jim mk2 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Top manager headhunted for the role who fully deserves a long-term contract after his outstanding record with other clubs. Good to see.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Top manager headhunted for the role who fully deserves a long-term contract after his outstanding record with other clubs. Good to see. A guy who knows the players better than anyone else, has hit the ground running and done well in tough circumstances and deserves a full time contract. See, we can twist things whichever way we want. You always try so damn hard to make things sound worse than they are, its pathetic.
deftangel Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Signed until next month when Maradona arrives http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10303~2271940,00.html Fixed for you Joking asides, it's certainly an ambitious move to give him a vote of confidence this early but let's hope he can build on an ok start with a win on Sunday.
trs Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I believe Kean has just been on talks***e and relayed these comments.(post made at 18.15) http://www.fansonline.net/blackpool/mb/view.php?id=628475
chaddyrovers Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Steve kean interview with talksport http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/drivetime/blog/2011-01-20/kean-we-want-make-marquee-signing-summer
chaddyrovers Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Nelsen has give his blessing about Kean getting a new contract to continue as manager. That's says alot about what the players think of the manager. hopefully good times ahead for rovers

JW I would imagine. Once the decision was made not to include Chimp in the team, playing or training, surely Kean's involvement is over.
BuckyRover Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Indeed. He is no longer a player only a drain on the payroll.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Very interesting comment that talk about Maradona will end. We will see if that is the case. Well it will if you stop dragging the Maradona thread back up to the top.
tonyoz Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Well it will if you stop dragging the Maradona thread back up to the top. Heh heh!

J*B Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 If anybody's local, and an Obsessive fan, Kean and the backroom staff are currently in the black bull, in old Langho (near brockhall).
67splitscreen Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 If anybody's local, and an Obsessive fan, Kean and the backroom staff are currently in the black bull, in old Langho (near brockhall). Has he got his four phones with him, Jeez! why?
John Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Think Kean confirmed it this week but is Iain Brunskill our new first team coach (moving forward)?
Sverre Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/sam-knows-id-never-have-stabbed-him-in-the-back-2191092.html? Fresh interview with Kean. A good one.
philipl Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/sam-knows-id-never-have-stabbed-him-in-the-back-2191092.html? Fresh interview with Kean. A good one. It reads very well but loses credibility when he says the following: "It's new to me, the mechanics of the transfer window..., " Nobody can deny that Rovers have one of the finest exponents of the transfer system in John Williams. The absence of reference to John Williams in this context is very stark. It loses more credibility here where he covers for Mrs D: During the fallout following Allardyce's dismissal, Venky's chairwoman, Anuradha Desai, said that she thought Rovers should be a top-five club who play exciting football. "I think she was more than a little misquoted," says Kean I don't know about anybody else but I certainly heard her say 4th to 6th- not a newspaper quotation but her own voice at least twice. He does at least acknowledge that there was an incipient players' revolt and that the club has been in a continuing state of crisis. Thankfully that crisis is not impacting directly on getting points and progress in the Cup on the field of play and for that Steve Kean deserves the greatest credit.
imy9 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 First of all the comment about the mechanics of the window is a reference to giving timings about when things will happen- something he elaborated further on when he spoke to Rovers World yesterday, Sam never did and that's about experience, can't recall him ever mentioning JW when referring to player purchases. Secondly Desai has been misquoted- numerous times, she has said that she wants a team to play attractive football but when has she said that she wants a top 5 side, THIS season? Same as Bala saying he wants a marque signing and promises one SOON and people are saying this window. Finally preventing a POSSIBLE player revolt is different from there IS a player revolt and at least FOUR players WILL be handing in transfers and that is the paper saying possible revolt not Kean himself.

That is a rather mean-spirited interpretation Philipl. The lad has done a great job so far IMHO. He has done his best to stem the flow of drivel coming from Venkys and it is surely no surprise that he has found the transfer market to be the football version of Looney Tunes. There is no reason at all to mention JW in his response - I dunno how you can read anything sinister into that? He displays his diplomatic skills by diverting the question about Mrs Desai.....What would you rather have him say? As far as the player unrest is concerned, he did exactly what needed to be done - so much so that the player comment coming out of Ewood has been nothing but positive ever since. Give the boy a fair go.
