Not aimed at you guys specifically, but the reaction to this story is typical of the negative nature of the majority of the messageboard. What Kean said was perfectly reasonable, it doesnt mean that he thinks it's true, but he is about to embark on a January spending spree and wants to play things down. It is the most responsible reaction to the question he was asked.

Why is it that so many of our fans have no problem reading between the lines when there is a negative subtext to be uncovered, but when it comes to seeing the positive logic behind a statement from the club, it's face value all the way.

There is balance to be found in everything. I think many of us would be able to relax a bit more if we made more of an effort to find it.

Good post T4E.

Hey EIT, I notice that there are quite a few positive comments below the latest LT article - it's not all doom and gloom when you wander away from this board.

His got all the badges, fluent in three languages, had worked as assistant in Spain and England, first team coach at Blackburn for 18 months, so until a new manager can be found he has got the job. Surely common sense as you don't want to rush into hiring someone. If he does well he gets the job, if not we get someone else.

Badges - Whooopee, great thats fine....we'll surely be safe from relegation then cos he's got all his badges

Fluent in 3 languages - So what?

Assistant in Spain and England eh? We've really landed on our feet after Sam haven't we...

This is a disaster and in the end we're gonna pay for all this...maybe we'll escape this season, but not next.

How Sion do you think you will pick up the outcome of the meeting Nicko ? ie how much to spend etc

I have a fair idea about how much there is to spend if needed.

But the main point of the meeting has to be sorting out the status of the manager.

No white smoke above Venky's Towers on that yet.

It's pretty obvious to me that Sam was never going to be rovers manager once Ventaro/Venky's took control. Kean had to have been recommended by Ventaro before Sam was sacked, unless you believe the guff from Venky's, that they had been watching the youth team coach for three weeks and that is why they offered him the job [and much of that time they were actually back in India].

All part of a very dodgy plan.

My worry den is more that they saw a chance to get maximum publicity (as Olveres said on the other thread), make their mark on the club and save a good amount of cash all in one fell swoop.

I can't see how anything they've done so far constitutes any sort of "plan", or atleast not one based on footballing success.

I don't think they intended to get rid of him so soon though. The Old Trafford result did for him I reckon.

I have a feeling that the following may have happened..

Firstly we know that the Rao's know very little about football so would be very easily impressionable...

Bfs isnt doing so well..Bfs tries to convince Rao's that 5m isnt enough to get them a high table finish. He requests big name players eg, bentley, cruz, nzogbia and keane. Rao's dont want to spend so much and so would love for someone to tell them they dont need so much money. So Mr Kean who hears about this advises venkys that Bfs plays negative football doesnt look for wins in some games and that with a more positive style of play and 5m he could give rovers a 5th spot finish.

Venkys decide that kean is correct, hence the comments about having a good side but morale being low and that abit of money and motivation would mean a top finish. Lo and behold they then sack sam and put kean in charge. This also is why when they put kean in charge they speak very highly of him, saying hes hardworking blah blah blah and seem to love him.

This happens in all corporate environments, where management isnt too happy about someone and so someone below him goes and tells the management what they want to hear in order to get the job.

This would answer why kean made the laughable ludicrous claim that with a full squad and 5mill we could make 5th. This is what venkys wanted to hear, this what he told them and so this is what he had to also say to the media when they questioned him.

Its a stab in the dark, but i dont know it seems to make all the ludicrous pieces fit together. It answers why sam was sacked so suddenly without there being a replacement plan. The replacement plan was kean. It also answers why kean was chosen and why hes made the 5million 5th spot remark..

Point was that we have someone who can hold the fort for the time being that the players respect. I would never have sacked Sam at this time but now that he has I would rather we wait before making a huge decision. Kean is qualified, obviously bright as he can speak three languages and respected by his peers- i.e people who know football, deserves a chance.

It's a shame he has the charisma of a brussel sprout.

Honestly though, there is barely anything to him that qualifies him as a manager.

Presumably the "end game" is Venky's gets its recognition. There must be something in their plan, we spend X to buy Rovers and get Y in Z year's time.

Once they have what they want they may just dispose of us.

In any case, all this negativity is seriously hampering my Chi. We must think positively, Mr Steve is our guru, he's gone to India to meditate on a misty mountain top, when he returns, the players can stop doing press-up's and he will have divined the answer to how we get to fifth with hardly any cash. Watch out for him sat in the dugout ith his ankles behind his ears.

Everything is good, ommmmmmmmmmmmm, I'm just off to spin a prayer wheel, ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I would've thought Neil McDonald would've been more equipped to 'hold the fort' as it was. He might be very well qualified, but crucially he has never managed a team before. He might turn out to be belting at it, but equally he might be hopeless. And if he is hopeless then we are in big trouble. It was a risk that didn't particularly need taking.

I couldn't see it either, but now it's obvious to me. The reason we couldn't see it T4E, was that this is a road that no other English club that I know of, has gone down.

The obvious, standard plan would be for new owners to build the club into a side challenging at the top of the English league. Then the share value would reap long term rewards. Venky's know they can't do the first bit, they might make a little money from their shares, but not enough to justify the risks - and they know they haven't got the money to allow us to compete at the top of the league, hence why we got all the "we only need to finish 12th" kind of quotes at the outset. IMO, they have been shown a way to make profits by another group of people.

Let's be honest here, Venky's know jacksh1t about football and all they will be wanting to do, is use the brand for their own purposes, while at the same time they've been persuaded that they can make money from the venture. I have an idea how they'll do that, but I daren't post that for fear of any possible legal repurcussions for the site.

Rovers Christmas Party was held at Ewood on Sunday Night - that's the main reason Monday was a day off.

With Kean in Pune, who is left to take training this week? Iain Brunskill?

We sack an experienced & (relatively) successful manager and put a novice in charge. This makes no sense at all, especially as Rovers record of having coaches as managers isn't exactly great.

I'd have more faith in the management team if the word 'top 5 and £5m' were coming from the lips of Mark Hughes & Mark Bowen.

Why Rovers haven't tried to pinch Bowen & Eddie from Fulham is beyond me - the fans would have complete faith in them. Better still, bring Sparky back as well and give him full control.

A decent amount to spend and UEFA qualification next season would be a possibility.

Sparky is the man...to return and finish what he started.

BFS on SSN sounds bitter over his dismissal , alluding that someone within the club put the knife into him , do you believe that Nicko or is it just a bit of sour grapes?

I can understand why Sam is peeved.

However if he is going to make comments like that he should really name names.

It's pretty obvious that he is pointing at some of Venky's advisers. But he should be more specific.

I thought the dig at Kean was unfortunate. But that is his opinion.

If the owners didn't fancy Sam, they were not going to want his pal and long-term side-kick Neil McDonald to hang around.

Got say, if I was Venky's, I would be holding back on his pay-off until he explained those remarks in more detail...

Well the fact Kean is rovers manager is unbelieveable, I don't think that Sam comments were harsh, everyone is thinking it.

Obviously doesn't think that highly of Kean either, really suggested to me, Kean had little say.

I have a lot of respect for Sam.
