BuckyRover Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I am now even more sceptical of our chances of promoting our club in India after reading that article. NO CHANCE. Let's leave it to the experts. (The business people from India who have dealt with sport in Asia previously).

Hughesy Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Has there ever been a real suggestion this is / was the plan. My impression is the Venky's deal is intended to promote their brand in Europe and less so Rovers in India? Much of the talk about India and promotion has been little more than speculation by the hotel and car park builders amongst the fan base. No I dont think India is there Target...they never mentioned that did they! Just speculation.... “We are looking to spread the name of Blackburn Rovers wherever we can. India is our major target.” Desai also stressed the importance of forming strong links between Rovers and the sub-continent, revealing Sam Allardyce’s men could soon become the first English team to tour India. She also admitted the search is already on for Indian talent to make an impact at Rovers as they look for football’s equivalent to cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. She said: “We will take a look at their calendar and when it is convenient for them we will arrange exhibition matches in India. “We are also looking to start workshops where we fly down coaches of the Blackburn Academy and arrange training sessions for kids in India. “Our aim is to have an Indian footballer in the team, and we will work along these lines. "If we can have a Sachin Tendulkar, I’m sure we’ll find someone (like him in football).”
3rdpillar Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 UK very small market, EUROPE not expanding that much, INDIA/ASIA going places fast with lots of humans being westernized brfore you get to the expanding population. If I had a business to grow I would not be focusing on UK/EUROPE. Having a successful WESTERN product ( EPL ), to distribute in growing markets along side the brands of their core business makes loads of sense. VENKEYS must invest in the success of BRFC to make this happen. I am sure they will. The football team may not perform, but I would say that the investment required for ( EPL ) success will come.
Majiball Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 India is our major target.” So that's why we keep punting it long we're trying to hit India. It all makes sense now.
John Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Not sure if the article below has been posted previously, looks a new one. Anuradha Desai, Chairperson of Venkateshwara Hatcheries, tells BrandLine why the group bought the Blackburn Rovers and how football can help the Venky's brand.. Hatching a new game plan It is a well-known brand and I think the trust that ran it has not leveraged the brand …we can build it into a bigger brand. (As of now) we are not trying to be No 1 or something like that … if we are 8th or 10th we are happy.

67splitscreen Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 And still making a hash of our history (hope it was lost in translation) "Blackburn Rovers is one of the teams that has done well, has tradition and remained in the premier league for 90 years." Perhaps a ground tour may help her.
imy9 Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 The interview is an old one the quotes are old and I have read them before, stick with the ones in the British press, no chance of any words being lost in translation!
Hughesy Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Not sure if the article below has been posted previously, looks a new one. Looks like all the old quotes again, rehashed to make a new article...I just listen to what they have to say direct to us or the LT.
PAFELL Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Looks like all the old quotes again, rehashed to make a new article...I just listen to what they have to say direct to us or the LT. I hope it is an old article, 90 years in the prem!!!!! more comments about servicing the debts, which is different than paying it off. The only positive thing from the man u match for the new owners is, this is how crap we are, now we will show the improvement under our ownership.
broadsword Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Can't be too hard to improve on that, a transfer budget would go a long way for starters.

DanLad Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I can't help but have the nagging doubt that this takeover is the beginning of the end of our time in the limelight.
47er Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I can't help but have the nagging doubt that this takeover is the beginning of the end of our time in the limelight. That's the sort of line that ends an episode of the Archers! How about "I don't like it, its too damned quiet"?
gumboots Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I can't help but have the nagging doubt that this takeover is the beginning of the end of our time in the limelight. We all have doubts but then anything you do could go wrong. Life's too short to spend it worrying what might happen. Get on and enjoy the now.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 So Venky's.....what are your plans for Rovers? HELLO! ANYONE THERE?
ABBEY Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Not any reps in the box behind us today.they didn't last long did they? 1 game!
RevidgeBlue Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I can't help but have the nagging doubt that this takeover is the beginning of the end of our time in the limelight. What on earth leads you to that conclusion? We've finally got rid of owners who haven't wanted us and who have starved us of funds for quite some time and replaced them with owners who do at least want to own us. I'd say there's room for cautious optimism on this particular front. At least until proved otherwise.
Doaksie Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Not attempting to put any sort of dampener on the result against the Wolves today but I've just been reading some old quotes from Anuradha Desai: “Blackburn is a sturdy team, but now we will try to push the team to the top half of the table." With us pushing ourselves up to 8th today, I hope this won't influence their spending in January or indeed more pertinently the summer if we remain in mid-table. Be in no doubt Anuradha - WE NEED INVESTMENT, regardless of where Sam takes us.
PAFELL Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Wonder what Kentaro/SEM think about it all.... MONEY MONEY AND MORE MONEY
John Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I've just got the feeling some fun and games could start shortly...
