John Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Surely Venky's cannot be this stupid?? The Radio Five Live reporter said he was contacted by Mrs Desai during the week, for an interview, as she was keen to put the record straight after all the negative reporting on them - obviously her comments only confused matters further but at least she had a go.... I just find this all staggering that they are currently running a PR disaster - additionally I understand the notion that they need time but they don't seem to have any plan in place plus there are worrying fundamental aspects of their working operation (influence of agents in their/our decision making etc).

imy9 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I tell you what is more worrying the pattern that is developing on this site: 1. "Rovers have sacked Williams and Finn"- mass hysteria, owners getting abuse from all sides, CONCLUSION, JW and Finn are staying, a number of "JW is a hero he is only staying for the fans, Venkys are ****" 2. "Rovers are cutting funding for community projects"- mass hysteria, owners getting abuse from all sides, CONCLUSION, nothing has happened and funding for community projects are seperate from the club. 3. "Rovers want to sign Geovanni and Boyd and this caused Sams sacking"- mass hysteria, owners getting abuse from all sides, CONCLUSION, Boyd was wanted by Sam (so a bit daft really!) and nothing to suggest Geovanni is wanted by Rovers, in fact Rovers looking at top talent- Nzogbia, Adams, Cole. Maybe I am exaggerating the mass hysteria thing but I am getting frustrated by the attack on our owners- they have said plenty of things to genuinely criticise them but we are getting works of fiction from all corners and rather than support the owners (who have been here for 4 weeks) and give them a chance, some have already decided that they are against them- As highlighted by King Kenny below.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 How did this lot convince the Trust and pass the fit 'n' proper test when it appears they have no clue?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Maybe they do have a clue. Let's wait and see!

So do you not think they have made us into a laughing stock this week. Again I reiterate...YOU'RE A PRAT!! Really? Read the above again and come back to me on the prat comment. It's a passionate response from a passionate season ticket holder of 23 years. Is that ok Immy the prat?
imy9 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 So do you not think they have made us into a laughing stock this week. Again I reiterate...YOU'RE A PRAT!! If you READ (try its quite good you know) the very next line I made a point of criticising them for what they HAVE done.

I dont resort to calling people prats on the site who have a differing opinion to mine, you might want to widen your vocabulary.
King Kenny's Magic Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 If you READ (try its quite good you know) the very next line I made a point of criticising them for what they HAVE done. You don't really criticise them at all,you say that maybe what they have done warrants criticism you chube. I'm thinking maybe a hidden agenda is behind your backing of the VH Group?!

I dont resort to calling people prats on the site who have a differing opinion to mine, you might want to widen your vocabulary. For what it's worth I appreciate your point of view. And you're right, this m/b is like a negativity monster, people are peed off, they log on, read other people's angry missives and it stokes up their negativity further. But as you acknowledge, it's difficult not to get angry at the moment. But the m/b has the feel of an angry lynch mob right now. Venky's have their work cut out putting things right. I'm not sure I have the faith in them from what I've seen so far.

Backroom trueblue Posted December 18, 2010 Backroom Posted December 18, 2010 Ok, stop the petty squabbles please, it's just cluttering up the MB and I'm getting fed up of tidying up after spats like this
King Kenny's Magic Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 they have said plenty of things to genuinely criticise them Try again. The only reason I have misread that is because I've had a couple of sherberts(that's beer FYI imy). Anyway I'll be more careful from now on...

I am simply saying wait and see, we cannot do anything until January 1st and then we shall see. Venkys need to appoint a spokesperson (JW I would say) who deals with the press and then there would be a consistent viewpoint.
King Kenny's Magic Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Just calm down lah, alright, eh eh eh?! Ha ha,fair enough la!
Backroom DE. Posted December 18, 2010 Backroom Posted December 18, 2010 It's all about timing for me. If Venky's didn't want Sam to spend any of their money, fine. However, could they not have left the sacking until after the West Brom game, at least? Out of the WHU, Stoke, and WBA games I would have expected Allardyce to pick up anywhere between 5-7 points. It's almost like Venky's don't understand how crucial those 5-7 points could be come the end of the season. Allardyce has an excellent record at Ewood Park, and I think with him in charge we would have picked up a healthy haul of points over xmas. Venky's have and never had any intention of replacing Allardyce soon, that much seems obvious, so would 3 games really have mattered? Kean would still have been here, and they could have still gone into January without Allardyce interfering with transfer policy. Our next game would also be away to Sunderland, and the pressure would be far less because it wouldn't be a game we'd be expected to win anyway. I don't know... if Venky's are being advised by Kentaro then it seems to me they're being advised badly. If they absolutely had to get rid of Allardyce, it could have waited a couple more weeks.
broadsword Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 It was completely crazy, you don't sack the manager mid-way through the season unless you were in trouble. You just don't do it, now we're worse off than we were before because we don't have a ready-made replacement. It was an absolutely crackers move. No offence to Steve Kean, but he doesn't have the same level of experience that Allardyce had. Now we're worse off in lower mid-table in a tight league. It's squeaky-bum time, and it was all fairly needless. I can understand they want to have someone of their choice in, but do it at the end of the season.
Backroom DE. Posted December 18, 2010 Backroom Posted December 18, 2010 If I was them and I didn't want Sam I would have waited until the summer, I absolutely agree that sacking a manager mid-season when things are going okay is madness. However, if they absolutely had to get rid of Allardyce mid-season, I can't really think of much worse of a time. You'd think Kentaro, being made up of supposedly knowledgable football agents, would be well aware of how crucial the christmas period is. Apparently not
John Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Do we think part of it is that with Sam we likely would have safely stayed up - all nice, boring and safe. Who knows with it being so tight in the league this year we could have even ended up in the top 10. However by sacking him when we are doing OK, appointing a novice and having no long-term replacement lined up, it could provide a more entertaining end to the season when we are fighting for our lives?

47er Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 The vast majority of us agree that Venkys should have waited till summer when we were safe. And we know our cub and football better than they do. Conclusion:either they are megalomaniacs or they didn't trust Sam to spend money in the transfer market which they know is needed. Conclusion: they trust Kean to spend it even though he is completely untried at this level or they don't need to worry about him because their advice will come from elsewhere. um......
