broadsword Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I fail to see how this can be spun positively. We have a caretaker manager who hasn't been a number 1 before, no new faces recruited to help him, just academy staff etc promoted. And instead of letting him get on with the job, he now has to fly off to India to negotiate a budget. Venky's now don't know according to you whether to give him enough cash to sort things out, or whether to wait until the have a more experienced man in charge. they've painted themselves into a corner here, and I wonder if they ever had any sort of long-term plan. It's amateur night.

AggyBlue Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 ..if he doesn't get the right ones you all might be in for a surprise. Nothing would surprise us anymore with these jokers
Amo Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Whatever happened to web conferencing? Or a good old-fashioned phonecall?
nicko Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 What do you make of mrs desai's comments in the local paper Alan? Do they differ from what is in the mirror today. Not read both articles so I don't know what's really been said. OK, I have the drift of what she said now... Sounds about right. The Indians want to run with Kean, but the penny is also dropping that they need to bring some sort of calm to the whole scene and make moves for players more easy to achieve in January. I believe he will get the job for the season - so the 'permanent' search does go on. Obviously if he does well he gets to keep it. I take it Kean will accept that arrangement. But he is no soft mark - if he thinks he is not being backed he will certainly let people know. Don't get the wrong idea about this guy. He is no-one's fool.
broadsword Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I am never quite sure what to make of Mrs D's comments. I thought she was going to give it a rest after last week's disastrous mix-ups. Steve Kean wants the answers everyone else wants...if he doesn't get the right ones you all might be in for a surprise. Bloody hell, if he walks then we have serious problems. Mind you, he thinks we can get to fifth by spending £5 mill, so he's obviously easily pelased.
nicko Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Whatever happened to web conferencing? Or a good old-fashioned phonecall? Surely the significance of bringing the 'manager' to their HQ is very obvious. I don't know about you, but if I was going to go into a major job I would prefer to look at my employer in the eye, ask the right questions, answer the right questions...and then decide if I wanted it. This isn't really something you do in a casual chat on a crackly line. I just hope they can actually get together as scheduled. Just amazed that our man Phil has not blamed Venky's or Jerome Anderson for the weather yet.
Kelbo Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Steve Kean is trying to get to India - but that will come down to catching a flight. The meeting with the club's main players is there. Some of the propaganda spouted out - from one direction in particular - really is quite pathetic. You need to have a look at yourself. I understand the owners now realise it would be a mistake to have a caretaker in charge during the window. The budget will really depend on the need, which is a point I think I have made from the off. Who would be the main players, JW? For me the main players at the football club are the ones who are expected to get the three points on a match day, however, I understand what you mean, it seems strange when there is obviously a cost cutting excersise at Rovers, we have to travel all the way to India to meet the owner! I never recalled Abramovic having meetings in Moscow! And at Christmas too, Kean should be with his players!!
nicko Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Mind you, he thinks we can get to fifth by spending £5 mill, so he's obviously easily pelased. I don't think twisting the guy's answers does anybody any good. If he is asked about a mythical figure he is going to give a 'blank' answer...which is what he did. Would you rather he said 'we've got bundles, pal, let's go and get ripped off in the transfer market...?'
Kelbo Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Whatever happened to web conferencing? Or a good old-fashioned phonecall? Or even Skype or do they still use smoke signals in India

I never recalled Abramovic having meetings in Moscow! And at Christmas too, Kean should be with his players!! Steve Kean was due to be there on MONDAY which is six days from the next game. I don't know when he will get there...if at all. And who says there is 'cost cutting' going on? I thought the Trustees had left. This is a key decision. These people are entitled to ask the next manager to come and see them and meet them properly. By all accounts, despite the borderline comments around here, they like to behave in a business-like manner.
Olveres Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I take it Kean's had all the necessary jabs for India then?
nicko Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I take it Kean's had all the necessary jabs for India then? He comes from Cumbernauld...there's nothing over there going to scare him.
tony gale's mic Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Or even Skype or do they still use smoke signals in India Between your comments about women "still getting married at 12" in India, and this, I suggest you keep your pathetic, bigoted views to yourself. The vast majority of the fans on here haven't let their comments against the shambolic antics of Venky's slide into comments like this and even the usual suspects have surprisingly kept mum. It's a shame there's always one tosser to let the side down.

