jim mk2 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Hands up all those who think Rovers will get someone better suited or even as well suited to the situation as Sam Allardyce. *keeps hands in pockets* Not me.

brian_gallagher85 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 OK, things will become very apparent over the next couple of days. I am going totally dark on this one until morning. And that means no PMs too. Jesus? If Rafa becomes Rovers manager I think I'd shoot myself!
Stuart Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I've read every post on this darned thread and the only thing clear to me is that there is not a single name we could be linked with (and realistically likely to come) that would unite the fans. Venky's sacking of Sam appears simply an exercise in trying to save face. Well in this case they've cut off their own noses. They need to learn about the nature of football in England, and fast. Every team will lose games and fickle fans will call for a manager's head and happily eat humble pie later. This is even more polarised when it comes to fans from the North West. They should not have sacked Sam at this stage - unless they had their own man lined up - that much is clear, but if they end up giving the job to Kean, we all have to suck it up and support him and the team.
The Rover of Finland Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Jesus? If Rafa becomes Rovers manager I think I'd shoot myself! Would you save me a bullet too?
Amo Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Hoof ball to hoof ball! At least he might keep us up though. Similar but not the same kind of football. O'Neill placed a lot of focus on direct, counter-attacking football, not the percentages game. Maybe this way we'd get Hoilett & Olsson in the same team? O'Neill can work very well on a budget, however, he did leave Villa over a transfer dispute. Would he fancy working for Venky's?
Iceman Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 still think Ray Wilkins could be manager, or at least a number 2 to Martin O Neil. Juande Ramos and Ronald Koeman could also be options. The one i would like is Rijkaard, will no doiubt play good football
Bobby G Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I wouldnt mind Rijkaard either. But I think a huge investment is needed if we are to turn on the style and win too. It will also take time. The current squad isnt the most skillful, creative, or breathtaking.

Under O'Neil Olsson and Hoilett may be utilised in the mould that Young and Milner were at Villa. Out and out wingers mixed in with some hoof until we get a decent cenre mid may result in positive results and football.

No is the short answer. If you can't work under Lerner who seemed to be a model football chairman, there is no chance you can work under the Kentaro-Venkeys (probably in that order) "leadership". Shame as think he's one of the few decent candidates out there. Sam is not the messiah, and I think what people are saying is that without Sam or another manager of similar or better quality we're in deep doggy do. And given we don't look like appointing anyone at the moment, much less a manager of equal or greater calibre of Sam, then sacking him was the stupidest move of the whole sorry saga.
SergioPeter89 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 http://yfrog.com/h0amvulj Rafa Benitez daughter is moving back to Liverpool. Can this mean that Fat Spanish Waitor is coming back to England? Can he be the man that the chicken farmers want to lead Rovers?
Gav Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 The worry is we’re not being linked to the potentially good managers out there, which does indicate that Kean is going to be given the job. Not ideal, I’m sure most will agree.
Iceman Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 so let me get this right, Sam was sacked because of his style of play? They Venkys want to see good football, but were against Sam signing the likes of Keane, Bentley and Nzogbia? They instead want Geovanni and Kris Boyd! am i missing something here, or do they just prefer the cheap options. Sam had the experience, the stability under Sam was there, and we knew what we would get, in terms of style and results. Now the players are asking questions at a crucial time, the fans want to protest, and tbh, we are in a crisis despite what anybody says. Crisis might seem a strong word, but even under the trust, we knew rubbish like this would not happen. Mrs Desai must come forward and talk to the fans directly, not sit in India and give varying signals and confuse all connected with this club.
Bobby G Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Maybe they dont have that much money. Has anyone ever thought of that? Its not like they ever said otherwise.
chaddyrovers Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 OK, things will become very apparent over the next couple of days. I am going totally dark on this one until morning. And that means no PMs too. Could this be that a new manager will be appoint. Could have come from today meeting at Ewood Park. Wonder if Venky's watch Saturday game and thought this isn't good and that the game was afwul! And gone and get a manager to come in this week and start looking at what players will come in January. I wouldn't be surprise if we appoint David O'Leary as manager. At Leeds he bought good youth players in and develop them, plus players from the youth side. Just a thought BECAUSE the owners have said that the want to follow the Arsenal model of bringing in young players and develop from the Youth side at Rovers and players bought.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Could this be the possible development that Nicko hinted at? 1952: Other football news just in, courtesy of AP: Diego Maradona says he should be the new coach of Boca Juniors and has criticised the club for being on the verge of appointing Julio Cesar Falcioni to the job. If Maradona has lost out on the Boca Juniors job might he have decided to look elsewhere...
John Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 What's the bets Venky's do something strange here?
Iceman Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 O Leary would be awful, but in saying that, i hope the owners have come to their senses and will appoint a new manager before January. The Gull Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 BRFCS favourite former member Vinjay is in Twitter and unfortunately a couple of Rovers I follow keep letting me know what he's up to. I try not to react but he's gone too far as he, amongst other things has championed Andy Gray to become our manager, I assume with Richard Keys as number two. He also thinks Nelsen should be sacked for his words about the owners who he thinks are wonderful! I despair and have bitten letting him know my thoughts of him. He actually thinks Gray would be a very good manager!

Majiball Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 What's the bets Venky's do something strange here? That'll make a nice change. I'm more worried that since Mrs D's brother became an expert in just a few weeks, perhaps in a few more he might fancy the job.
Backroom Tom Posted December 20, 2010 Backroom Posted December 20, 2010 You laugh Chaddy but a couple of days ago you were championing Shearer for the job and he doesn't exactly seem a bastion of footballing knowledge. Come on Fulham sack sparky already and then he can come back and bring bentley and Bellamy as well. Ok time to wake up

Surely Maji you mean her sons who is Vinjay He's two butties short of a picnic, once a member on here!!
