Just a question.

Have we had a league match yet under Kean in which we have had 50% or more posession?

according to Sky Sports website, yesterday we have more possension than Wigan. I was at the game yesterday and we did have more possension than them.

Against WHU we did. Kean 1st game

Under Kean we are trying to play more attacking and pass the ball to feet more than we did under Big Sam. Only time we tell whether kean way of playing football we be successful. I wasn't in favour of Big Sam being sacked and I wasn't of Kean getting the job but he has. I thought we would have gone for a more experience manager who play attractive football.

So let's support the team and the manager. And judge him and team at the end of season.

Just to add the possesion stats under Kean

Wigan 54%

Spurs 47%

West Brom 45%

Chelsea 34%

Liverpool 33%

Sunderland 48%

West Brom 37%

Stoke 57%

West Ham 52%

Oddly looking at that, we do better with less possession.

Sneer at Sam - by the way, funnily enough, he is a proven successful Premier League manager. Perhaps Steve Kean would have not got this job without the influence of a certain individual?? Or Jonny Jensen too?

How about the owners wanted him;it's their club; it's their choice. You don't have to justify the choice of manager to anyone. You had no say whatsoever in it and the decisions made by the club are not your responsibility. Shuts most people up.

Perhaps we would have win yesterday if Givet was fit, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps... Fact is Kean has got the job and has thus far done a decent job in my eyes- a suggestion, maybe we could stop mentioning Sam/ Kentaro every time we lose a game it is getting tedious IMO.

Plenty of people whinged about Givet when he was fit and playing too. I'm still undecided about Kean and the whole set up but harking back to what might have been is useless in that it is just what might have been and not what would have been. Our problem really is that not enough of our fans had fallen out of love with our manager when he was sacked. The new owners didn't take the opportunity to bring in an established manager when they did sack allardyce, so Kean was alaways going to be struggling to convince a large section of the fans. Results have not been great and the manager's attempts to change things have been hampered by injury and absence. These do not account for all of the problems but are contributory factors. Surely it's time to stop thinking about Allardyce - he's not coming back. I doubt he sits in his villa or wherever thinking about us whereas it seems that he is more talked about in his absence than he ever was when he was our manager. Yesterday there were mistakes all over the pitch - and not just by Rovers players. The pitch was difficult for both sides and they just seemed to get the breaks - some made by their own desperation to get something out of this match, some by our suicidal defending and some because that's just the way it goes sometimes. I've watched plenty of rubbish from Allardyce teams when he was manager too and there are no guarantees that we would have done any better yesterday under him or previous managers. Wigan are poor, and may well have been beatable but then Man Utd without the excuse of an inexperienced manager and a rubbish pitch and with a full strength team out lost to bottom team Wolves yesterday. I know that was a blip rahter than a pattern, but it does sometimes just not happe for you.

Whenever talk of possession and stats start to dominate a conversation, I think back to Rovers vs Crewe, March 2000.

"Highlights" available (in poor quality) at

Unfortunately I can't find the breakdown of numbers, but rest assured those who think games are won by purely possession %age, shots on target etc, then they clearly weren't at Ewood that day. :(

I agree, by the same token let's stop slamming Sam and his achievements after every win/decent performance.

and lets stop bringing Sam up every time we lose to say that it would have been even worse under him. Let Kean stand on his own 2 legs.

Aye, plenty wanted shot of him and called him our weak link. The defence sure as hell looks sturdier with Givet there than it does with Olsson, who should be playing upfield.

New left-back in the summer though, please.

Gumboots, you do realise Steve Kean is a disliked man by many Premier League managers?? This is not just about Sam being a proven successful manager - I would suggest you have a good think about our situation.

The honeymoon is over for Kean. Rovers have gleaned only 10 points out of 30 from 10 league games since he took charge which is the kind of form if it continues will see Rovers slip closer to the danger zone before the end of the season. Kean has shown serious weaknesses in his tactical thinking and team selections and the alarm bells will be ringing if we lose our next couple of games. Pretty football is meaningless if the team continues to concede silly goals and sorting out the defending has to be his priority before the next match .

Was that Tony Parkes' last game in charge?

Remember it well.

but them sort of games are freaks

My five a side team won every game in the league 2010 then lost in a feak game 3-2 to the bottom team, I missed sh1t loads

next time we played them we won 11-0 I scored sh1tloads.

that shut them up.

Can;t really use one off games as examples, generally speaking.

We were a few points off 5th when Sam got sacked were we not? In a stranhe season, given how tight it is, with a bit of financial backing, who knows how high Sam could have taken us...

Thats what Ashley said when he gave Allardyce the war chest at Newcastle

If you actually took time to read the post, our resident imposter has declared himself out of away matches from now on due to us not having a chance to win them, this statement is probably the most ludicrous comment made in recent times, which is some going might I add, and which exposes him really.

And who cares who likes or doesn't like him? Our situation is that the guy we have in charge may or may not have used others to help him get a job he wanted, may or may not have gone behind the then manager's back to do so, may or may not have been underhand in his dealings with the previous manager. Nobody really knows or if they do, they certainly don't have any proof or they would come out with it. Management is a cosy club - they all know one another, they all know how fragile their hold on their job is, and they don't like it when the status quo is upset. To see an established manager ousted in favour of an inexperienced guy will have scared and shocked many. Our previous manager was obviously too complacent if he didn't see the usurper coming. Whatever the ins and outs of how and why Kean got the job, it doesn't change the fact that he is and looks likely to remain the manager and comparing him unfavourably with Allardyce just keeps the atmosphere round the club negative. I don't expect anyone to fall in love with our manager. I haven't myself. However, whilst he is our manager, I will try to accept him and not be critical of him just because of who he is. It's well-documented i neither liked nor wanted Allardyce, but once I got over his appointment, I don't think you'll find any further criticism from me about him, other than when I thought he made wrong decisions in a match.

Yeah, and Sam duly took them from being close to the relegation zone the season before he took over to having a fairly safe spot in 11th before he got sacked. And whilst he had a few bad signings he also signed the likes of Barton (arguably a success despite his disciplinary record), Habib Beye and Jose Enrique.
