[Archived] Steve Kean

I can't believe Philip is trying to use that article to both back his own view and doubt it's credibility at the same time but that just sums up his attitude atm. Continuing crisis the club? Where does it say that or even hint it?

Give Steve Kean some credit and stop with the snide remarks about how he got the job.

Nobody can deny that Rovers have one of the finest exponents of the transfer system in John Williams. The absence of reference to John Williams in this context is very stark.

Who is said to be handling domestic transfers as our main target is waiting for the call from Liverpool. Outstanding work. You can't have it both ways.

He does at least acknowledge that there was an incipient players' revolt and that the club has been in a continuing state of crisis.

Thankfully that crisis is not impacting directly on getting points and progress in the Cup on the field of play and for that Steve Kean deserves the greatest credit.

Your idea of a revolt is clearly fantastical and your constant peddling of it is getting tiresome. He acknowledges nothing of the sort.

If I turned up next week to find my manager had been sacked, I would want some answers. Even if I do think they are bobbins.

Kean took the initiative to go and get some in relatively short order. Situation dealt with. If that's your idea of a revolt, I wouldn't holiday in Tunisia.

Further evidence to quash those so called player revolt rumours - http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburnrovers/news/8806643.Pedersen__Blackburn_Rovers_owners_have_won_players_over/

Funny that Nelsen, Robbo, Salgado, MGP and Roberts have recently spoken about the positivity around the squad at the moment, and players are looking to commit their future to the club.

Philipl i'm not one to jump on every single one of your posts like some, you have your opinions, and thats fine, but you can't change the words of the article to suit your own agenda.

Steve Kean wouldn't have been anyones first choice to replace Sam, however that is the card we have been dealt, and so far he has a done a great job given the circumstances, lets hope can inspire a big result tomorrow, in which is a massive game.

This may be off topic except for team spirit but why does Jason brown not get along with robbo at all? Falling out?

I'm not sure, however I remember seeing on twitter, Jason Brown saying he is made to train on his own, and not with the other keepers, so possible training ground incident. I think Brown is a bit of an idiot to be honest, and I would be zurprised if his still at the club at the end of Jan.

These last half dozen posts encapsulate everything wrong with this site at the moment. Philip posts something that is his opinion (which I don't agree with frankly) written in a sensible and articulate fashion. A few posters respond to it in a sensible and articulate fashion but before you know it we've got several childish posts resorting to name-calling. Probably done for a "bit of fun" but is it really necessary? (cue the flaming...)

Your not alone in that view. There are ways of disagreeing with a posters opinion, without reverting to insults etc.

What did he say?

one thing he did say was that the Venky's have about 162 businesses. Rovers just being one of them. Which may pour doubt on the skint venky's posts on this site.

It reads very well but loses credibility when he says the following:

"It's new to me, the mechanics of the transfer window..., "

Nobody can deny that Rovers have one of the finest exponents of the transfer system in John Williams. The absence of reference to John Williams in this context is very stark.

It loses more credibility here where he covers for Mrs D:

During the fallout following Allardyce's dismissal, Venky's chairwoman, Anuradha Desai, said that she thought Rovers should be a top-five club who play exciting football. "I think she was more than a little misquoted," says Kean

I don't know about anybody else but I certainly heard her say 4th to 6th- not a newspaper quotation but her own voice at least twice.

He does at least acknowledge that there was an incipient players' revolt and that the club has been in a continuing state of crisis.

Thankfully that crisis is not impacting directly on getting points and progress in the Cup on the field of play and for that Steve Kean deserves the greatest credit.

Well as the table reads today, Rovers are only one place behind 6th. A change of style, with the same players is producing the business at the moment. So she isn't far wrong when she says a top 5 or 6 finish, they are heading in that direction at the moment.

What did he say?

Samba very close to signing new deal, contract will be offered to him to sign in next 24 hours.

Contracts offered to Salgado, Robinson and Bunn.

Thinks we need 3 more wins to secure safety, wants them as soon as possible, then with momentum we could challenge for a top 6 place come the end.

Finding last few targets hard to get, but still after a few players to add strength to core of the team.

Marquee signing would be in the summer, his main concern is improving the core of team this window.

Owners have 162 companies he mentions, he didn't realise the global capacity they have.

I agree that on the field of play we are heading in the right direction.

But to avoid getting disappointed, it is worth remembering the gap between us and 6th (6 points and 10 goals) is the same as the gap between us and 16th whilst Bolton, Blackpool and Liverpool all play games in hand before we are next active in the League- thankfully Bolton and Blackpool face Chelsea and Man U respectively.

We're all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

I have been totallt against the sacking of Allardyce, it was badly timed and undeserved, no one will ever change my views on that, nor that it was odd Kean was made manager.

However, the lads at Brockhall are telling me he seems to be a very good manager, gets the lads to believe and be very positive in their approach to the game, by foul means we may have found a gem here!!

Blimey. Watching Bolton's defending tonight I do hope Steve Kean isn't the new Owen Coyle ;);)

I said to Nicko today that if you look at the table you could say Coyle is the new Keano but after tonight he's just about the new Avram Grant

so far he has done good. He started out with a squad, that might have been a bit demoralized, after sams sacking, so he has done well to keep things under control.

points-wise its been average, he has had the luxury, of having an "easy" time with the fixtures, so it could have been better, but all in all, a job well done.

Still early goings, but there seems to be some improvement, but im eager to see, if this improvement will still be visible, when we play other midtable teams away.

I like his football philosphy, he wants a passing based team. At present time it translates into a style, where we mix it up, which makes our football, much easier on the eye.

so far he has done the job, quite a bit better, then i anticipated/feared.
