[Archived] New Rovers Boss

Recommended Posts

Sven could be a go'er surely.

Unless the Rao family is going to give him mega-millions, I can't see Sven doing anything with the Rovers except take us down. Even then I'd have reservations. He is past it, in my opinion. His performances with Mexico, Côte d'Ivoire and, currently, Leicester City do not inspire confidence. Last year, Leicester was 5th. This year under Sven they are 13th, currently. In the Championship, which does not inspire confidence about how he'd do in the PL.

If we were to bring in an Argentinian, Marcelo Bielsa would be my choice . But his brand of football is far too adventurous, people will inevitably moan about being given a footballing heart attack at Ewood. Rovers fans being Rovers fans and all that

Also noticed he's unemployed

Im also ###### by the media's reaction towards Big Sam's sacking with moral outrage - where previously Big Sam (and Blackburn) has been the target of footballing ridicule, now the media has been in utmost sympathy with Big Sam. And poor old Blackburn has been tipped for unmitigated disaster by the media because - we sacked Big Sam. Pesky media wants unfashionable Rovers to fail all the time, eh.

I hope this saga will be the point where we RALLY around our club, where we trade mediocrity for ambition, where we realise that the club will always be bigger than the the manager or anyone in charge.

Instead of expressing some unfair kneejerk outrage toward our Indian owners. Do not underestimate the xenophobic undertones that undergird the excess outrage really

Truly disappointed in the sacking of Big Sam. He pulled us out of the mud, and deserved his chance with an actual transferbudget..

That being said, I will reserve my judgement on Venky's until I see who the new manager is..

IF, they haven't already decided - FAILURE

IF, they appoint Maradona in anything but a mascot role - FAILURE

IF, they aim lower than the likes of Martin O'Neill, Martin Jol etc - FAILURE

IF, they pull in a foreign ex-star player with no special managerial experience - FAILURE

IF, they cause John Williams to leave the club - FAILRE

So, the outcome is yet unclear...Please nicko, keep us posted during this nervous appointment period

I for one hope its Jol or O Neil but as Nicko points out the pointers are heading towards maradona in some capacity...which means as I feared a few weeks ago the Venkys are just using the club for their own publicity and raising their profile and not the clubs...if its true what Nicko summices lets just hope the Argentinian can work the hand of god magic........

It begins.... National radio (5 live) openly ridiculing Rovers over the sacking and hardly able to contain their mirth about the Maradonna story - "It will be a very entertaining 5 minutes, whilst it lasts.." was (I think) their parting shot at 7.30 this morning.

Hard to comprehend the naivity of Venkys regarding press and PR. I'm completely bemused and can only hope that they have a 'strategy' because as things stand it appears we have been taken over by the ready fire aim brigade...

For me a high profile technical director plus a proven steady eddy for hands on coaching is the best scenario. Get the Rovers playing football (dare I say 'again'?) and use the reputation of the big name to build the brand internationally. We are in a very odd place at the moment, what with jocks on National Radio quipping, "Blackburn?, Who are they and where is that?"

Cautious optimism now rapidly becoming nervous tension...

It's happened before though, seem to recall we shoved the smirking looks back down their throat that time too......

Agree though, nervous times, I was looking forward to who we got in but not so much right now.

Basically Steve Kean has go the job for at least 2 months

and Sam was ired for not taking Boyd and Geovanni

These guys have no money and no style - end of.

You're ####ing me. We have no boss for 2 months whilst we drift down the table.

If that is the case, then why was Sam sacked ? He is being paid his contract up, we won't be spending then in the transfer window.

Run by people who don't have a clue about football - what a complete mess.

JW will leave today im sure of it and with him will go our common sense and realistic input on how to remain a premiership club.

It looks as if we are becoming a massive marketing model for people in it to make money, well note to Venky's if you want to make money you have to be in the top flight.

you cant bring in players over ANY managers head and expect him to perform and if you continue in this manor we will end up being managed by a yes man with no credentials.

Sort this out fast.
