Brownie Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Not a massive loss, but El Hadji said last night to a good friend of mine that he is gutted about the whole thing and wants out asap
Roverall Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Well this takes the bloody biscuit doesn't it? We have been sold down the river something horrible by the Walker Trust. I don't think even the most pessimistic of us could have foreseen how spectactulary and swiftly sour this would turn out to be. John Williams is a man of principle - and I would not think it unprincipled to walk away when your hands have been tied, and you are essentially getting a ringside seat to watch all your hard work flittered away to nothing. Depserately sad.
philipl Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Not a massive loss, but El Hadji said last night to a good friend of mine that he is gutted about the whole thing and wants out asap He'll need managing in that mood- the guy can poison the atmosphere. Hmm, we could have had Lee Richardson as boss now.
T4E Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I've just had quite a few quid on Steve Kean at 4/1 on Betfair. If I read it right, he only needs to be in charge for the next 9 games for it to pay out. Seems quite likely now. Might as well try to get something out of this.
Teacup Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I really thought this takeover would make us more appealing to managers/players of a higher calibre. Any player or manager looking at us now thinking; "This could work out really good for me"... They would have to be completely stupid and delusional. So I totally believe the rumours about Steve Keane possibly becoming our new permanent manager. I doubt anyone else is interested, if they are, they are probably asking for so much money that Keane looks a bargain.

This is the whole point, every day I come on here and read this name that name, you guys must be on crack if you think any decent manager is going to come here with what the owners have already said. The only people who are going to come are people desperate to try their hand at football management or established managers that want an easy payday, we have Keen who is already here and costs nothing to employ, he was the main option from day one at a guess, if you guys have'nt put your money on him by now you really must not like money.
Commondore Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Not a massive loss, but El Hadji said last night to a good friend of mine that he is gutted about the whole thing and wants out asap Wouldn't expect anything less from someone who's just lost his one meal ticket: Sam Allardyce actually putting up with him and letting him play.
tony gale's mic Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Wouldn't expect anything less from someone who's just lost his one meal ticket: Sam Allardyce actually putting up with him and letting him play. He was arguably our best player at the start of this season and helped keep us up the season Allardyce saved us from the drop. Granted he was shocking last season for the most part but still justified his fairly minimal transfer fee.
Teacup Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I think that there is a lot not being said about the relationship between Venkys and Kentaro. It is either a good relationship, or it is falling apart. The problem is, our next manager, who it will be.. I think is very closely knitted to our future involvement with Kentaro, whether or not we will be.
John Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 So the SEM man for manager, would you believe it...
farhanology Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Ironic some of you who mercilessly slated Venkys because they disrupted 'continuity' now oppose Kean, who has done nothing wrong yet. His appointment is probably the best way to maintain continuity without Big Sam at the helm (although I suspect the appointment of Kean is perhaps a kneejerk reaction by Venkys due to massive unfounded hysteria by the fans). Hypocrites.
Exiled_Rover Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 You have got the players coming in on Christmas Day for training and three league games in seven days coming up so the brand new manager when the players are cheesed off with the old one going is to be whisked off to India. These guys are clueless. They have a game on Boxing Day. Of course they're going to train on Christmas Day. If they don't like it they can hand back their ridiculous pay cheques at the door on the way out.
Miker Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Ironic some of you who mercilessly slated Venkys because they disrupted 'continuity' now oppose Kean, who has done nothing wrong yet. His appointment is probably the best way to maintain continuity without Big Sam at the helm (although I suspect the appointment of Kean is perhaps a kneejerk reaction by Venkys due to massive unfounded hysteria by the fans). Hypocrites. Rubbish. Either you keep Sam and keep the stability in the team, or you sack him and change things around and go in the "direction" they want to go. You can't just do a half-assed job all round. No one was really opposed to Kean when it was announced he would take over, but his first game in charge was far from promising. A disjointed performance at home against the worst team in the league. His comments in the interview were just a bit bizarre ("the injuries meant we were left without a holding midfielder for the rest of the game"). He'll have a chance to prove himself still, but Venky's need to justify sacking an experienced with manager with a decent pulling power for good players with someone unknown, halfway through the season in a good position. Venky's are in the business of making decisions and that's how they should be charged. Their reason for sacking Sam was because they didn't trust him with their money, so now let's see them bring in the right manager and the right players.
Bobby G Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Its just a coincidence John. We are after the best men, nothing to do with the agents! What an anti-climax. They should write a book. Mistake after mistake.

If they don't like it they can hand back their ridiculous pay cheques at the door on the way out. The point I am making is Kean will be not with them if Nixon is correct- he will be in India!
Manchester Blue Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Maybe they were heartened by such a small amount of protest on Saturday and confident they can do whatever they feel now with little opposition?
philipl Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Maybe after nicko and Mrs D have said different things we are still unsure.
brian_gallagher85 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 T4E has hit the nail on the head as ever. This lot are appearing more clueless by the day and it's not just because of what is printed about them in the papers, they've not given one interview that hasn't been completely different to what the previous one has said. I honestly think I'd trust what the Irish government says next before this lot! Under the current regime I can't see me renewing my Season Ticket next season and I don't think I'm alone in that.
Roost Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I know its pantomime season, but this is taking the p*ss
roversmum Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 And he has got to go to Pune when we have a game at Ewood on Boxing Day? This is very worrying. The game is an important one, taking the Manager away from preparations for this match is unbelievable. Especially that, given the weather conditions, he could be marooned there. Furthermore Kean saying £5m is enough is going to disillusion them even further, £5m in January will get us nowhere. The paper also said he didn't know if the £5m was for transfers or transfers plus wages. Transfers plus wages isn't going to get us very far.
Bobby G Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 It would be good if nicko clarifies his story when it stacks up against the words of Mrs. D which were also from yesterday.

Transfers plus wages isn't going to get us very far. The LET is reporting that there is going to be a lot more than 5 million. It says he is going to have a bumper transfer kitty at his disposal.
broadsword Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Giving a complete novice a bumper transfer budget, when we don't knwo how long he'll be in the job for? MADNESS.
