[Archived] New Rovers Boss

Recommended Posts

We should all know by now that Alan Shearer is only interested in Alan Shearer.

Thanks Al for 4 superb years but let's now move on - accept that we are no longer 'big enough' for him.

Who in their right mind is going to come and manage Rovers if they have one hand tied behind their back ?

We have two options - firstly, that Venkys start listening to John Williams, eat a huge dose of humble pie and reappoint Sam. Or, appoint a hungry, up and coming and somewhat proven young manager - Lambert @ Norwich is the standout candidate.

We have got no chance of getting MO'N. will wanted alot of transfer cash. Jol, Sven and Hollway has already said not interested in Job. Curbishley won't come up North.

My choice would either be Roberto Di Matteo, Zola or Bilic.

But I can see Steve McClaren being appoint if he is sacked or us waiting for Staurt Pearce till the summer!

Would add Gus Poyet in there. He's a risk of course but we just disposed of safety.

What about Jurgen Klopp of Dortmund. 9 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. But why would he want to come to rovers?

Still can't believe that we have sacked a manager AND don't have a clue who to replace him with. This is joke!

Why don't they start talking to John Williams and let him start the club in the proper way it should be run.

You know that, I know that, each sensible football person knows that, but the chicken farmer and the family know best!! silly ***

who is going to manage a club with the owners telling him who to buy, no top manager will do that!!

Should have NEVER been sacked!

Wait So Sam should have had a job for life at Rovers?

He did very well to keep us up and would most likely have kept us treading water but couldn't see him taking us further which Venkeys (naively) expect.

What do you mean? That is exactly what we have done, do you see another manager walking in here anytime soon?

Nope. think Kean is caretaker manager till the end of the season, unless we are close to the bottom 3. Or till Venkys find a manager they wanted to take over. Great!

TCO, why sack Big Sam and don't have a very good replacement waiting?

also didn't Big Sam wanted to sign Bentley, Adam, Keane and C.Cole. That would have made us alot better and we could have been challenging for Europe with a couple of good signings.

Who are we going to sign now? we don't have a manager in Charge!

just from his few interviews and the way he comes across and how he carries himself kean just looks for all the world a number 2, for the life of me could not see him being the manager like phealan at manure just listen to him talk and i'm thinking......n'ah not happening

still holloway for me with owners and anderson keeping they're noses out of the managers business only way anyone will come (anyone we'd want)

Chaddy - I don't think Sam should have been sacked at the moment for sure, I would have liked him replaced in the coming summer but they way Venkys have gone about it makes it really hard to attract anyone decent.

I wonder if Dave Jones being the Rovers front runner is linked to Venkys' purported interest in Chopra. I understand Venkys wanting Chopra for marketing purposes in India, but I suspect that he is not the way forward. And Chopra's request to be allowed to play for the Indian national team is a step toward greater marketability in the subcontinent.

I hope that Niko's article is close on the mark. Its reassuring, to a degree. On the other hand, the Rao brothers and Ms. Desai deciding to show case the Rovers to Indian high society while we're playing away at ManU was not a good call and indicates a bit of over expectation on their part.

no i don't , which is why it was ludicrous to get rid of allardyce without a replacement waiting in the wings

I thought this was tosh today when someone told me, we are waiting for a manger in the Prem who is on the verge of being sacked.

Just couldn't think of a possible.

Hughes

it of course would mean total control of all dealings, then again maybe he would be given that.

Sam to Foolham ;)

Not a frigging chance he would get control, if our owners had brains he might stand a chance but he would'nt come within 50 miles with these owners.

Thanks for the link though, it cheered me up for a bit.

Bless you Nicko but if I hear one more chicken pun in a national paper I think I'm gonna puke!

Do you hear about Delia cooking up a storm anymore or Gold and Sullivan being called c... Oh right!! Fair enough!

Seriously though enough is enough surely. Far too easy!

I'm not sure nicko comes up with the headlines, just the stories ??? If he is, well yep he needs to give it a rest. I think even the most childish members on clarets-mad gave up on the rubbish chicken puns months ago.

I would love Hughes back. Especially if he was given some money to spend. Perhaps he sees us as a chapter in his life he has closed but I am sure the vast majority of people here would welcome him back in a heartbeat.

I am sure some would grumble about O'Neil too but realistically if the owners want 5th-7th him and Hughes would be the best two options to achieve that who MIGHT come.

The kentaro stuff and whats being muted as going on behind the scenes would probably put both of though. Have to stay hopeful and positive though....

To be perfectly honest I cannot see an established Premier League manager i.e Hughes ,O neil , Jol coming any where near Ewood Park ...The fact that Dave Jones , the Cardiff City manager is one of the favourites , says it all ...

The events of the last week and yes I was there yesterday ,have been nothing short of disgraceful and I include the performance yesterday or lack of it...

Relegation is looming large , with a set of average players , who could play the Allardyce system ..It wasn't pretty but it was effective..

Venkys are completely naive , in the footballing sense and very badly advised, no manager worth his salt , would come and work for an organisation like that !!

The new manager ???? My gut feeling is Mr Kean , it is his to lose my default ..The lack of real credible candidates interested in the job will see to that .

I suspect , the real damage to BRFC was done 3 years when the Walker trust didnt back Mark Hughes in the transfer market !!! At least in those days we had some FOOTBALLERS ...
