Fylde Coast Fan Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 The Walker family are the beneficiaries of the trust, that's the point of a trust. The actual trustees I'm not sure about, they're usually lawyers/advisors. The Walker children weren't interested in the football club and if they suddenly care now it's because they've sold up and want to head off any criticism that might come their way.

Stuart Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 From reading some comments, would say too many people are putting too much emphasis on the month of January. The January transfer window, which is regarded as a nightmare by basically all managers, will be our saviour? With everything that has gone on, the owners have made January important. We have needed investment in the playing staff for some time now and we now have even more injuries.. With Sam in charge and his attritional football it was possible to get by. Not any more I fear. On a side note, I'm dreading Sunday's match.
Helmshore blue Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I know people have been saying that betfair pay out after 10 games in charge for a new manager. Does anyone know how other bookies work it? I have had 20 on kean at 7/1 and done know if ill get paid out on it.
Majiball Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 So Kean till the end of the season, might as well have just kept Sam. I feel like the poor sod in Vegas who needs snake eyes.

Its been a long time since I've played craps (married with kids over the last 10 years tends to adversely effect my familiarity with games of chance), but isn't snake eyes a loser no matter when you throw it? Unless of course you are betting against the thrower.

Uxbridge rover Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Was there not something put in place that should the promises made by Venkeys not come to fruition then Blackburn Rovers could step in in some way. I may be completely wrong on this but I'm sure I read it somwhere.
Steve Moss Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I'll stick to poker from now on. It's been awhile, but I recall my best value for money was the quarter poker machine at the casino bar. Playing sensibly, I could drink for free (or close to it) all night long. Failing that, and if live tables are your thing, brush up on the rules and strategy of blackjack. Best odds to break even (or at least lose slower). Back on topic, Kean is the boss. He needs a fair chance. Let's give him a few games and see what the man is made of.
Clitherover Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Its been a long time since I've played craps Unlike Steve Kean, he'll be playing them till the end of the season.
LeftWinger Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 So Kean till the end of the season, might as well have just kept Sam. I was thinking about this. If I’d have bought the club – I would have been looking to replace Sam eventually. My aim would have been to let him have the job till the end of the season, and then find someone more suited to pushing the club upwards. The last thing I want to do, is give him money to spend in January, only to have to find more money from somewhere for a new man in summer. They have possibly made the right move, but gone about it in a very messy way and the PR has been a disaster. They could do with someone doing all the PR for them. If they’d have instantly come out with a statement clarifying exactly what was happening and why – then we might not have all been so concerned.

I have had 20 on kean at 7/1 and done know if ill get paid out on it. I would contact them to find out the policy. I thought that the statement on the website would be enough to trigger a payout, as he is the manager now.

If you are talking about pushing upwards, in relation to league position, why would you not want Sam? He has done it before for a start (at Bolton when they finished 8th 6th etc). This season, with the league being so tight, who knows where we could have ended up under Sam plus a couple of additions in January. You say give him money to spend in January but surely it is the similar situation with Kean?
nicko Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I really am sorry to disappoint the professional moaners and whiners out there...but. Just spent a bit of time with the new manager. Got to say he was outstanding. You may just have found a gem. It was as good a presser as I have seen this season in terms of handling questions and talking sense. I can't go into details until the morning, much will get cut out...so I will fill in any missing gaps.

William Hill have paid out...wish I had got on at 7/1, 11/4 wasn't too bad though On oddschecker none of the online bookmakers have odds available now so I'm guessing they should all pay out.

Thanks Nicko - looking forward to reading the articles on it - glad for some positive spin and hopefully most of the fans will get behind our new manager rather than crying witch before he has had the opportunity to succeed or fail. Fergie springs to mind as an example !
riverside returns Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I think we should all just take a rest and lets see what he can do. I for one would prefer rovers to play football on the grass and not in the air. I do think there was an attempt to do so but it is incredibly hard to alter 2 years of coaching in just one week or 2 sessions. Give the man some time and a chance.

(if it doesn't work out we could get Tony Blair in....he always does a good 'presser'.)

All talk and no play makes Chris a dull boy. Unless his speeches are more influential then Hitler, he needs some good results to stop the moaners.

Oh right sound, I'll get the ticker tape out right now then rather than wait, I mean the man can talk the talk so de facto he must be able to walk the walk. I've employed enough people over the years to know that isn't always the case. I mean Audley Harrison cuts a dashing figure dressed up as a boxer but...... Well anyway I'm back on board now, just booked my tickets for the Champions League Final in 2012 which I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever we will be contesting because someone can answer the odd question here or there.... In fact, just cancel the rest of this year's Premiership fixtures, the title's ours already no point delaying the inevitable.
47er Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Wait a second. Are you trying to tell me that the Walker trust, the people who for so many years did not lend us a helping hand, and who were entrusted to protect the club from being left it in the wrong hands...are actually comprised of Jack Walker's own children? This is becoming a Greek tragedy of some sorts. Oewoodpus Rex!

Kean the hidden genius behind Sam Allardyce and Neil McDonald. anyway jokes a side, hope is starts off with a win, he needs it.
