll see..............

Best of luck, Steve.

As I said in the other thread, can't believe what they're doing to The Great Club Jack Built!

The most important outcome is of course how Rovers get on and ends up, however I'd rather finish 10th under BFS than 11th under the chicken farmers and whoever they appoint as a Kentaro Puppet.

Over the last dacede since we got promoted we've had our ups and downs. However they were all footie related, please keep it that way!

THERE'S ONLY ONE JACK WALKER

GRAEME SOUNESS' BLUE&WHITE ARMY

SPARKY'S BL'IGHT BARMY ARMY

BIG FAT SAMS BLUE&WHITE ARMY

THERE'S ONLY ONE JACK WALKER

It'll take a lot for Venkys/Kentaro/Puppet Master/Whoever to get added to that list

Still hope to get proved wrong though

With respect all they've done so far is bin an arrogant bloke who would never put bums on seats. Let's make judgements a few weeks down the line eh?

Is that not what you're implying though Hawkiiz by initially saying Dunn was unhappy?

If you can show me where I implied that they were all happy about losing Sam then I'll happily debate it with you. I'll give you a clue though - you won't...unless that is you twist my words. ;)

To be honest I don't mind what you have said or not, and since you seem completely unable to answer my question, I don't see any point in trying to move this conversation any further.

Desai said no players are at unrest or concerned. If you believe that is the truth, then good for you.

Everyone i spoke to last night was over the moon with the sacking. It is just the timing of it that i find strange.

So out of 12 people i have spoken to 12 wanted him to go. Thats 100%. Thats my poll and is probably the most accurate one around.

Let me guess..... Under 30 are you? Blackburn end ST?

How am I doing so far?

This site has around 50 regular posters and 150 day trippers when we have a sacking, hardy a cross section of 20k+ supporters! Both sky and talk sport had 1 in 5 people disgusted at his departure, speaks volumes.

Not wanting to keep repeating myself, but the football is worse than the end of last season, that’s what I’m basing my theory on, oh yes and the disgusting ‘beaten before we play attitude’ towards away matches.

Can’t make it any clearer than that.

The mask has well and truly slipped.

If he can't fashion a win against the leagues whipping boys we're in it deep

ordinarily I'd agree w/ this comment. however:

1. it's Rovers we're talking about and

2. to compount it, WSpam has been our bogey side for too long.

In short, I wouldn't use the next game as the acid test.

Another interview with Sam on Sky

Thought I'd post this, given some people are proclaiming "majority" are glad he got sacked. You can see that on the comments in the above article, MOST neutrals are actually quite shocked by the news as well.

I know it's no laughing matter but that picture Sky has chosen to accompany this article is most appropriate. BS looking as if he's furiously trying to fly away from the touchline. Makes a nice connection to the whole chicken thing. :)

Blackburn Rovers, the Premier League's version of the village idiot.

As much as I wanted a change from Sam this lot think that a cokehead is the answer to our problems ? A man so reviled after 'you know what' we'll get booed at every ground ?

Cheat Cheat Cheat....... and thats only at Ewood!

Got to feel sorry for Steve Keane, reading between the lines.

Feel sorry? Reading the lines themselves he's just been promoted beyond his wildest dreams by the [don't be a idiot all your life!].

Errr.........How did Sam do in his two home games against West Ham again?

I must have missed something. Have we played WHU twice this season already at Ewood?

I've never liked him, going back to the 70's when he was a player. However, he did keep us up in trying circumstannces and that will always be in the record books, so credit where it's due.

But I'm glad he's gone, because I was losing interest in watching us play. I PVR'd the Bolton game and still haven't watched it, and not for the first time. Unlike some on here who have orgasms over any kind of psoitive result, my love of the Rovers has been fed for over 40 years by excitement and heroes. Frankly, I couldn't care less if, out of 15 goes at it, someone gets a head on the ball, someone scuffs at the 2nd ball, and it hits someone's knee to go in. Keep doing it enought times and it'll happen.

I want to see Ken Knighton smack in a screamer; Tony Field beat 5 players and walk it in; Sir Roger dribble to the halfway line; beat Plymouth 5-2; watch Waggy hit 50 yarders that stop on a sixpence; see Garner hit a sweet volley on the turn; watch Speedie taunt the opposition fans; see Shearer do anything; see Tugay's volley against Fulham. Watching Allardyce's Rovers bored me; hopefully the next guy's Rovers will have more excitement.

No doubt I'll be labelled as naive and unrealistic, but hey ho, that's why I love the Rovers - great memories, and I want more of them.

Sentimental clap trap. Have you been on the booze?

I doubt WHU would either with their crippling debt.

The press articles are universally depressing. We are a laughing stock. What's being seen by them and never addressed by the owners is the yawning chasm between the owners stated aim to see us in 4th/5th position and the lack of funds for transfers.

Worse the Guardian is openly querying their financial ability to take the club higher.

But never mind, Sam's gone, we can play open/flowing football and that's all that matters.

Guardian article:

Blackburn Rovers' new Indian owners yesterday balanced their abrupt decision to sack Sam Allardyce with airy promises about a top-four finish this season. That is all very well but someone has to finance it.

Quite how Venky's and its chairwoman, Anuradha Desai, will go about it is far from clear. The company's most recently available accounts, to the end of March last year, show it made less than £29m in profit. This contributed to a healthy cash balance of a little over £150m: healthy but hardly breathtaking.

About £46m of the cash has been swallowed up by the purchase of Blackburn. Subsequent quarterly accounts show that by the end of the 2009 calendar year Venky's had added another £6.8m in profit, though how much cash that added is not detailed. So Venky's is neither Roman Abramovich nor Sheikh Mansour. Small wonder they talk about loans not transfers.

Agree with your first para.

2nd para-----you're open the to the possibility that Venkys are shysters then? That's scary. I've never suggested that.

We don't know the outcome, as you say, but I'd suggest they will foist unwanted players on the manager and thats why Sam had to go.

And their finances (see above) won't allow them to acquire players remotely able to meet their stated aims.

Your last sentence--I pray you are right.
