Lest we forget.

Mrs D in the Pune Mirror on Tuesday. [A DECENT local paper, by the looks]

We had thought about Maradona as a coach after we took over. Talks were at the initial stage then but there is no development on that front yet. For now the current coach will be the manager till the end of the season and there is no question of signing anyone for such a short time.

Still, if you can't see a story, you can't see a story.

Past your bedtime, son.

Check Mrs D's Maradona quotes.

Check where the Venky's tale came out first.

Check where the Kentaro link came out first.

And come out of the closet.

Very grown up response, well done to you.

You need to wind your neck in and realise your opinions are no more or less valid than anyone else's on here.

Yes, of course you have some contacts, but everything you say isn't gospel.

You constantly snipe at the LT, yet they are clearly more reliable than any of the red-tops.

Now they've had a bite back at you, you don't like it.

If you're happy to give it out, then you're a target to take it. Deal with it.

And of course I'm not Andy Cryer - Jeebus, I do a job that contributes to society.

If I was, I'd either openly admit it or post under a pseudonym.

If I've ever 'steadfastly ignored' any questions, it's because I come on here and post, go away for a while and post something else - I don't wait around constantly pressing F5 to check for responses to something I've written.

Steve McLaren really would be a decent shout, you know.

Never liked him, but he did a good job at Boro and his stock has been rising with some pretty impressive achievements abroad.

My heart still says Shearer, even though I know it probably wouldn't work.

He didn't just play for us, he's an absolute legend at the club and easily the best ever Rovers forward.

He has all of the personal and leadership skills (albeit so does Roy Keane and look how that's working out) and I really feel he could be in the Hughes mould.

As for big-name factor, I haven't bought a season ticket for years now as I get free tickets when I want to go and have other stuff to do on a Saturday, but I'd be seriously tempted to get one and start going to regular matches again if Shearer was named manager.

Also, loved the LT's little dig back at the tabloids (including ridiculing The Mirror for their non-story Maradona sensationalism) in tonight's edition - particularly after reading so many snidey comments from certain people on here. The LT have been first with all of the actual not-made-up news, the interviews with real stakeholders and, most importantly, the truth on the situation :tu:

I would'nt believe a word that comes out of the new owners mouths anyway regardless of who reports it, they dont know their ass from their elbow where as footballing matters are concerned, and neither do their advisors if this weeks shaningans are anything to go by.

Holloway adds to the chorus of managers that think Venkys have no clue. http://www.football365.co.za/story/0,22162,8692_6590674,00.html

Too bad. I wouldn't have minded seeing him with the Rovers job.

I'd rather see Coyle in the job, for me Coyle has proved he can manage at the highest level. Holloway hasn't yet managed half a season, impressive though he's been.

Coyle would be good. As an added bonus, I read somewhere that he is represented by Kentaro/SEM, though I don't know if this is true. This may improve the prospects that he comes to the Rovers someday, if it is.

Holloway apparently doesn't have an agent. Which I think is a big plus. Not only is there one less person stirring the pot, but it indicates that he is confident enough in his own abilities that he doesn't need an over priced agent to tell him what the document means or what he should say in negotiations.

Given Venkys comments I reckon we can immediatly remove the likes of Jol, Pardew, Houghton etc from the list.

They seem too have very limited knowledge of football and want too change the style of our football although doubt they realise how much it will cost..

My bets would be on someone daft, dont shoot me for it but I would not be suprised at a more Klinsman, Maradona, Mancini, Shearer, Beckham, Zola type... etc..

Anyone know who kentaro have on their books bar the current favourite.. the untried Kean?

Worrying that she can say so many totally contradictory things with such total conviction.

Everything points to Steve Kean being the long term manager unless he messes up. The huge fear of course is that "messing up" in the eyes of the Rao family could be the same as saying no to Jerome Anderson's cast-offs.

But he's a Kentaro man.. so he's unlikely to go against them is he?

McLaren maybe looking for a job shortly. 14th in the league with Wolfsburg and the likes of Dzeko certainly not what I would call great. Pity he'd done really well at Twente but perhaps he's cut from the cloth we need after all. But given our owners actions he'd fit right in being the wally with the brolly.

In theory, Kentaro WORKS for the clients, so they should keep their clients happy. Unless there is something more sinister in their relationships.

There was a time when we were appointing Big Sam that if we'd have gone for McClaren, I'd have packed football in. However, he did a good job at Twente and an ok job at Boro. Even allowing for my fickleness, our muppet owners could appoint someone worse.

You mean Paul Ince??

Wally with a brolly? hopefully never!!

Listening to Radio lancs on the way home from the match I heard an interview with Shearer who basically ruled himself out of the job, he said "whoever Rovers employ as a manager will have a really tough job and since they want an experienced manager it wont be me"

I thought we (or Jerome Anderson should I say) want someone "younger and energetic".

They also said English and experienced in the prem.

Well he did'nt sound enthusiastic about the job anyway and who would be in all honesty, Jol ruled himself out, Hughton, Holloway and now Shearer, the longer we leave this the harder its going to be to appoint someone of quality.

Whoops, younger and energetic?? Thats age discrimination ;)

To be honest, if you were an experienced manager, would you work for Mrs D??

Not in a million years.
