imy9 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Too late - the damage has been done. Owing to cultural differences there is also no reason to believe that they will admit to making mistakes let alone correct them. The title of this thread should be renamed The End of An Era because Venky's in 3 short months have undone all the good work at Ewood of the past 20 years and, for the first time in the club's 136-year history, made Rovers an object of ridicule in the eyes of football fans around the country. People have short memories Jim, the tabloids have always been anti Rovers and this has merely escalated. Give them time, footbal is a tough business where every mistake is highlighted and magnified, I HOPE that the owners will learn from their mistakes and we'll see some major developments in the summer. One of my favourite sayings comes from this, its worth remembering for so many situations, 'You dont get a second chance to make a first impression' I like 'dont judge a book by its cover'

booth Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 People have short memories Jim, the tabloids have always been anti Rovers and this has merely escalated. Jim said "ridicule" not anti Rovers. And unlike before Rovers are indeed getting ridiculed. You are correct that the media is largely anti-Blackburn Rovers, but it's only since Venky's took over they've actually been ridiculed as a football club. In the past we've been sniped at, not openly mocked like the village idiot. You could say we were poked fun at when Sam was doing his thing saying he could manage a big Euro club. But if I remember correctly the media backlash/mockery seemed to be directed at Sam himself. The media have turned from being anti-Rovers, to taking the utter pee out of Blackburn Rovers. Before it was based on the media's own prejudice, now some of the derogatory reports about Rovers actually have some substance.
Parsonblue Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Venky's vow to stick by Blackburn Rovers I notice that Mr. Rao states you have to lose sometimes and win sometimes. I think Kean's got the hang of the former, I just wish Mrs Desai or perhaps one of the brothers, or even Uncle Jerome could explain to Kean how he manages the latter.

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 And let's not forget, Mr Kean is in charge who is managed by Kentaro as is Jensen. So even though Jerome Anderson may be no more (does anyone know for sure?), his spirit is alive and well at the club either way. Listen Booth.....Mr Kean is a very nice man! Imy my friend, its time to wake up and smell the coffee regarding Venky's so called management of all things Blackburn Rovers. Too late - the damage has been done. So true and SO incredibly painful to watch.
Mercer Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 What a disastous week with so much bullsh1t, IMO, from Kean and our owners. To round it all off, a permanent contract for Jensen !!! Out with some friends (three Burnley supporters!) and wives last night and the p1ss taking was unmerciful for the first half an hour or so. One surprising and interesting fact, one of the women thought that Kean was quite 'fanciable'. Hmmm, one wonders.

Its totally depressing Mercer, really depressing, this lot are really taking the Mick out of our club and anyone who cant see it is as deluded as the owners and so called manager, its like they do something and then think about it, when they should think first. No thought has gone into this and any input from third parties has not been in the best interest of the club.

We then get the chance for another six points of that shower that will never beat us. They should watch what they wish for in them there hills.

Majiball Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 We would never consider promoting the press officer. So why is he going to see you in Pune?
Mattyblue Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I agree Paul, communication is everything, that is obvious after 14 years of p*** poor PR.
roverwhelmed Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Did Kean not say a while ago that he told Venkys that he thought it was important to get communication right - going through Paul Agnew at the club? Perhaps this is a result of that. In which case, this is somewhat positive. Maybe they are starting to understand the implication of mixed messages from different members of the family, different messages to different media outlets, and the impact upon supporters - i.e. resulting in fury and deep mistrust. I hope it is a sign that they are starting to listen and learn. I won't hold my breath though.
Majiball Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 But they came out and yet again denied the story, when it looks at present as if it maybe true. I want to be able to trust the words that come from my club and that trust has been lost because of Venky's actions. Time to talk straight with the fans, Venky's.
roverwhelmed Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 They do need to talk to the fans honestly - and fast.
Sysagent Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 LOL as if they give a ###### about us! It's as obvious as the nose on my face that the owners don't want to have anything to do with the plebs (read fans) and would rather give token words every now and again to make us think they actually do care... I am afraid the Venkys are as fond of us as they are their chickens, only thing is the chickens make a Hell of a lot more money for them than we or the club do.
Mercer Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 A poignant lesson for our new owners: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1373555/Damien-Comolli-convinced-John-W-Henry-hit-Liverpool.html Some key extracts: 'I share the fans' optimism because the owners said things when they arrived and stuck to their words in January,' he told LFC Weekly. 'They have shown their commitment and their backing and everything they have said they will do, they have done.
patrickvalery Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 A poignant lesson for our new owners:........................ 'They have shown their commitment and their backing and everything they have said they will do, they have done. Is this the company who have a history of successful sports management? You'd expect them to be getting things right wouldn't you? Not a very fair benchmark to set for a our new owners. They have been less than perfect admittedly. But they are learning the job. Clearly you fancy yourself as some kind of master tactician come football club owner. I wonder just how successful you would be at running a poultry business? Oh and factor in daily press coverage to keep everyone well informed on your progress.
Eddie Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 You're absolutely right, but the problem is that they are doing so many of the easy things wrong. My criticism of the Rao's from the start was the fact that they seemed incapable of properly communicating with the fans or media. This isn't vital to the success of the club, but it makes managing a crisis far easier and as the results on the field have worsened, their communication skills haven't improved. This is a very steep learning curve for your 'average' businessman; owning a football club, or any sports team for that matter, is far different to owning a company because of the involvement and passion of the fans, but they should have known that coming in. Their real problem may be that none of them are actual supporters of anything. We didn't necessarily need a Rovers supporter like Jack Walker to take on the club, but someone who could understand and relate to the feelings of the supporters would have been very useful. Hopefully they will learn quickly, but they haven't made any of the right moves when it comes to easing the concerns of the fans or increasing the involvement of the supporters.

rebelmswar Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 What are you on about? A joke Mr. Castell, nothing more.
Billy Castell Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Fair enough rebel, I got the wrong end of the stick by thinking you had.
