RevidgeBlue Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Just been going through this list below and so many poor managers out there - can't really think of anyone realistically who I would be keen on? http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/blackburn-specials/next-permanent-manager Well at a quick glance I'd be quite happy with the likes of Jol, O'Neill, Coyle, Holloway, Moyes, Lambert, Grayson etc. On the more unrealistic end of the list I note Hiddink, Mourinho and Capello are on there as well. I wonder hypothetically if Fabio would ever be tempted by a top Premiership job? Not that I'd want him nor does he fit the owners' latest criteria of being younger and British.
Jimmy612 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Moyes is another one who will not be treated like a puppet... If Venkys are taking advice from Kentaro expect a 'yes man' and nothing else!
yoda Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Todays LET is reporting that Shearer would be interested in taking the job. I would rather have Shearer than Maradona. After calming down after yesterdays hysterics I think it is good that Keane will be given a chance. Never heard of him before but after reading comments\reports about him he sounds like a good guy who the players respect. Well he would be well sorted for his Chicken and Beans diet

Never heard of him before but after reading comments\reports about him he sounds like a good guy who the players respect. Oh! Please not Shearer, he would be a disasterous appointment.. what's he done in management? a short very unsuccessful spell at Newcastle Mind you, he could fit into the 'yes man' mould Venky's seem to be looking for! ie, a figurehead as opposed to a total control manager.

I did say realistically. Speaking with Spurs fans, as sadly I work with a lot of them, they are not so sure on Jol - plus you are forgetting the influence of Kentaro too. Hiddink would be great, obviously, so would a few others you mention, however they wouldn't come. Our new owners wanted Maradona so we can probably expect another weird decision when it happens.
den Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 And as speculation continues about the next manager, sources have revealed Rovers title-winning legend Alan Shearer is interested in the post. LT
Bobby G Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Shearer disastrous but Kean OK for two months? Whats the difference? Just cause Shearer had 8 games at Newcastle and fluffed it, and Kean hasnt had the chance to prove his credentials doesnt really mean much. Both as risky as one another in my opinion. In fact, if one had to be a long-term appointment, Id pick Shearer over Kean.

You all seem to be talking as though these managers are going to come to blackburn... There is no way that Jol, MoN, Coyle, Holloway, Moyes or probabaly any manager of any credibility would want this job. We have seen this happen before at different clubs. As soon as Venkys started taking advice from Kentaro, managers were slim pickings! It showed a complete lack of football knowledge to sack a premier league manager(for no reason) without at least having a well thought out, experienced manager ready to sit down and dicuss terms. Venkys have not thought this through, and now are flapping around trying to convince everyone Kean is better than Allardyce.. its completely ridiculous.

I can hear the mopeds popping and see the heads wobbling, Still it livens the place up a bit
Miker Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Maradona is the only name that fits in with Venky's plan. No one in India, except for the avid football fans, is going to care about Shearer or Rijkard or whoever else is in the running. Everyone knows Maradona though.
47er Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 No point at all in gazing at lists of prospective managers. Hughes, Moyes etc etc would not work under these conditions. We'll end up with a lemon.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Interesting and perhaps at the same time worrying comments from Mrs Desai about looking at a former EPL player to manage the club. Only a few come to mind Shearer, Pearce, Poyet, Di Matteo, Martinez and Zola. All ones i would not like to see manage our club.
pancini Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I think it will be Pearce. 1. Comments that it will be the end of the season - he will want to take the Under 21's to the Euros in the summer 2. Is managing the U'21's - this fits with bringing through youngsters which is supposed to be one of the things were looking at doing 3. British
tony gale's mic Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Di Matteo and Poyet of that list wouldn't be bad shouts IMO, but unfortunately I'm pretty sure she said "English" too... But their story changes with each interview, that in itself is clear they haven't got a fig what they're doing.
joeh8 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6578739,00.html Sounds good in regards to JW but no new boss till the summer? Lets hope keane can live up to his potential!

Lets hope keane can live up to his potential! or lets hope that no new boss until the end of the summer is a mis-quote. if it is even a quote, I read 2 months-ish.

Lets hope keane can live up to his potential! But Barry Chuckle said a new British boss in 10 days! Proof, as I said, that these people don't have a clue.
joeh8 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 But Barry Chuckle said a new British boss in 10 days! Proof, as I said, that these people don't have a clue. This worries me, how can the justify sacking Sam yet not replace him untill the end of the season? Completely DISGRACEFULL!
LeftWinger Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 The good thing about getting Shearer would be that if he was a great success - it would be at least 5 and a half years until Newcastle need another manager
John Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Hardly a genius suggestion (because he is with Kentaro) but I am tempted to lay a lot of money on Stuart Pearce being our next manager.
roversfan1 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Rovers confirm contact with Maradona Im not sure whats worse - him as boss or the fact we may have a caretaker manager till the end of the season!!
cruz Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 It showed a complete lack of football knowledge to sack a premier league manager(for no reason) without at least having a well thought out, experienced manager ready to sit down and dicuss terms. Do you mean like the time we sacked Paul Ince? Don't let the facts get in the way of your hysteria eh?
nicko Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Hardly a genius suggestion (because he is with Kentaro) but I am tempted to lay a lot of money on Stuart Pearce being our next manager. Stuart Pearce is not a Kentaro client. Is this the new McCarthyism?
OJRovers Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I think the way the owners handled the sacking might make it harder to appoint a decent manager. How many of our past managers 'had advice' from Fergie before joining us (Ince, Hughes, Big Sam?) He previously said 'well run club', now his advice is probably going to be 'stay away'.
