The treatment we're getting in the media now though is exactly what you'd expect.

It's the sort of treatment we give Newcastle when they unveil their latest cock up.

Yes but compare the Hughton sacking with the Allardyce sacking and for me we've overtaken the geordies as the press whipping boys. Especially as they are quite notorious for this kind of thing and the Hughton sacking was absolutely bizarre given that he was Ashleys appointment AND considering who replaced him.

I can't help but feel that our press are adding a lot of fuel to the fire and taking advantage of the miles between them and our new owners, just to make mischief. Not that I'm saying Venkys are blameless (they really should let JW speak on their behalf) but I have to wonder how much is mischievous journalism.

True, but everyone knows Ashley is mental so thats hardly new, plus he doesnt give half as many cringeworthy interviews as these lot do.

Well if they carry on talking this ridiculous, immature, naive, ignorant, arrogant, unintelligent, cringeworthy, disrepecful bullsh!t to the media, they will be treated like royalty at Ewood Park.

The french royalty around about 1793!

I cannot think of a time when such blatant stupidity has had such a global audience. I've had p1sstaking messages from three continents.

Have they any idea how much the Swiss lawyers and cockney spiv are taking them for a ride?

i for one, couldn't care any less of how they are treated in india and how they expect to be treated, over there, over here or anywhere in particular. they are gonna be crucified even more over the coming months, and dare i say that how they have gone about all this, will have deserved every insult thrown their way.

to tell big sam he is fired, and then to say that steve kean (being a kentaro man) is put in temporary charge until a new manager can be found, then to go further and suggest that he might be given until the end of the season....makes them an absolute laughing stock, which they certainly deserve.

why did they not just tell sam, that he is being given to the end of the season to complete certain objectives.....there is absolutely no rationale in their thinking, because regarding football they don't have two brain cells to rub together!!

Brother- Bilaji.

The one who has not said anything to the media yet.

SO Bilaji is the wise one?

. . . I get the feeling that they think that investing £50 million would win the Premiership so their ambitions are a little silly at this point (In my opinion).

If they get every pence exactly right, then 50 million could (small percentage) win it, especially in a year like this one. Then again, the odds that every pence gets spent exactly right approaches zero.

I'm actually concerned for him. This article sounds like a cry for help in a lot of ways.

If anyone knows the man, buy him a beer and introduce him to a girl. Introduce a ray of sunshine. The whole martyr thing usually ends poorly.

Do you not think this stems from the work culture they will have in India. They seem to have old fashioned values, people who are positive, try their best, work long hours etc are reqarded and well thought of. Whilst India is developing rapidly, there are still many impoverished areas where workers would be grateful for jobs etc and no doubt very easy to motivate.

Contrast this with overpaid footballers who drive flash cars and work for only a few hours per day...who's only motivation is a fatter contract elsewhere (I appreciate this is not representative of all footballers before anyone starts!)

Sooner they get their head around this concept the better.

And contrast to some of the cricket stars in India , which in many cases get paid alot more than most footballers.

Wake up to yourself.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. It was one of my concerns when they took over - that clash of cultures. In India very senior management are treated with the utmost respect and rarely questioned. Even the newspapers, if you read them, are generally polite and respectful. People work very hard, and there is a culture of improvement and education.

They clearly had no clue what it's like over here in football/press

The positive thinking business Mrs Desai talks of is a little over cooked. But not entirely incorrect. It does happen and there have been numerous examples of it being successful. I would say that mental attitude plays a huge part in football and any sport. Sadly it is not just connected with thinking positively. Often it occurs with a seige mentality. Us against the world galvanises players in all team sports. However, getting a united squad who are (for the most part) pulling in the same direction does work. If Kean can do this with the squad then he could land himself the job on a permanent basis. Coyle seems to have done it at Bolton and Holloway at Blackpool. I could not see Sam achieving any better with those respective squads. Strachan did it at Southampton. Jewell did it at Wigan. Coppell at reading etc.... It does work. In this respect Kean may prove to be a success.

However......

For me, in modern day football, managers are judged on more than results. They are judged on their ability to spend money. Too many good coaches have come unstuck in this domain. Peter Taylor is a great coach. He worked his way up to the Leicester job some years back and in the blink of an eye he undid all his good work by spending £5m on Ade Akinbiyi. No manager is perfect in this regard. Every last one of them has made mistakes in the transfer market. But i hope the owners are aware of this.

Another point which concerns me is an interview he gave some months back. Sadly i cannot find this now. But he mentioned about being a link between the manager and the players. A confident, a friend etc... Going from this role to that of a boss could potentially be untenable before its even begun. In Matt Le Tissier's autobiography he spoke about Stuart Gray being appointed manager at Southampton. As an ex player and coach there was immediate difficulties in him commanding respect from his ex colleagues. I know Kean was not an ex player, but if he has been building relationships with the playing staff on a relatively informal basis then the transition to boss can be very difficult. At a new club where he comes in with undisputed authority it wouldn't pose a problem. But here, well, lets just say one or two of the players might try their luck with him. The alpha male thing and all that guff. In our current situation he needs the majority of the lads on side. If one or two decide to act up then it becomes harder to galvanise them.

