m1st Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Rafa? I'm trying not to come up with a link between chicken and a "fat Spanish Waiter"!

Commondore Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Champion's League - lucky Can't comment on the La Liga titles, don't know anything about Spanish football FA Cup - not teh glittering prize it once was. World Club Championship - who were they playing, some congolese team? Spends money like water on a procession of gash footballers, then demands some more money. Not very good at all. Bloody hell. That's just inane.
gumboots Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Stuart Pearce down to 9/1 on betfair Surely the apppointment of Pearce would be as bad a move as any they've so far made. He's tactically inept and his man management skills don't strike me as being the best either. I loved him as a player, loved the passion and enthusiasm for the game, but you need a lot more than that to be a winning manager, and we need wins.
John Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Don't rate Pearce either - so many average managers out there - depends exactly what we are aiming for I guess.

However, I suspect we'll be getting someone even worse.
G Somerset Rover Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I 100% want an experienced Premier League boss, but I'd still take the likes of Lambert over Steve Kean.
Roost Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Yeh, thats my worry too. As there was no immediate replacement for Allardyce, the subsequent 'failure' of Steve Kean to change the style of play on saturday has perhaps left the new owners scrambling for a manager now. God I hope not - reading 99% of the names on the betting for the new manager makes me feel sick.
John Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Pearce is not good enough. However, I suspect we'll be getting someone even worse. I share the same fears... God I hope not - reading 99% of the names on the betting for the new manager makes me feel sick. Same - apart from the ones we would obviously never get the list is very cringe worthy. By the way, sticking to my earlier suggestion, reckon we want Sven.
farhanology Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 what does the MB think of Rijkaard? Also, was trawling the net when I found out that Tugay is the assistant of G. Hagi at Galatasaray, contract signed about two months ago.

Hagi at Galatasaray, contract signed about two months ago. Rijkaard has only been successful at Barca and with the players he had it was hardly a hard job. He was relegated with Sparta and sacked swiftly from Gala. I have a feeling that he's not all he's cracked up to be as a manager.

Tugay? - heart says yes - head being scratched!! God I hate all this uncertainty
Bobby G Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 If things will become clear in 2 days, then it could only mean an official statement confirming Steve Kean manager for the rest of the season.
John Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Jones and Pearce backed for Blackburn job If things will become clear in 2 days, then it could only mean an official statement confirming Steve Kean manager for the rest of the season. Probably agree with that, would be a sensible course of action - anything else could provoke yet more chaos.
Bobby G Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I actually think hiring a proven manager from the OUTSIDE is one way to quell this situation and at least get a fresh start on the pitch. Biggest mistake we could make is give Kean the job full time right now. I think the players need a fresh start.

If there was someone decent out there I would probably be for a permanenent appointment. Giving Kean the job until the end of the season is risky but provides little bit of stability.

John Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Manager required asap and one with pedigree. Who though? Cannot see anyone decent out there, I have no qualms with a long-term appointment.
Hughesy Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Who though? Cannot see anyone decent out there, I have no qualms with a long-term appointment. Dont like his personality - but O'Neill is by far the best out there available
philipl Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Dont like his personality - but O'Neill is by far the best out there available Hoof ball to hoof ball! At least he might keep us up though.
Sandiway Blue Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Dont like his personality - but O'Neill is by far the best out there available To be honest we might as well have kept Sam rather than O`Neil.Very overrated in my view and got found out at Villa.

Majiball Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Who though? Cannot see anyone decent out there, I have no qualms with a long-term appointment. And there in beggars the question. Not one of the mentioned names really stands out or sounds better than what we had. Jol has basically said no and he was about the best name linked. I do like the look of Petrescu he's had success at every club he's coached at to date, but I wouldn't bring in a relatively inexperienced manager mid-season. Grayson at leeds is surely worth a look as well. No-one has yet suggested Ottmar Hitzfeld he is 61 but perhaps he could be persuaded from Switzerland if there really is some cash to play with. Maybe the FA would let Capello go on the cheap? . Carlos Queiroz? Its the wrong time of the year to be doing this mid season changes are never the best, which just beggars belief that we find ourselves in this predicament.
Lytham Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Hands up all those who think Rovers will get someone better suited or even as well suited to the situation as Sam Allardyce. *keeps hands in pockets*
