Last time we scored 3 away from home in the league. Everton 2-3 Blackburn. 16th August 2008, opening game of the season and Paul Ince's first game in charge.

We got 4 away from home against Villa in the Carling Cup, although they scored 6, also scored 3 away to Gillingham in the cup last season.

But never 3 away from home in the league with BFS in charge.

So by my count we go into the Sunderland game minus Roberts, Jones, Salgado, Samba, possibly Robinson, now Kalinic plus all our long term injuries? Can't catch a break at all here.

Add Emerton to that list as he will be playing for Oz in the Asian Cup, potentialy for 1 month. Need to get some fresh faces in, and hope to get some back from injury soon.

Football is a crazy game. It totally does your head in. We have all been traumatized recently including the players. We don't like change unless it is us that are insisting on it Most of all, we are looking for hope, and something to inspire us. There were signs of that hope today reading between the lines. An away victory, two goals from a supercharged Kalinic, a promising front two and some great displays from young guns and old. If samba man stays, we buy well in January, and play consistently over the next few months, it may well be a new dawn and the dawn of a promising young manager

Venkys please take note. We respect the fact that you have used your hard earned cash to buy our club, but to win our hearts and build your brand, there is no need to "large it up". Trust our Club Chairman who understands the club and the media better than most, to share your vision, and don't let him be sidelined by any agent who has your best interests at heart as long as there is a healthy percentage in it for him.

lol. I guess the magic trick is for me to miss the game. This was the first Rovers game I've been unable to follow in quite a while, and I couldn't be more surprised at the result. I honestly expected to come home to a 3-0 defeat.

Good to know we're at least capable of winning games again.

I must be bloody mad going all the way to WBA to watch this lot.

I'm going to the TO at WBA. I need two together, I realise we will probably be able to move around but I have Tom with me and that's not always quite so simple. Planning to set off at 12.00. I travel more in hope than expectation!!

Hope you both really enjoyed yourselves........

Football............funny old game eh

People were quick to tell us what Sam would have got against West Ham & Stoke, so how about today?

I knew the crowing triumphalists would be all over the board after this result. Remember this was one game as I have been saying all season. On that basis Kalinic is worth 20M and Sam is a genius for picking up a bargain at 6M!

Remember too that we are all delighted at this result. If Kean turns out to be a winner and quality players sign up in January, Sam will disappear into distant memory. That's football.

Whether or not that happens people like me will still be saying that sacking Sam at the time we did was not a risk worth taking.

If we lose at Sunderland, then Kean's record will read:4 games and 4 points. That is relegation form.

In the meantime, get some perspective.

Thanks for this was going to flip through my Rovers record book to find out this. For the life of me I couldn't remember the last time we scored three away from home. Nice to see an attacking line-up away from home for once, on this occassion it paid off partly because West Brom's defense is poor and partly because our strikers played really well and took their chances when they came.

Actually a point a game hasn't been relegation form for years :P

But Topman had a point. Plenty of people on here have made outrageous statements about Kean and have been adamant that Sam would have got 6 points from the previous two games (despite him getting 2 last year)

The main people who need a sense of perspective are the ones going over the top with conspiracy theories etc

A point a game certainly involves you in the heart of a relegation scrap and West Ham went down with 40. But I'm just trying to be realistic. It can go either way from here.

Like all fans I live in hope and I hope that we spend a lot of Venky money wisely in January, Kean grows into the job and we all walk around with smiles on our faces as we surge up the table.

That one decision could cost us the game.

I haven't been impressed with Hanley, from what I've seen up until now. Geez, defensively we've not been too bad, but our new manager has seen fit to make an issue out of Samba's comments, then dropped Givet. Poor management.

Anyway, C'mon you blues!

Glad you aren't our manager.

Anyhow, haven't read through all of the comments yet, but Kean said on Talksport that Givet didn't feel physically up to playing as he was exhausted and that Samba failed a late fitness test. Also, Hanley was pretty impressive today.

I think its mental.

Wonder what Givet makes of it all as well.

Those who can, do....

Anyhow, as for the match itself, thought that we gave them too much space in midfield the first half - almost as if our midfielders were afraid of going for the ball or tackling, but then in the start of the second half it was almost like we were in attack mode to take the pressure off of Bunn. Kalinic was a great pest, probably the best 10-15 minutes I've seen him play. Didn't see the sending off, so not including that in my assessment.

I think the whole thing with people saying Sam would have done "this" if he was still in charge was a bit silly, but the jury was out on Kean and he had to prove that sacking Sam was worth the gamble. I think our result against WBA has given us more hope that the gamble was worth it though.

Much better performance from the team, but we are still far from being a finished product. Our defence was a shambles in the first half, but seemed to tighten up a lot more in the second, which was pleasing to see.

Kalinic, when he doesn't fall over constantly, looks like a class striker. Stupid challenge from him though to win the red card. Maybe was more of a yellow, but I'm pretty sure consistent fouling from him tipped the scales to a red. He seems a bit over-exhuberant still, the calmer he gets, the better a striker he'll be.

Olsson has been super recently, we need to keep a hold of him along with our other best players, including Samba. Nelsen was awful that game though, as was Dunn (again). Hanley seems alright, but he needs to lose a few pounds, he doesn't look like a Premier League quality defender at all. Jonesy on the other hand looks like the real deal.

I'm really worried about our new years day match with so many injuries and suspensions. Not too many options for us now, we'll probably have to play Benjani as well.

Players we sign in the January transfer window will be vital to deciding our season.

Well..we beat Blackpool away who are doing far better than West Brom are doing. We also beat Newcastle away who are on the same level of points. A point at City of Manchester is also as good a result as a win at a lot of other places. Granted we lost away to Birmingham this season (but performance merited a win) along with Stoke, Bolton, Man U and Liverpool, but under Sam a win here would have been possible for sure, though it wasn't the likely result that it would've been in the last two home games.

However, Steve Kean did a very good job today and nothing should be taken away from today's performance.