From what we have heard Kean has good credentials. But i think, for the betterment of Rovers, we might just be best getting a new man in.

I've not really posted my personal views on this so far.

In my humble opinion Paul Ince was a cancer on Blackburn Rovers. Sam was the chemo. However, once the cancer has gone and things look to be better, would you continue with the treatment. After all, chemo is damaging to a system.

The short term and fickle memory of the press is very interesting. Over the past year, our style of play has taken so much abuse. I have no memory of ever taking so much stick off mates about Blackburn being boring and just plain awful. I've actually found it difficult to give free tickets to neutrals when I've had them. Venkys snap decision has turned Sam into a martyr and it is damaging to the reputation of our club. Sam needed to go, whether or not this was the right time is a different story. I believe that under Sam's reign we have been conditioned to thinking that we can only pick up points through playing in a certain way and we are little more than relegation fodder. We are better in depth than a good number of teams in this league and from what I've heard about our caretaker manager, I expect to see that on the pitch.

As for Venkys, I risk annoying my contact here but they need to hire an English PR representative through Kentaro and have far less contact with the press. Because of their odd, contradicting comments, the neutral fan is now dreaming of our relegation. This doesn't matter but as a Rovers' fan you cannot help feeling terrified about the future.

The most important thing is that we support the team on Saturday. When the whole world is seemingly against us, we need to stand together and push the team to pick up points on the field.

Good PR can be effective in damage limitation but we are well beyond that phase now. Being 5,000 miles away I just don't think Mrs D really understands the meltdown situation going on in terms of PR and actual damage to the club. If they were a public company listed in the UK, the shareholders would be questioning their competency unfortunately being a private company in India, they have to listen to no-one.

I was urging they got their PR act together when they gave all those interviews in India immediately after the acquisition.

My reading of this is that Kentaro has decided the best way to keep their hands on the Venky's money is to advise Mrs D to stay in her Pune cocoon.

She is far too bright a person not to make fundamental changes if she saw how badly Kentaro's advice is damaging the Venky's brand outside India. Even in India there are now people saying they are ashamed that the first Indian owners of a PL club are proving so disastrous and that must be damaging the Venky's brand in their domestic market.

I've not really posted before. But am Rovers Supporter for 20 years. I think Sam did a good job in pulling us out of the muck and stabilizing us. I think Pedersen, EH Diouf, Robinson and Roberts have regained confidence and give us a solid core if experience. Nelsen too playing better. But sooner or later time to move on. Venkys are talking too much. But give Steve Kean a chance. Not such great thing when 4 of our best hence first team eleven are centre backs. You add Goulon and help!!!! So move forward with pace of Olsson, Hoillet, Mame Diouf, maybe Kalinic will click ( if he can stay on his feet). Five of us will be at Ewood on Sat v Wham. Good that JW among us and stabilising. All come and support the boys!

Well said RM

This has been a calamity of a week for our beloved BRFC but hopefully we will get a result on saturday and witness a style of play in getting that result that will put a smile on our faces.

Not sure where you are from rovermagic but check the weather for tomorrow, it aint looking too good.

One Love BRFC

This is not a PR job, it is a total screw up.

In Mrs D's wise words from her father, they have got 10 out of 10 wrong.

Was it not "9 or 10"? Not much of a difference, I know.

It was that figure that made me guess the reason on another thread - that only N'Zonzi will have increased in value (so he could perhaps be the one Venky's consider to be a good signing).

I can fully understand why they don't want to invest in players who will depreciate in value.

Stuart Pearce a name people on here quickly mentioned. Is young, hasnt had a job in the PL for years now, so would be willing to work under powers that be seemingly, and is closely tied to Kentaro.

Would having a knowledge of the U21 teams throughout the world be an advantage with resale value of signings in mind?

Sorry, but this does not translate to Sams' reign whatsoever. Last season we finished 20 points from the top 4 and 20 points from relegation. Sam had us as much more than relegation fodder and had the results to prove it. Last season was about establishing mid table stability and this season we could have pushed on and got good results against the likes of Everton, Villa and got a good result at St James'. Had we beaten Bolton we wouldve been up into 6th and although we got undone by two shocking bits of defending, before the sending off we were playing well enough to win that game and were playing the better football.

We have a threadbare midfield, one striker who is talented but I still suspect might not have the raw attributes to succeed in this league (though Sam hasnt been making the best use of him) and a decent defence/goalkeeper. Some of Sam's signings have been questionable but he's had very little to spend. He spent £6 million on Kalinic, yet if you look at all the strikers who've been signed in that price bracket over the last 5 years or so I can guarantee you'll find many more failures than successes.

Sam would have got us up into the top half again this season, especially with the likes of Villa slipping away. If we're very, very lucky someone who has never managed before will somehow miracously replicate the good results of his experienced predecessor, all whilst playing attractive football with a side devoid of pace and creativity.

Somehow, I can't see it working out that way.