The budget will really depend on the need, which is a point I think I have made from the off. Nicko, probably being a bit thick here. Are you intimating that the owners realise having a caretaker in charge during the transfer window is a mistake, so they are going to make the caretaker the manager - or are they trying to get in a new man pronto? Surely appointing Keen as manager till the summer is pointless, he will be viewed by the media, players and fans (in fact everyone except Venkys) as a caretaker manager.

The fact is they do marry at 12 in India, I have a number of friends who are Indian and its people like yourself who create racism in this country, they have no problem with 'smoke signals' which, when going for a meal and ask the time, they reply, we will send you a smoke signal, get a grip, bloody PC brigade. If it offends you, I do apologise, but this is why comedy and variety has disappeared off Television, people are afraid of upsetting people of other races, normally they are the PC brigade who have ruined Britain!

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The owners now realise that they need to have a 'manager' in place in January to help in the transfer market. I understand that they see Kean as that manager but want to see him face-to-face and go through all of the areas that need sorting - staff, signings, etc. The length of the stay is to be determined. I believe it is likely to be for the season and then reviewed. If Kean is happy with that - and what he hears - then I think it will be boxed off. And in breaking news... Kean has managed to land in India. So we should know a lot more soon.

The legal age of marriage is 18 in India. A quick internet search shows the average marriage age for women in India is 22. The south of India, particularly Bangalore, is world renowned as a massive IT development hub. I suggest you learn about the world a bit more because the only people who find jokes like yours funny are the terminally ignorant and retarded.
nicko Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I imagine this explains why Diego Maradona wasn't willing to say 'yes' when he got that call... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/856265?cc=5739 Just loving those quotes.
Blue blood Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Surely misconstrued comments? Caretaker manager Steve Kean believes he can take Blackburn into the top five by spending just £5million. Very worrying, especially the last line: "Can we finish in the top five only spending £5million? It is fair comment if everyone is fit. That has slightly changed because we have a few injuries." So if we had all our players fit and spent £5 million we could finish 5th? Madness. And the guy says he isn't a yes man. Not sure this whole wait till the end of the season for a perminent manager malarky is going to do us any favours at all, same problems just on a longer scale. Am no business man but I'm fairly confident that video conferencing and the like are of high quality these days, and would certainly make sense for Kean to be with the players. Maybe it's easy to see everything in a negative light at the moment because it seems to be amature hour but even so, none of the moves from the club seem to bode well for how things are and will be run.
Bobby G Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 4 days left in between our next game, and the manager misses at least two days of training (today & arguably tomorrow). And some people question why the players are all over the place.

The actual terminolgy is, if marriage is under the age of 18, it can be rescinded, I can prove my point but this is a football messageboard! end of conversation.

I understand that they see Kean as that manager but want to see him face-to-face and go through all of the areas that need sorting - staff, signings, etc. Thanks for the clarification. They are going to have to give him a massive endorsement and clarify that any future apppointment will be in a Director of football role. Anything else will just undermine his already tenuous position with playing staff.
Olveres Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 This is turning into an episode of No Likey No Lighty!!!! What Venkys should do is this..... Get 30 candidates for the manager's job into the studio and get Paddy McGuinnes to front it all whilst they come down and go through three stages whereby they lay out their short, mid and long term ideas for the future of the club. They could adorn the studio with Venkys logos ensuring their brand gets maximum exposure. I wonder if all 30 lights would be out after the first round. Be funny as, if nothing else.... winner gets to fly to Fernando's in Goa for a few days to discuss matters....
