Veevs Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I agree with much of what you say here, there is one point I have highlighted though, in English Law, I am pretty sure, (perhaps someone with a greater knowledge of Business Law could confirm this) with a Limited Company, the board of Directors are legally responsible for the running of the club, I cant get my head round how the board cannot be responsible otherwise I am sure there would be some 'legals' going on somewhere, I still dont understand either, with the way a company works, they can operate without a Chairman. I may be wrong on these matters as I am not experienced enough on these points but I am sure someone on here can enlighten me further. Only covers legal aspects (i.e. stuff that breaks the law).. it is for example not illegal too run a company badly.

philipl Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I would imagine the four continuing directors (plus JW when he was on the board) were and are taking very careful legal advice as they do carry the can for what Venky's are doing. Unlike the two new Indian appointees, they are here and face the full consequences of the Law without being able to retire hurt back to Pune. I am not suggesting for a moment that anything illegal has happened but I have been watching the events of the past three months unfold from a corporate governance standpoint and and not envied the Rovers' Directors' positions one little bit. I have no knowledge whatsoever of the fees being charged by the family adviser Uncle Jerome. There were rumours of a £500,000 finders' fee for finding Blackburn Rovers. My invoice for £500k is in the post
thenodrog Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Why do you need my brass? I thought you had three bogs and an accountant? Have you fallen on hard times? Four and two. As opposed to your total show of support for BRFC which probably extends to occasionally incinerating some lumps of dead roo or whatever comes to hand over the barbi in a faded BRFC shirt with McKewans on the front and DGS '9' on the back?
thenodrog Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Very Interesting Thenodrog, you could have started something here. For MY 33% stake in your support, will you be OK with me in drawing up a contract of must do's for your good self to achieve, consistantly, I might add, through the season. If so i'll be more than happy to sponsor you for this amount, provided you meet the requirements drawn up JAL. err the question was how would you feel for some of our noisy overseas friends to feel a proper part of the club by stumping up a few quid and helping you subsidise your ST. Needless to say my inbox is empty.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Four and two. As opposed to your total show of support for BRFC which probably extends to occasionally incinerating some lumps of dead roo or whatever comes to hand over the barbi in a faded BRFC shirt with McKewans on the front and DGS '9' on the back? In English please.
yeti-dog Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Four and two. As opposed to your total show of support for BRFC which probably extends to occasionally incinerating some lumps of dead roo or whatever comes to hand over the barbi in a faded BRFC shirt with McKewans on the front and DGS '9' on the back? Clearly we can't all meet your exacting standards...how spectacularly condescending by the way.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I think the more interesting question is did the Rao family know that their special personal advisor was possibly two timing them? How could he be two timing them if he attempted to introduce this bloke to Rothschilds BEFORE the Rao's employed him as an advisor?. Still, don't let facts get in the way of your agenda. I am not suggesting for a moment that anything illegal has happened but I have been watching the events of the past three months unfold from a corporate governance standpoint and and not envied the Rovers' Directors' positions one little bit. The usual nonsense from you. "I'm not saying anything illegal has occurred but I will imply it might well have done." I have no knowledge whatsoever of the fees being charged by the family adviser Uncle Jerome. There were rumours of a £500,000 finders' fee for finding Blackburn Rovers. My invoice for £500k is in the post If there was a "finder's fee" applicable, would that not have been payable to Rothschilds and in fact nothing whatsoever to do with Jerome Anderson?
philipl Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 There is no indication as to when Bassini was looking at Rovers. I said there is no indication whatsoever that anything illegal has occured- how clear can I be. However, Directors' duties and responsibilities extend far beyond what is technically legal or otherwise and potentially face personal liability in many circumstances- that is why they would need legal advice whenever you have an activist shareholder who is acting for the company without involving the board of directors. Do you really think Anderson is working at Rovers for no payment?
John Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Speaks well.... CRAIG Hignett has told Blackburn Rovers’ new owners to forget trying to bring a big-name to Ewood Park after insisting finding a new chairman should be their number one priority.
cruz Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 As poor an article as he was a pundit on the Radio commentary of the Rovers QPR cup match.
John Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I think he makes some sensible points myself, each to their own I guess.
cruz Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 From his own experience FOURTEEN years ago when overseas players were few and far between
ross-shire rover Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 From his own experience FOURTEEN years ago when overseas players were few and far between What's wrong with saying we'd be better off getting a good chairman as opposed to paying a grossly inflated fee and wages for some has-been famous player, who might have a disturbing effect in the dressing room? Seems pretty sensible to me.
47er Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 As poor an article as he was a pundit on the Radio commentary of the Rovers QPR cup match. Makes absolute sense to me. But then I don't applaud everything Venkys do.
thenodrog Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 As poor an article as he was a pundit on the Radio commentary of the Rovers QPR cup match. I could find little to crib in that article too. Why would you sit on the Riverside and also listen to him on the radio though?
Backroom trueblue Posted February 22, 2011 Backroom Posted February 22, 2011 I could find little to crib in that article too. Why would you sit on the Riverside and also listen to him on the radio though? Drowns out the noise of the moaners
den Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 A couple of posters on the LT site have said that ticket prices for the Blackpool game have gone up by 50%. Now I have a season ticket, so don't have a clue what the normal matchday prices are - so are they right? Blackpool tickets £28-£38.

No they are normal matchday prices as they are when there's not an offer on - they were the same price vs Spurs. I'm guessing that Blackpool will be a Cat A game too

philipl Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Venky's acted with clinical efficiency when Sam's no show side ruined their Man U party. The very least they can do for the club is act with similar clinical determination now and remove Steve Kean from the Manager's position.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 What an awful situation we have been thrown into. From relative stability on and off the pitch to this.... THE SUM OF ALL FEARS.
Kelbo Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I will say this politely, Venkys, Anderson and Kean etc, GO NOW!!!
PAFELL Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Venky's acted with clinical efficiency when Sam's no show side ruined their Man U party. The very least they can do for the club is act with similar clinical determination now and remove Steve Kean from the Manager's position. Can you really see that happening. After all they have just given him a contract. He has just been to see them in India. But I hope you are right and they act now, before it is too late.
